Bad Wolf
In Search of Meaning"Yes, sir," D.O spoke into the phone cheerfully, heart-shaped smile in full bloom. "I'll be sure to pass the message on to Mr. Lee. Thank you, again, for your generous donation. If you are not busy tonight, Mr. Lee would like to personally treat you to a fine meal at Pierre Gagnaire à Séoul." He paused for a moment to listen to what the man on the other end had to say, and his smile faltered slightly. "No, sir, I'm afraid it will only be the Director who will accompany you, for I am far too busy." He bowed his head a little as if the man was right in front of him, "You flatter me, sir. Mr. Lee will contact you later to confirm the details. Have a good day, sir. Au Revoir."
He chuckled as he pulled the phone away from his ear, and as soon as he set it down on the receiver, his smile switched to a scowl, "Vous avez le corps d'un chien et le QI d'un enfant de cinq ans."
"Woah," Kai commented as he entered the office, and laid files on D.O's desk. "Who has the body of a dog and IQ of a five year old?"
D.O waved his hand nonchalantly as rested his feet onto his desk, "Just some wealthy old fart the Director ered into donating a load of money to SM." He jerked his chin up at Kai, "What about you? What took you so long to get here? It's not a long walk from the Records Room."
Kai shrugged, "I got held up by Kyuhyun on the way."
"Really? What were you two talking about that added an extra," he glanced at the clock on the wall, "ten minutes to your walk?"
"Nothing much," Kai said as he sat down on the left edge of D.O's desk. "He just gave me the whole spiel about not betraying the company over personal feelings."
"Let me guess," D.O brought his feet down, and leaned forward in his chair. "You told him about your mixed feelings regarding Jinki." Kai nodded, and the older man sighed, "You're just too soft for this line of work, Jongin."
"I know, 'Soo," Kai agreed with a frown, having had this conversation multiple times with his co-worker. "But, you know why I can't just quit."
D.O wheeled his chair closer to Kai in order to take one of his hands into both of his own, "Yeah, yeah. You want to make your father proud, and uphold the family reputation, blah, blah, blah." He rubbed soothing circles into the back of Kai's hand with his thumb, and said, "In my opinion, you should just stick it to them, and come with me to the States. We could get married, and have a future, a life, together without anyone saying otherwise. Forget about your crappy family, and this damn lab. You know I have connections, connections that'll help us disappear. Just say the word, Jongin, and we're gone."
"Kyungsoo," Kai exhaled shakily, and looked down at D.O with watery eyes, "I can't. As much as I want to, I can't just abandon my family."
D.O pressed his lips together, and nodded in understanding, "Of course, because you're too soft. Come here, and give me a kiss." He motioned for Kai to scooch closer, and the younger obliged as he moved so that he was sitting directly in front of D.O. Cupping the nape of his neck with both of his small hands, D.O pulled Kai down into a chaste kiss.
When they separated, Kai asked, "Shouldn't we have closed the door before doing this?"
"Oh, yeah. Here," D.O smirked, and waved his left hand at the door. Kai looked over his shoulder to watch the wood door close and lock itself. "Done."
He looked back at D.O accusingly, "You're wearing the ring again, aren't you?"
"Yep," the older grinned up at him as he wiggled the fingers of his left hand, one of which was donning a metal ring with a line of circuitry banding its center. He waved his hand again, and all the blinds on the windows next to the door closed, blocking anyone from seeing inside.
Kai groaned, "'Soo, it's supposed to stay locked up in the warehouse, especially since it's a prototype. How many times do we need to go over this?"
"Oh, come on. I know it turns you on whenever I use it. Besides," he grinned devilishly as he curled his fingers like he was holding an invisible pole. "How can I resist having the ability to touch you whenever I want to?"
Kai gasped when D.O moved his hand in an upward motion, and he clutched onto the elder's wrist, "Stop. Not here."
