“Hyung are you ready?” Seunghyun called out to Jaejin who was staring blankly from his balcony, obviously thinking of her. Seunghyun let out a soft sigh as he approached him quietly. He went next to him and patted his shoulders and stared at the garden view from the balcony his hyung was staring at.

 “I miss her.” Seunghyun let out bluntly and Jaejin couldn’t help but shot him a questioning look and Seunghyun chuckled upon his hyung’s reaction. “Now I got your attention.”

“You surely do.” Jaejin just shook his head and smiled and returned his gaze from where it was before. There was a long pause followed by a soft cold breeze that was enough to give them goosebumps as if telling them what was about to come. “Seunghyun I’m sorry.” Jaejin said all of a sudden.

This time, it was Seunghyun’s turn to be surprised. He put his arm around Jaejin’s shoulder and let it rest there for a while. “It’s not your fault hyung. I know how much you tried so save her. How many times do I have to tell you that?”

“But I—“

“Fine then, if you’re really sorry show it by kicking that dirty old demon’s .”

Jaejin let out that crazy laugh of his his and looked at his dear friend. “Sounds like a deal.” Jaejin then held out his hand for him to shake and Seunghyun took it with his free hand and tightened his other hand around his hyung’s neck.

“Now let’s go burn some old demon’s .”

“Loki, I’m no afraid to die.” A female’s voice was reassuring him over and over again but he was just too stubborn not even death could let him let go of this one and only precious creature he found.

He had everything, power, status, talents, abilities, everything was easy for a noble-elite ddemon but despite all those achievements, he felt nothing special until this creature came to his more-than-a-hundred-years-life. For other demons, a creature like her was classified lower than those powerless demons who belonged to the lower end of the hierarchy of demons. But for this demon, she was more at the top of the hierarchy, no, beyond all those status and ridiculous barriers of society, for him she was everything. He fell for a human, a human that every demon laughs at.

“But I am.” He paused to look at the fragile creature’s eyes. Everytime he looked at her eyes, he could see the reflection of his self with those two orbs. It was uncomparable to demons’ eyes which were nothing but filled with darkness but the human eyes were expressive. It tells you almost everything even those words that you couldn’t say. “I would do anything..anything..For you to..”

His words were cut off by her hush as she also snuggled in closer to him. He hugged her gently, afraid that this short-lived creature that he fell for would break into pieces anytime.

“Sssh.. didn’t we talk about this already?”

“I know but—“

“Lord Loki, I know you are a powerful demon and I know what you have in mind but like before, my answer is no.”

She said it with such gentleness and conviction at the same time and all the great demon could do was tighten his embrace around her. Just the thought of her being gone was too much to handle for him. Too much feelings and these were the same feelings that kept on driving him up to this day.

“But I love you..” He whispered.

“And I love you too.” She whispered back and they kissed softly hiding from everyone’s prejudices.

He was awakened from the dream of his beloved who was long gone by a loud bang from the outside. He was too tired to stand up especially from the dream he just had. It was almost every day that he dreamed about her but he wondered why he was dreaming about this conversation now. And that was when it hit him when he remembered what those loud crashes were for.

He let out a soft breathe as he shook his head. “Now they’ll only get theirselves hurt even if I don’t do anything.” He talked to his self when suddenly there was a loud knock on the door.

“My lord,” Leonard called out from the outside.

“Yes I know, I’ll go out now.” He stood up and snapped his fingers, changing his clothes in an instant. He opened the door and headed for the loud crashing from below his castle. “They’re faster than I thought. They just passed my 5^th barrier.” He said to Leonard in amusement.

“They have lady Adriel who is a master in weapon wielding, lady Sophia who can manipulate any kind of space, lord Seunghyun who is a hunter that can deal with any situations, lord Hongki’s insane power who can blow off anything in the way, lord Minhwan’s collection of creatures, the son of the demon king his self, prince Jonghun and..”

“And the heir of the Lee house who’s known for great spells, I know how can I forget. He’s much scarier now. I took his fiance’.” He chuckled as if not anything of what they talked about scared him.

But Leonard stayed quiet and serious. He looked at his master’s blank expression. He may chuckle from time to time but his expression remained the same, as if everything about him died already.

“What are you planning my lord?” He still asked even though he knew his master wouldn’t answer him.

“I just want to play with them a bit more.” He then paused. Thought for a few seconds, “After all, everything is pointless now. That sly niece of mine, who would’ve thought she would sacrifice..”

But even before he could finish his sentence the wall infront them shattered into pieces and the next thing they knew they were facing the young nobles.

“Leonard, looks like we need new mousetraps, look how many got in.” Loki laughed hysterically and Hongki blew a spell off toward him but Leonard was quick enough to cover his master before he could’ve disintegrated to ashes.

