New Dorm Gone Wrong

Midnight Academy

Why am I having all these mixed emotions? I’m supposed to hate Ren, I’m supposed to be ripping his guts out right now, not let him play with my hair. Rinka thought as Ren was soothingly her hair. They haven’t left the white room since Headmaster and the nurse walked out to give them some privacy.

She couldn’t understand her feelings right now, she wasn’t sure if she ever would. Maybe she would figure out sometime soon? She wasn’t sure about that either. But she just wanted to relax while she had the time. She’s been dealing with too much lately. She wanted to clear her mind of all of what’s happened.

With Ren, JR, the school, her father, and her dream about her mother. She didn’t even want to get started on that.

“Are you tired?” Ren suddenly asked her as his fingers slowly caressed her hair. He was hoping he could put her to sleep; she looked awfully exhausted. But somehow she didn’t even show it. Not a bit.
“No, I’m wide awake!” Rinka replied cheerfully. She smiled big, reassuring him that she was fine.

Ren returned his smile, a warm one, one that confessed to her on its own. Actions spoke louder than words, right? Unfortunately, she didn’t get the message in Ren’s smile. He wanted to just shout it out. To use a blow horn and go on the top of the highest building in Korea and announce his confession to the whole country.

But he couldn’t.

Before either of them could do anything else, the door slowly creaked open, a bit of light illuminated the room. It didn’t seem so white and dull anymore; more like a yellow shade now.
“Rinka, Ren, you guys should get ready to go back to your dorms now, okay?”

It was Headmaster’s voice. His figure crept behind the door, hoping that he wasn’t interrupting anything.
God  knows what they might’ve been doing before I walked in. He thought almost rolling his eyes. He remembered he had to stay professional, so he cleared his throat and erased his thoughts.

Ren slowly sat up, followed by Rinka and they groaned.
“Why do we have to?” Ren asked in a raspy voice. Headmaster shook his head as a reply to him, and faced his attention towards Rinka.
“Are you feeling okay,Rinka?” He asked her that question just like her father would. There was something in his tone of voice that reminded her of her father. Rinka looked up at him, wide eyed and pictured her father to be in his place.

“Are you feeling okay, Rinka?”

“Yes, I’m fine Headmaster. Thank you for asking.” Rinka replied with a smile. She tried hard to put her respective tone on volume, the complete opposite of what Ren was doing.

“N-No! I-I’m scared-d!”

Headmaster smiled lightly, and cocked his head. “Tell me if anything seems weird or if you don’t feel alright, okay?” He said.

“Sh,  it’s okay Rinka. I’m here for you. Take my hand.”

Rinka simply nodded and stood up with Ren.
“I’ll see you guys soon.” Headmaster told them before leaving.

Rinka said goodbye to Ren and went back to her dorm. It felt like it had been ages since she has seen SooYoung and ShinYeon. As she reached her dorm room, she lightly knocked on it. She knocked on It so lightly that she wasn’t even sure if they could hear it and open the door for her.

Suddenly, a girl with long brown hair and black glasses opened the door. She looked unfamiliar to her, and she was wondering what she was doing in her dorm.

“You must be Rinka.” The girl smiled at her. As confused as Rinka was, she smiled back.
“Yes, and you are?” She asked trying not to sound ignorant or obnoxious.
“My name is Yoo HyoRin. No one told you that your dorm was switched with mine?” She asked incredulously.

HyoRin thought back at the time where she confessed to JR, which was a big mistake.

“J-JR, I…really like you.”
“Yeah you know I hate your kind so why even bother to tell me you like me. I’ll make sure REN knows about this.”

She cringed at her remembrance about that night. If Ren found out that she confessed, she would be gone. Dissolved into the air. She switching dorms with Rinka was the only way to stop JR from telling him, so obviously she had to obey.

Rinka’s eyebrows furrowed. “No, how come we’re switching?” She asked her. HyoRin wasn’t prepared to answer that question regularly as if it were something natural. And she sort of at giving excuses or lies right at the spot.

“O-Oh..Well you see,” She gave a nervous chuckle as Rinka studied her, “I was having problems with my roommates,” (that actually wasn’t a lie considering she was paired up in a dorm with Krishnas everyone thought they were sinners) “and I heard a lot about you, so I figured you would get along with them more than I did.” Alright HyoRin! She thought. Way to think of a lie! It was the best one she ever pulled.

“Really? But I liked my roommates.” RInka pouted disappointed that she had to leave SooYoung and ShinYeon. They were her first girl friends at the school, or at least the girls that she talked to. And she didn’t really want to meet more girls.

“ I’m sorry,” HyoRin told her, “But you’ll still see them around!” She said to cheer up her mood. Rinka smiled at the stranger, happy that she was at least trying to cheer her up.
“I’ll just go pack my stuff.” She said before taking a step into the dorm, but HyoRin stopped her.

“To show some courtesy, I already packed yourself and set it in the dorm. The number is 312, it’s not far.” She bowed hoping RInka wouldn’t mind that she packed her belongings for her. But she didn’t mind at all, instead, she smiled big and bowed.

“Thanks! Tell SooYoung and ShinYeon I said bye~!” She sang.

“Alright let’s see. 316, 315, 313, 312- Yay! It’s this one~!” Rinka sang to herself as she reached her new dorm. She wondered how the roommates would be in this one. Would they give her advice just like SooYoung and ShinYeon did? And how come HyoRin didn’t get along with them? HyoRin was pretty nice to her, so that means that the other girls must be y.

Before Rinka could attempt opening the door, she heard a loud crash from the inside of the room. It seemed like windows were shattered, mirrors, any glass object that could possibly be in that room clashed and broke. It was from an impact of something, but it shocked Rinka too much to take any action.

She couldn’t even open the door. She stood completely frozen, unable to move. All she heard was a murderous scream of a girl that was inside the dorm room.
