It had been a month since Haneul and Hwayoung had joined NH Media for Haneul’s independent investigation and surprisingly Hwayoung still hadn’t found out Haneul’s purpose yet. Hwayoung was still wondering on a daily basis what it was that Haneul was investigating that required her to become a K-Pop star and waste a few years of her life. Haneul had also been investigating on the background, personalities and information of many K-Pop groups and stars, often late into the night.

During the month that the two of them had spent with the three other girls, plenty had happened. Haneul had never felt her life to be so full of vigour, despite many years of vigorous training (pardon the pun), both mentally and physically, she had never felt as alive as this. Or rather, she hadn’t felt as alive as this since 8 years ago, when her sister was still alive.

Everyone, both the girls and the U-Kiss boys, had gotten used to Haneul’s 4D personality and little quirks. It surprised Haneul how quickly they had managed to know about her little quirks and strange bits and she wondered to herself if they were all secret agents as well. Haneul herself got to know all the girls and the guys. She knew Eun Ae as the hyper, aegyo-doing little bunny who was more like the maknae than Haneul ever would be, Soo Jin the sometimes cold and strict one who was actually secretly a kid inside and Hye Su the motherly one, always taking care of the younger members.

President Kim Nam Hee had also decided that the group name would either be Athena; the Goddess of War and Wisdom,  Artemis; the Goddess of the Hunt and the Protector of Young Women, or Vega; the brightest star in the constellation Lyra and the second brightest star in the northern celestial hemisphere. Just by the naming the girls knew that they weren’t going to be debuting as a cutesy girl group. In fact, the fact that their debut album’s title song was about a harsh break-up and the video concept was slightly towards the darker end. The main girl (they hadn’t chosen whom yet) would be breaking up with a repeated offender cheating boyfriend and was throwing all his things out the window. The boyfriend though, was extremely stubborn and refused to move out because he was using the girl. This leads to a fight between the guy and the girl and the girl ends up being injured because she was weaker than the boy. (Haneul dislike this. She believed that not all women were weaker than men, with personal experience)

Haneul was surprised the MV was being planned out already before the president had even decided on the name for the group. But then again, to Haneul, it wasn’t her place to speak up about this. She only contributed ideas when the President asked for them.

In the month that had passed, NHMedia had also finally opened a ‘NHMedia’ youtube channel. The President used the ‘ukiss2008’ youtube channel to promote it with hints that there’ll be goodies to come along soon.

“Noona! Take a picture with me!” Haneul heard Dongho shout. “I wanna put it on twitter!”

“And why should I do that?” Haneul said, raising an eyebrow and tapping her foot on the ground with her arms crossed, “Wouldn’t that only reveal my identity and ruin our plans for a month from now?”

“No, we’ll take a picture together and we’ll both have sunglasses on. Then I’ll post it on twitter and say that you’re a trainee!”

“But I’m not.” Haneul said.

“But it’ll create hype, will it not?” Dongho pointed out.

Haneul thought about it then nodded, “You’re smarter than I thought, Dongho.”

“Why thank y-… Hey! What’s that supposed to mean!”

“Nothing.” Haneul quickly replied as she fished out a pair of sunglasses from her handbag (normal ones, not IAI ones) and put them on. Dongho quickly fished out a pair of sunglasses too and pulled out his phone. He then opened a camera program and he and Haneul both posed for the camera. Dongho had a half smile, half open mouth expression whilst Haneul just stuck her tongue out at the camera and both of them held up their small cups of coffee to show off to the camera . After he took the picture and he showed it to Haneul who nodded and said it was passable and she gave him permission to upload it, he opened his twitter application on his phone and uploaded the picture of him and Haneul to twitter pic. He then added a link of it and tweeted “Haneul noona and I looking cool with noona’s awesome lattesㅋㅋㅋㅋ. We look cool, right??”

He tweeted the picture then started switching the screen to another game app. After playing the game for five minutes he went back to the twitter application and looked at the responses he got. “Keke. Noona! They’re interested in who ‘Haneul noona’ is!”

