“We should have a fireplace in our forever house.”

Minho looks up from where he’s pouring milk into his cereal.

“We should?”

“It’d be romantic!”

“What’s romantic about cleaning ashes?”

“Uhh, writing messages in it for whoever’s cleaning it, obviously.”

Minho laughs and continues eating his cereal. He lets Jonghyun have his moment, listening as he describes every reason why a fireplace would be perfect: a mantle for photos, momentos, and Christmas stockings; obvious warmth; romantic photo backdrop; great resell value. The last one catches him off-guard.

“If it’s our forever home why are we worried about resell value?”

“Well, I mean sometimes forever homes aren’t actually forever and you have to be prepared but also if it is our forever home then whoever inherits it from us will have to sell it, won’t they?”

Minho raises an eyebrow.

“Are we having children?”

Jonghyun pauses then sputters a quick “that’s not what I meant!”

Minho reaches out a hand to him. “Baby you know I was just teasing. Normally it’s kids who inherit things, yeah? I know we’re fully capable of like leaving our house to Sodam’s kids or Amber’s kids or the poolboy or someone.”

Relief washes over Jonghyun’s face.

“Thanks, honey. For understanding.”

“Also, if we’re making a wishlist for the house, I want a pool.”