D.O chuckled at the adorable blush spreading on Kai's face, "Aw, so cute."
Glaring down at the shorter man, Kai replied firmly, "I'm not cute. You're the squishy one, here." He emphasized his words by pinching D.O's cheeks, causing the older to grimace and return the glare.
"Yeah, a squishy Satan if you don't let go," D.O threatened, and Kai heeded the warning, letting his hands fall to his lap with a smirk on his lips.
"Seriously, though, I'm not in the mood for office ," Kai stated. "As tempting as it is, I don't want a repeat of what happened last time."
"Haha!" D.O barked a laugh at the memory. "Oh, the look on Suho's face was priceless."
"Sorry, I didn't see it over my life-altering, apocalyptic embarrassment," the younger deadpanned.
D.O only laughed harder, "Hey, at least you were the one topping then."
At that moment, the phone sitting at the opposite corner of the desk started ringing, and D.O groaned as he moved away from Kai to answer it. After saying a curt 'Hello', D.O's eyes widened as he looked over at Kai.
"Yeah, we'll be right down," D.O said into the phone before hanging up.
"What's going on?" Kai asked as he hopped down from the desk.
The shorter man stood up, and straightened his black jacket, "We're called to be on standby for Cage 3. There's going to be a match in 20 minutes, between Leo and Bad Wolf."
Kai's expression mimicked D.O's when the older answered the phone, "You're ting me."
"I wish I was," D.O responded as he started towards the door. "Now, come on. Let's go get the stun guns from the armory. I'm pretty sure we're gonna need the maximum strength ones."

Leo's ears drooped as he was being led away from the hospital wing, through the familiar white hallways of the lab. His hands were cuffed in front of him, and there were eight suits escorting him; four walking in front, and four trailing behind. As soon as the doctors deemed him perfectly fine, the suits came to take him away. To his dismay, he knew where they were going, for there was no other reason to have so many guards with him.
They're going to make me fight, again, Leo thought dreadfully.
I wonder who....
They came to a stop in front of a large elevator, and as soon as the doors opened they all filed in. Leo turned around to face the front of the elevator, and glanced over the shoulders clad in black standing between him and his way out. Even though he knew there was no way he could actually escape them, he liked to daydream about multiple ways he would do it. He even zoned out during the brief 30 seconds it took for the lift to descend to their desired floor.
I'd hook my cuffed hands around this guy's neck, Leo imagined the scene, eyeing the man standing in front of him.
Then, I'd pull back as hard as I can in order to either choke him, or break his neck. While doing this, I'd turn us both in a circle, so that I can kick away the guards standing behind me while simultaneously using the first guy as a shield.
Or, even better, if I just got a hold of one of their stun guns- scratch that, it's my daydream, so let's make it a real gun- and I'd slowly take them all out one by one. By the time the elevator comes to a stop, all of them would be lying on the floor; dead, or passed out.
Ding!
The elevator jerked to a halt, and the doors opened; the small smirk that grew on Leo's face during his dreaming vanished as he realized all the suits were perfectly fine.
Tsk....
With a heavy heart, he followed the deplorable men out and into the familiar concrete corridor that always promised pain. Along the hall were many metal doors, built for withstanding the force of a nuclear bomb. However, they weren't meant for keeping enemies out, but to keep the subjects in. Leo has heard the suits and scientists refer to the rooms as "cages", and he thinks they were right to label them as such.
They arrived at the end of the hall, where the largest cage was. One of the suits stepped forward, and pressed his security badge against the scanner to the right of the doorway. With a beep, the heavy metal barrier slowly sank down until it disappeared into the floor.
Leo dug his heels into the tile floor as two suits grabbed him by the shoulders, and dragged him across the threshold to toss him into the large room. Like most rooms in the lab, the walls were white. However, what made the cages different were the dirt covered floors, making the small spaces into mini arenas.
The wolf man fell onto his hands and knees, or more like his elbows and knees for his hands were still