“Wait! You mentioned my name? I thought you were just supposed to say I’m a trainee.” Haneul said and frowned slightly, “Are you sure the President will allow you to do that?”

“Of course, of course.” He replied while flapping his arm, “Why wouldn’t appa let me do that? Here, I’ll answer these fangirls’ questions now.” He said and then tweeted back to a random person who replied to the question asking, “Who’s this Haneul noona? Waah~ She looks pretty! ㅋㅋ. And of course the two of you look cool!” Dongho tweeted back, “Haneul noona’s a trainee here at NH Media! ㅎㅎㅎLook forward to and please support her possible future debut, she’s super cool. ㅋㅋ”

“That’s nice of you to think I’m cool.” Haneul said and smirked slightly at him as he stuck his tongue out in reply.

“Shin Dongho.” They heard a strict voice coming from the doorway of the small café section of the NH Media office. The two of them looked up to see President Kim there.

“What’s wrong appa?” Dongho asked while he sipped on his coffee.

“One, it’s bad for you to drink coffee when you’re still so young, Dongho. Two, who gave you permission to take a picture together with Haneul and post it up?” He asked strictly.

“Why? I can’t?”

“No. But you should’ve asked first anyway.” He said and sighed.

“Appa… How did you find out so quickly though?” Dongho said with wide eyes, “You don’t stalk our twitters, do you?”

“No. Let’s just say I was in the right place at the right time. What were you thinking revealing Haneul to the world like that when we were trying to keep all the girls a secret anyway?”

“It’s fine, it’s fine!” Dongho waved it off then quickly pulled out his phone and started gaming again. Haneul couldn’t help but the chuckle at how Dongho was always trying to game in every spare moment he had. She patted his head just with a slight bit of affection in her eyes and unfortunately (or not) for her, President Kim saw it. He smiled slightly at how the originally cold and threatening girl had warmed up so quickly. He blamed it on the warmhearted (and craziness) of the boys and girls.

“And I’m also going to release to the press this afternoon that NH Media is going to be debuting a girl group.” President Kim said casually, “Anyway, as to your question about the name of the group, I’ve decided to let the fans decide it.”

“How will you do that?” Dongho paused his game to look up at the president with questioning eyes.

“I’ll set up a poll online and link to it on the NHMedia channel on youtube and also get your manager to tweet about it. Of course you boys are free to help promote it even more. In fact that’s a very good idea. I demand all of you to either retweet your manager’s tweet or tweet about it yourself.” He said in a jokingly serious voice then all of a sudden his phone rang and he exited the room.

“Well… I reckon I should go now. Bye noona!” Dongho said cheerfully and ran out the room too.

Haneul and Hwayoung were stretching in a corner of the practise room when all of a sudden they heard Eun Ae’s excited voice call out to them. “Yah! Haneul-ah, Hwayoun-ah, come here!” They each raised an eyebrow and just silently walked over.

“Look! President-nim says he’s going to let the fans vote about our group name! How exciting. It’s exciting, isn’t it?” Eun Ae said hyperly.

“Yeah. He told me before.” Haneul nodded.

“He did?” Eun Ae blinked, “When?”

“About half an hour age while I was having coffee.”

“Ah… Then why didn’t you tell me?” Eun Ae pouted and puffed up her cheeks, using her infinite abilities at aegyo.

“Well you didn’t ask, so I didn’t know I was supposed to tell you, you see.” Haneul explained and then started heading back towards the corner she and Haneul were stretching in when all of a sudden she felt a hand grab her left arm. Her first reaction was to spin around and strike, but luckily for her Hwayoung grabbed her other arm and stopped her.

“Be careful.” Hwayoung hissed at Haneul. Haneul simply slowly nodded and turned around to Eun Ae.

“What’s wrong now?” Haneul asked slowly.

“You took a picture with Dongho!” Eun Ae exclaimed.

“Yes, yes I did.” Haneul nodded.

