The following day, the five boys decided to spend some time with their families. They were too preoccupied with their life in the human world, guarding the keeper and not to mention they had their own relationships to handle. Despite their abilities, their powers, nothing came easy with their lives as a noble demon.

“You know, I bet she misses you a lot too.” Chae-won, Jaejin’s sister suddenly said to him while spacing out in the front yard. He was startled with what she had said but returned to staring out at the garden and wondering.

“She doesn’t even remember us.” Jaejin said with complete sadness in his tone. “I know this is our decision but I can’t help but still get this feeling.” He tried defending himself, knowing very well he agreed about their current situation. He was actually the one who supported it very much.

“You know, there are things that the mind can forget but the heart cannot.” This got Jaejin’s interest and he faced his sister and waited for her next words. “Just believe in her Jaejin, believe in Seol.”

He nodded in agreement and let out a soft smile. His sister suddenly pinched his cheeks really hard and it looked like she had no plans of stopping anytime soon.

“Noonaaa!! Let go of me!” He whined but she only pressed harder.

“By the way, where were you last night? We were waiting for you but you came home really late. Don’t tell me you slept with HER again.” He froze with what she said and she knew she hit the bull’s eye and grabbed him by the collar before he managed to escape.  Sparks were coming out of her little by little and Jaejin started to panic. “How many times do I have to tell you—“

“I ENDED EVERYTHING LAST NIGHT!” He shouted in panic and he was able to get free from her grasp. His sister’s hand was starting to form more sparks than before, ready to release it to Jaejin if he said anything wrong.

“Explain.”

“I told her to find someone else and that’s it we’re done.” She suddenly calmed down and the sparks around her disappeared. Jaejin heaved out a sigh, knowing that it was safe already. “But you know noona, I’m glad you like Seol this much. You like her so much that you’ll end up killing me because I slept with another woman.” And with his words, Chae-won zapped him and it was enough to send him flying and only stopped when his back hit a tree. “NOONA! Why did you do that?!” He shouted as he coughed in between.

“You said it yourself, you slept with another woman. You unloyal ert. I am ashamed of you as my brother!” She was about to release another thunder at him but he nudged it perfectly.

“I told you I ended it all last night!”

“Yeah, after you slept with her! You can’t fool me Lee Jaejin!! The marks on your neck are very visible. Let me remove those marks with my lightning.” Her hand glowed again and Jaejin made a run for it before his sister turned him into a barbecue.

He wondered around and decided to not go back to their mansion until it was safe to return. Just the mere thought of his sister was enough to send shivers down his spine. He walked around the familiar streets of the underworld, demons that recognized him bowed along the way. Everyone was staring at him since it was very peculiar for a noble to be walking alone in the public without any guards. He smiled at the thought and remembered how Seol and him used to walk the same streets without any chaperones with both of them ending up getting grounded for sneaking out. He was overflowed with memories of her as he continued strolling down and looking at the shops they used to come to. Seol was pretty simple, wasn’t hard to please, a simple strolling together could make her smile from ear to ear.

“Yow, need a ride?” The voice was made to sound like that of a pimp’s and Jaejin chuckled when he saw Hongki and entered the carriage instantly. “Where you heading?”

“I don’t know actually. Anywhere away from my sister will do.”

“Why? What’s up with Chae-won noona?”

“Zap! Zap! Fly!”

“Ohh.. I’m on my way to Jonghun, want to come then?”

“Like I told you, I’m up for anything.”

When they arrived at the palace, they were escorted to the Prince’s room. It was not as if it was their first time there. It was more of a “tradition” that the household treat the guests very well even if you were a regular visitor or not and besides, it was the underworld’s royal palace. The maid closed the door slowly as she bowed to them and took her leave. Jaejin was taken aback when he saw Seunghyun in the room and the sudden tension in the air arose.

“Oh, you’re here too.” Hongki said to Seunghyun and he just nodded to acknowledge him and he glanced at Jaejin coldly, ignoring his presence. Hongki and Jonghun noticed the two were ignoring each other. Jonghun looked at Hongki and he just shrugged his shoulders.

“So what brings you here?” Jonghun decided to break the silence as the four of them settled down on the couches.

“Just bored.” Hongki said honestly.

“I just need to be away from my sister for a bit.” Jaejin answered as he played with the prince’s lizard. He let it move freely on his tummy when it suddenly entered his shirt.

“What? Why?” The prince wondered since he knew that Jaejin and his noona actually had a good relationship. He helped Jaejin in getting the lizard off of him since he was starting to panic.

“Jonghun, get this lizard out of my shirt!” Jaejin whined while Hongki was laughing and Seunghyun was trying to hold his laughter. Jonghun then grabbed Jaejin’s collar and fished the the lizard out of his back. Jaejin sighed in relief but Jonghun couldn’t help but notice the marks on Jaejin’s neck.

