Kai was secretly worrying about Minho in the back of his mind. He wanted to hang out with the popular boy, but yet he couldn't help but feel an emotional pull towards Kyungsoo. As he stood with his friends and fan girls, absentmindely nodding his head every now and then while Chen practically glowed and spoke on and on about Xiumin or waving his hand at a screaming girl, he couldn't help but frown. He knew he'd have to stand up Minho or Kyungsoo. But who would he choose?

Kai also knew the real meaning behind his entire situation.

Happiness or popularity?

Kai just wanted to fit in. Why couldn't he have both?! He didn't want to be that nerd in elementary school who'd get picked on. He wanted to be popular and fit, an idol everyone adored. He was so close to getting that.Originally, he thought he'd be able to ignore his feelings for Kyungsoo. Originally he thought that he'd get to be popular. Originally he thought he'd tell Kyungsoo some phony excuse. Until Kyungsoo himself walked right up to him and smiled. Only then, did Kai realise,  all of his fan girls were gone. In fact, everyone was gone. There was no one left to try and impress or pretend to be someone great. All that stood in front of him was Do Kyungsoo, smiling bright like a star. A boy who reminded Kai of his elementary years. Only then, did Kai realise, things weren't going as originally planned. There was just simply no way...

"Hello, Kai." D.O smiled. "Are we still up for hanging out?" All doubt flew out of Kai's mind as he looked at the adorable older boy.

"Of course, wouldn't miss it for the world."

It was hard, of course, to give up something he's always worked hard for.  Part of Jongin still wanted to go with Minho, but who could blame him? But then everytime Kyungsoo would smile or laugh Kai knew that he'd have much more fun with him than Minho.Kai and Kyungsoo had been small talking as they walked their way to Kai's favorite cafe for some bubble tea.

"So what's your favorite color?" Jongin asked Kyungsoo. They were playing the question game.

Kyungsoo looked up towards the sky with a thoughtful expression. "I like blue and yellow. You?"

"Blue, red, black, green.." Jongin started to list off on his fingers. Kyungsoo laughed and patted Jongin on the back.

"Ok Ok. You like a lot of colors, I see. What's your favorite drink?"

"Hmm. I really like sodas and pops. You?"

"Sweet tea." They paused on the steps of the cafe and Kai held open the door for Kyungsoo who in return blushed.

"Hey! I'm the hyung here." D.O teased, trying to ignore his red cheeks. Kai grinned at D.O.

"Oh well too bad!" They walked side by side up to the register. Ordering their milks and a cupcake for each an awkward moment came when they had to decide who'd pay.

"I'm the hyung." Kyungsoo pouted.

"That's great, but you're also the guest. C'mon you always give me food." Kai whined.

"But I enjoy cooking." Kyungsoo countered back.

'I also made you miss your lunch." At this Kyungsoo bit his lip. Kai saw this as a breakthrough and kept on.

"C'mon, Hyung. It's no big deal." Giving in with a big sigh, Kyungsoo nodded his head.

"Just this once." Kai grinned knowing it wouldn't be just this once and turned around to pay in victory. After paying they both grabbed their snack and drink and headed to a booth at the back near a window. Sitting across from Kai, D.O began to drink his bubble tea. Kai froze and stared at Kyungsoo for a moment. 'He  looks so adorable..' Kai thought with a small smile. Kyungsoo noticed Kai staring and blushed.

'I wonder how a popular boy like Kai would ever want to befriend a nerd like me.' Without knowing, Kyungsoo pouted and Kai noticed.

'I wonder what's wrong..' Kai reached over and with his thumbs turned the ends of Kyungsoo lips upward. Kyungsoo was first confused and shocked but then he gave a slight chuckle.

"What was that?" He asked with a smile.

"You were pouting. Smiling is better for you, besides you look better smiling." Kai grinned when Kyungsoo blushed. "Hyung you're going to turn into a tomato!" He exclaimed, laughing hysterically when Kyungsoo groaned and blushed deeper.

"Shut up and eat your food." Kyungsoo half joked half ordered.  Kai smiled at the rush of dominance Kyungsoo displayed although guilt rang through him again as he imagined Kyungsoo didn't eat lunch.

"Who's your bestfriend?"  Kai asked curiously and randomly, taking a bite from his cupcake. Kyungsoo blinked at the sudden randomness.

"Well, all of my friends and I are close. I can't really single anyone out. See in my group of friends, there's always someone for something..." Kyungsoo trailed off and Kai just nodded, motioning for Kyungsoo to continue. He was rather interested in the shy boys life. Gulping down some more bubble tea, Kyungsoo moved his hands around in an attempt to find words to explain his situation.

"Well, I go to Xiumin if I'm sad and need some comfort or guidence or if I need someone to test my food. Luhan often helps me with confidence and he helps me loosen up a bit. He also saves me in gym class because I'm not very athletic. Lay and I text all the time and we often do covers of songs together.  Baekhyun and I are study buddies and we often pair up if the group's going out. He helps me with fashon and I guess you can say I'm his designated driver." At this Kyungsoo let out a low chuckle. "And Tao is like the little  brother I never had. He's a great listener, like Xiumin, but usually doesn't offer advice unless necessary. He's also quite sweet and I usually go to him if I'm feeling down." Kyungsoo finished. "I realise that's weird but I can't just have one best friend."

Kai nodded. "My group of friends are rather similar, you're not weird. I'm assuming you're the over protective one?" Kai smirked.

"What? Uhh. N-no. I'm a big party go-er." Kyungsoo defended weakly. Kai raised an eyebrow. "Woo?"  He  offered just as weak. Kai laughed so hard he snorted.

"You seem like a hard core partier too." Kai gestured to Kyungsoo's neat school uniform and tie. His hair was combed and he looked extra sharp, total opposite of Kai's relaxed apparel.

Kyungsoo blushed. "Shut up." Kai laughed and decided to push it farther.

"You look adorable when you blush, hyung!" It was an edgy statement. Kyungsoo groaned and ducked his head inbetween his arms while Kai's laughter floated around him.

"I'm going to..." Kyungsoo trailed off. Kai smirked.

"Gonna what?" He challenged.

"Cut off your supply of food!" He ended smugly, grinning at Kai's horrified face.

"Hyung no! I'm sorry!"
