Chapter 26
Our Times TogetherMy parents always taught me to be polite and respect others. They were pretty strict about it too, especially my mom. Don't be rude, they would always say. Be wary of others' feelings.
But at that moment, I was going against all of my family's values. I mean, Yu ri just got dumped, and here I was, shoving my discontent in her face with just one word. It's not her fault that she has to come to our school. She probably didn't even know that Seungri was going there already when she applied...right?
But, you would freak out too if you found out that your boyfriend's ex was transferring to your school.
So, after I had rudely interrupted her, I cleared my throat and slowly sat back down. "Sorry," I mumbled, looking away.
'It's okay," Yu Ri gave a small smile.
"Wait," said Seungri, holding up a hand. "So, you're saying...that you're going to CheongDong...next week...correct?" He spoke slowly, as if he was choosing his words wisely. I could tell that this was a shock to him too.
"Mhmm!" She nodded.
Seungri and I exchanged a quick glance.
"That's..." Seungri started.
"...where..." I continued.
"...we..." He motioned to the both of us.
"...go." I finished off.
Yu Ri gasped. "Really?" She beamed and turned to Seungri, grabbing his hands and making him jump. "Oh, Ri, that means that we could be in the same classes!" She squealed.
My stomach dropped. I hoped not.
Seungri gave her a smile in return. "That'd be great!" I really couldn't tell if he was being honest or not, though it seemed like it came from the heart. "Oh." He suddenly clenched his stomach with one hand. "Excuse me one second," He got up and headed to the bathroom, leaving Yu Ri and I alone.
I avoided her gaze and munched on a cookie. Talking to her would just make me lose control again.
I heard her take a sip of milk from one of the cups.
But then,
BAM! She suddenly slammed her glass onto the table. Hard.
Startled, I slowly looked up.
The person sitting before me was a complete stranger. This was not the innocent Yu Ri that we were talking to moments earlier. Her gaze was dark and intimidating, and she no longer seemed kind and bright. It was like a switch had been flipped.
"Don't think that SeungHyun really likes you," She coldly spat out, her tone much lower and scarier than before.
I froze, taken aback. "W-what?"
"I've known him for quite awhile. SeungHyun goes through girls fast. I was with him for a few months, but after I broke up with him, he would go through a girl a week." She leaned forward and plucked a cookie from the tray, looking at it from every angle. "How long have you two been together?"
I swallowed. She's probably making up lies. "Two weeks," I stated.
She gave a quiet laugh, still inspecting her cookie. "I'd say it won't be long..." She suddenly crushed the cookie in her hand, letting the crumbs fall onto the tray. "...before he's done with you."
I stared at her with wide eyes, unsure how to answer her. The Seungri that I knew sure didn't seem like a player. But, some tiny, tiny part of me felt like she had no reason to lie.
"But anyways, I have a reason for coming back here." She picked the last crumb off of her hand. Then, she leaned forward so that our faces were now inches apart. "SeungHyun's heart was mine to begin with. And I'm here to get it back." Yu Ri threateningly whispered. A shiver went down my spine.
And then Seungri stepped back into the room, sneezing. The switch flicked again, and Yu Ri's smile radiated with innocence. "Are you cold, Seung-ie? Here, I'll close the window..."
I sat there, sighing inside. I did NOT want to get on this girl's bad side.