“Ha! Who did you sleep with last night?! Is it that Jezebel again?”Jonghun and Hongki was about to join in but he stopped when he saw Jaejin’s reaction and Seunghyun was clenching his fist. The two older demons were suddenly silenced by the tension in the air. They looked at each other and Hongki immediately went to Jonghun’s side just in case a fight broke out between the younger two so that  he wouldn’t have to be in between.

“I ended everything with Jezebel okay.” Jaejin suddenly said but he was talking to Seunghyun only though the younger boy wasn’t looking at him. “There was nothing going on right from the beginning.” He then started explaining but Seunghyun burst out in rage.

“NOTHING MY ! YOU ED HER NOT ONCE BUT MANY TIMES, HYUNG!” Seunghyun shouted and they were all shocked with what he said. They all knew about Jaejin’s physical relationship with that demon but they decided to keep quiet about it, thinking that it was nothing but a mere satisfaction of needs, but it turned out to be a big deal for Seunghyun.

“AND SO I DID! BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN I LOVE HER OR ANYTHING! STOP ACTING SO CLEAN AND LOYAL WHEN YOU YOURSELF GOT ED LAST NIGHT!”

“I AM NOT THE ONE WHO IS COMMITTED HERE!”

“OH YEAH? YOU THINK YOU’LL DO A BETTER JOB OF BEING A BOYFRIEND OF SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T EVEN HAVE A MEMORY OF YOU! LET ALONE SHE ONLY KNEW OF MY EXISTENCE JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO! YOU’RE SO GOOD AT IT WHY DON’T WE SWITCH POSITIONS!”

“OH DAMN RIGHT I’LL DO ANYTHING TO BE IN YOUR POSITION HYUNG! I LOVE HER TOO DON’T FORGET THAT!” With the sudden exchange of words and the shouting and outburst of emotions they were all silenced when old issues resurfaced. “You have no idea how it hurts to be in love with someone who doesn’t love you back.” Seunghyun’s voice softened. He knew he had no right to be mad at Jaejin but he couldn’t help it. He was watching them from afar, for years he kept his feelings to himself knowing that it will remain unanswered since the girl he loved was in love with his hyung. He took all the pain and greeted their relationship with a smile. Now that she had no memories of them, he couldn’t help but feel bad for her, knowing that her guy was sleeping with another woman.

“Hyunnie, I’m sorry okay. I let my vulnerability took over me for these past few years so I slept with her. But it doesn’t mean anything. You’re a guy too you know what I mean. You just do that but in the end it means nothing but .” Jaejin approached Seunghyun after seeing him calm down from his outburst. He was aware of Seunghyun’s feelings for his girlfriend but there was nothing he could do about it but fulfill his promise to take care of her no matter what. It just so happened that in the decision they made, they all had to suffer the pain of being forgotten by someone important to them.

“Come on you guys, kiss and make up now. We’ve been through worse. Let’s not break up now okay?” Hongki said as he threw his arms over the two demons’ necks and they all looked at him confusingly.

“What even made you say that?” Jaejin suddenly exclaimed and grabbed Seunghyun by the waist and buried his face on his neck. “I love this guy so much.” Jaejin said and Seunghyun chuckled, knowing very well what Jaejin meant but he had to remove him off of him since it was kind of awkward.

“Are you two in a secret relationship?” Jonghun questioned them seriously and Seunghyun and Jaejin laughed out loud at the Prince’s remark.

“Hyung stop accusing us of being gay when you and Hongki-hyung can’t stand not seeing each other even for one day.” Seunghyun teased and the four of them laughed together, enjoying the blessed feeling of having one another to lean on in times like this.

“Where is Minhwan by the way?” Hongki suddenly noticed the lack of presence of the younger one.

“He’s out on a date with Adriel and his sister.” Seunghyun said.

“Aww.. too bad he’s missing all of this. So, the two of you okay now? “Hongki asked just to make sure.

Seunghyun stared at his hyung and Jaejin stared back. “Only if he promises to stop around.” Seunghyun said with a chuckle but serious at the same time.

“Is that promise for me or for the prince?” Jaejin chuckled and they all laughed at what he said. “I promise to stop sleeping around.” Jaejin then said and Seunghyun smiled at him. “But what about my needs then?” He suddenly said and Seunghyun smacked his head. “I’m kidding! I’m kidding!” Jaejin replied in defense.

“I wonder how long you can keep that promise. After all, there is no definite time when everything will go back to normal. It’s been 5 years but we’re still nowhere near the tail of the enemy.” Hongki said in worry and they all knew the situation they were in.

“I’m not sure if you are more worried about my life or you’re worried about the enemies.” Jaejin laughed at Hongki. He tried changing the topic so he wouldn’t feel so lonely again. These guys helped him a lot so he didn’t want them to be more worried than they already were. “And besides, 5 years are nothing for the life span of demons. We live over thousands of years so why even bother.” What he said was true, but those 5 years passed like eternity for Jaejin. It was like living through his entire lifespan and draining life out of him.

“Stop acting so tough. If you’re lonely, show it. You don’t have to pretend in front of us.” Jonghun said to him and he just gave a weak smile in return. Seunghyun gave him a pat on the back and so did the two other demons.
