Chapter 1: Best Friends forever right?

Kiara’s POV

It was never easy at first place moving to this unfamiliar neighbourhood with my inability to speak like locals. I sighed to myself as I remembered how stupid I was for not practicing my mother tongue language fluently back in England. This reminds me to not take things for granted as we never know when we need the skills in the future. I had a hard time adjusting in my new school and I was bullied and labelled as an “Arrogant Wannabe White ” for using English as a way to communicate with people. Nevertheless, I overcame the hardships with the help of two angels that meant the world to me, Kim Sera and Song Sunhi.

*Flashback*

“Do you even learn manners in England?” said the tall girl with big eyes who had been staring down at me fiercely. I nodded timidly afraid that I might offend her even more. The other girl who I assumed her devoted followers, step on my thigh seemed unsatisfied with the answers that I gave.

“YAH! ARE YOU MUTE? CANT YOU ANSWER HER CLEARLY?” the pain grew even more as she kept pressing my thigh with her filthy and unsanitary foot. I finally gathered my courage to answer her “ y-es..i am sorry…if I offend y-ou..i will make sure next time to talk formally” i held back the groan at the back of my throat.

The tall girl leaned down and held my chin to face her up “ It is called courtesy. Sunbaenim is for a senior like me. You don’t call me by my name, “you” or even worse “yaaa”. You understand me new girl?” she snickered. I nodded weakly as my tears cascaded down slowly hitting the ground. The other girl lifted her foot off from my thigh and walked away leaving the broken me alone. As I was about to get up, I saw two pairs of hands before me offering help. I looked up and I saw two girls with not much difference in height staring at me with their concern looks.

The girl with cute bangs broke the silence “Let us help you. You do not seem alright” her voice sounded friendly and she gave me a sincere smile. I hesitated at first because I was afraid of meeting fake people who ended up hurting me again.

I heard another soft voice talking to me “ Don’t worry we won’t hurt you, we just want to help. Trust us, please?” the other girl with smiley eyes convinced me. I was in pain and couldn’t even stand up by my own; therefore I reached out and hold their hands as a support. They brought me to school’s medical room and I was treated by the friendly and kind school nurse. Both of them left for awhile and came back with the principal Mrs Song.

I was taken aback to see the principal and bowed at her politely, however she insisted for me to sit down as she didn’t want I got hurt. “I heard from Miss Song and Miss Kim that you were hurt. Mind to tell me what happen?” she sounded concern.

“I tripped. I am sorry” I hung my head down afraid to tell the truth about those bullies. I was sure they would be after me if I ever told anyone about the incident.

The girl with bangs hissed “ Liar. You weren’t tripped; I was there with Sera witnessing the whole thing. You should not be afraid of telling the truth. You must protect yourself from those bullies”

The other girl whom I assumed named Sera nodded in agreement “ We saw the girls treated you awfully. Don’t worry we will be your witness; we cannot let this thing slide. It is a serious offence. It is never okay for anyone to get bully that is just so wrong. I am sorry if I am overreacting but I don’t like to see people getting hurt” I chuckled at her last word a little.

I did not want to cause trouble here not when it was only my first month in the school. The principal took my hand and gently rubbed it “Dear, tell me is it true you were bullied? Remember this is not a petty case, you must tell me then only I can help you and the bully” her words were as warmth as her presence. I missed this motherly attention.

“Y-e..yes. I was bullied by these senior girls. They were never satisfied with anything that I did and made fun of my ability to speak fluent Korean. I apologized for causing trouble please do not punish them. I promised to diligently work out my Korean skills and adjust in this new environment” I held back my tears which by anytime soon might roll down. Sera and the girls with bang sat beside me and held my hand tights assuring everything will be alright.

“From now on we will be protecting you just like how we protect our delicious lunch boxes from being stole” the girls with bang cracked a not so funny joke but it made me smile a little.I could feel the sincerity from these two girls and ever since then we were never apart from each other.

*End of Flashback*

Sunhi’s chirpy voice brought me back to reality “Oi, Cho Kiara I have been looking for you everywhere. Don’t you know how hard it is to walk in these heels?” she pouted.
