Against All Odds“How was your school today sweetheart?” Tiffany smiled as she carried Emily in her arms. She was in the young girl’s room at the time. “It was fun.” Emily responded in English. Tiffany had been brushing up her daughter’s English for the past one month. The young girl had clearly forgotten her English ever since she had been spending more time with her father.
“Really? That’s good.” Tiffany smiled before she gave her daughter a kiss on her cheek. “Yeah. We made a family tree at school today.” Emily informed excitedly. “I drew you and daddy.” Emily added. Tiffany just forced herself a smile.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door and both of them turned to look at the person. “Hey baby girl.” Nickhun smiled as he was referring to his daughter before he walked inside the room. He just got back from a dinner meeting with a client. At the time, it was almost 9pm. Emily went down from Tiffany and went to hug her father.
Tiffany stood up from her daughter’s bed and walked out of the door since she didn’t have the mood to be in the same room with the guy. But before she could leave the room, her arm was being held. “Are you okay babe?” He asked his ex-wife.
“Yeah.” Tiffany nodded her without even looking at him and then she released her arm from the guy’s grip and walked out of the room. She walked towards her room. Thank god they didn’t share a room. Although Nickhun specifically mentioned that sooner or later they might have to sleep in the same room again, Tiffany managed to delay it. Clearly the guy wanted to give the marriage another try which was against her will. “If I can’t have you, you can’t have Emily.” Nickhun once said to her.
As for the time being, Mrs Hwang managed to persuade Nickhun to agree to share the custody of Emily as long as Tiffany remained living in his house and also she must follow some of the terms agreed by the court. If ever Tiffany disobeyed any of it, sole custody would be granted to Nickhun.
Tiffany sat on her bed as she stared blankly at the wall. She had never felt so alone in her life. She literally had no one to support her mentally and physically. She then stared at the table clock and she was starting to get anxious since Taeyeon promised to call her before the end of the day but sadly there was no call yet. By the way, Nickhun only allowed her to make phone calls or received any phone calls using the house phone.
Suddenly there was a knock on her door and the maid appeared. “Ms Tiffany, there’s a call for you.” The maid said politely as she brought in the cordless phone from downstairs. Tiffany stood up from the bed and quickly took the phone. “Thanks.” Tiffany said before she closed her door.
“Tae?” She said through the phone.
“Sorry for calling a bit late. Lindsay came over just now.” Taeyeon informed. Lindsay was the American woman who worked with her. “It’s okay Tae.” Tiffany said softly. “Did you speak to her?” Tiffany went straight to the point.
“Hmm I’m sorry Tiff. Mrs Kim said she has left the house last week.” Taeyeon revealed something that literally crushed Tiffany’s heart into pieces. She felt like she was about to break down. Tiffany didn’t have the courage to say anything.
“Tiffany? Are you still there?” Taeyeon asked.
“Yes I’m here.” Tiffany answered with a crack voice.
“I’m really sorry.” Taeyeon mumbled softly. That was the only thing that she could say to her best friend at that point.