“Oh!! Look what we found! THE PEST AMONG ALL THE PESTS AND HIS MINION!” Hongki scoffed as Jonghun tried to calm him down. The alst thing they all wanted was Hongki losing temper. The last time he snapped, an entire forest vanished into ashes.

But the great lord just chuckled and didn’t even move an inch from where he was and continued staring at the young bunch in front him. “Are you sure you still want to fight me? Even if you all come to me at once I would still get out of here alive.”

“I don’t want to be so sure about that.” Seunghyun interrupted him and before they knew it, Seunghyun was already able to trap Loki in his place.

Loki and Leonard tried to take a step forward but after the fourth step they weren’t able to move anymore. Loki let out a smirk and looked at the demons. “Ooohh, a confining technique. When did you cast that? I didn’t even notice. As expected from the heir of the top hunting clan, very clever but I wonder how long you can confine us.”

“Until you probably disappear.” Jaejin snarled and rushed forward him to give him a blow but Leonard was fast.

“I’m sorry lord Jaejin. Even if you are my lady Seol’s fiancé, I could not let you hurt my master.”

“Save your apologies I don’t need them.”

Jaejin maneuvered to his right and Leonard blocked him, but Jaejin was quicker and was able to fire a spell to his left, making Leonard kneel on the floor.

“Just give it up we caught you already.” Adriel said all of a sudden and when the great demon and butler looked around them, weapons from different eras were already surrounding them, pointing towards them. “If you try to escape I’ll send them off and they won’t leave you alone even if you run. They’ll follow you even in the deepest part of hell. They won’t stop until they killed you.” She threatened.

“Or I could just blow your heads off before you can even escape.” Hongki suggested.

All this time Loki was just quiet until after Hongki’s remark did he burst into an insanely laughing mess. The young demons couldn’t help but look at each other as he saw him laugh. They were confused. They got him cornered but he was still laughing like this.

“He lost a screw.” Minhwan said. “Definitely a psycho.” He added as the great demon’s laugh still resonated among the walls of the castle.

They all stayed quiet as they watched the great demon’s laugh fade. He was laughing so hard he even teared his self up. “Youngsters these days are so funny.” He then smiled at them in a painful manner and finally his gaze settled at Jaejin. “How much do you love my niece?” He suddenly asked and this caught Jaejin off guard, unsure if he should answer or not. “Just answer. You got us cornered how can we pull any strings. I just want an answer.”

Jaejin shrugged unsure if he should listen to him. “Isn’t your question obvious though?” He still answered and looked around him as if telling the older demon, “I’m here risking my life just to get her back.”

Loki just smiled but still unconvinced. He decided to play a little more, knowing that what he would say next would shake them.

“What if I tell you the Seol you know is gone?” He asked and all of their faces turned white in horror.

“You! WHAT DID YOU DO TO SEOL!!” They all snarled. Adriel’s weapons were just few inches away from them. Hongki’s hand in flames, Seunghyun ready to shoot, Minhwan summoned all his creatures, ready to kill them any moment.

“Relax. I didn’t do anything.”

“Liar!!”

“Can you listen before you open your mouth! Youngesters these days… Anyway, last night, Leonard found her lying on the floor,”

“And?”

“Why don’t you see for yourself?”

“How will we know you are not pulling off anything?” Seunghyun asked.

“Of course you will not know that.” Loki laughed. “But this time, you have my word. You are free to see her. I won’t even try to escape from this confining spell, even Leonard.” They all looked skeptically at him, not sure what he was planning. “I don’t need her anymore. She’s all yours. She’s in the room at the top most part of the east wing of this castle. You’ll find her there, lying PEACEFULLY on her bed.”

They all gasped in horror upon hearing him and Jaejin made a run for it, all logic was gone now. Just what did he mean by not here, by lying peacefully on her bed? He was not thinking straight anymore and rushed off the scene.

“Jaejin! It might be a trap!” They called out for him but it was too late.

Jaejin was ready for anything. He was up for anything that can come up to him. He just couldn’t take it anymore, the thought of losing her was just too overwhelming his heart grew heavier and heavier each second as he think of it. The next thing he did was rush off to the place where she was. He needed her in his arms right now more than ever.

“I’ll follow him.” Hongki said to them and they all nodded and Hongki ran after Jaejin as soon as he got the signal.

They all watched Hongki’s back disappear from the darkness of the castle. The silence resonated, the tension was growing intense. “That boy, I wonder how he can handle this.” Loki said out loud, talking to his self more actually. “Even I didn’t see this coming.”

I'm lucky to have a "sort of break" but everything is just too overwhelming in my lfe right now i barely have time to write.. but i'll try to finish this  in the following weeks to come (no promises ><) i just hope everything will trun out less y.. :(