“Did the president seriously allow you to? But it’s cool anyway!” Eun Ae said and tweeted back to Dongho’s tweet saying, “Of course my two dongsaengs look cool! ㅋㅋ.”

“What’s so interesting about twitter?” Haneul said with a look of perplexity upon her face, “I don’t understand why all the U-Kiss boys, you and the two other girls are so into twitter.”

“It’s fun!” Eun Ae exclaimed then Haneul swore she saw a light bulb light up above Eun Ae’s head, “Haneul-ah! I’m a genius! I’ve got a great idea!”

“You want me to make a twitter, I’m guessing.” Haneul said lamely and gave her a look.

“You should make a tw-… Hey! How did you guess?” Eun Ae pouted.

“I wonder, I wonder.” Haneul said and sighed at Eun Ae. Eun Ae wasn’t stupid academically, but other than that… Haneul would rather not say.

“Right. Whatever. Well make one anyway!” Eun Ae said excitedly and dragged Haneul onto the floor with her and gestured for her to take her phone out. Haneul sighed and pulled her phone out and just let Eun Ae deal with the process of making her a twitter account. Haneul continued stretching, although it wasn’t very necessary seeing as she was so flexible anyways. She did it anyways just in case though.

“Haneul-ah, is HaneulJang93 okay for your username?” Eun Ae called out to Haneul who had her legs up on the side bar doing the splits.

“Of course.” Haneul called out as she retrieved her leg from the bar.

“And do you want me to use your English name or your Korean name for this?”

“Either will do fine.” Haneul said as she placed the next leg up on the bar and continued stretching.

“Then let’s use your English name since it sounds cool!” Eun Ae said cheerfully. Haneul just grunted unemotionally.

“Here Haneul!” Eun Ae said with a wide smile after a few minutes as she handed Haneul’s phone back to her.

Haneul looked at the screen to see that Eun Ae had used the username ‘HaneulJang93’ just like she said she would and also used the name ‘Skylar Jang’. She looked at the biography section and noticed that it mentioned she was ‘the real Jang Haneul’. Haneul chuckled at this. What other Jang Haneul would there be?

“I also made you follow me, Soo Jin, Hye Su and the rest of U-Kiss’s accounts already!” Eun Ae said brightly, “Oh! But they probably won’t notice the fact that they’ve got one new follower so they won’t follow you back until you tell them.” Eun Ae said and then remembered something and snatched Haneul’s phone back out of her hands. She quickly saved the picture of Haneul together with Dongho and posted it as Haneul’s profile picture. “There we go! A profile is never complete without the profile picture of course!”

Contrary to what Eun Ae said though, Dongho must have been extremely bored and was looking at all his new followers since just a minute later as Soo Jin and Hye Su strolled in through the doors, Haneul received a text message from Dongho.

Noona made a twitter! I like your profile picture! ;) ㅋㅋ.

Haneul blinked a few times then texted back.

My little namdongsaeng Shin Dongho… You must be bored to death if you’re seriously able to spot a new follower out of hundreds of thousands of them. And ㅎㅎyour profile picture is very nice too ;)

After just a few seconds Haneul received another text message back. “Gee he’s a fast texter.” Haneul thought aloud.

Because it’s noona of course Dongho has to notice! :D

Haneul sighed and laughed and texted him back one line before putting her phone on lock.

You silly boy.

“President-nim says we are to record our practise dance video for today,” Soo Jin said in her cool, calm voice as she dropped her bag on the floor with a loud thunk which only caused Haneul to wonder what was in that bag. “And the day after and the day after if it’s needed. But I’m sure it’s not since we’re fast learners. He wants to upload it on the NH Media youtube channel as soon as possible so we should learn quickly to please him, yeah?” Soo Jin said with a brief, quick smile which Haneul found seemed to lighten her always icy face.

“Which dance then?” Haneul said in a voice equally as cool as Soo Jin’s as she placed her phone gently on the phone, pushing herself up.

“How about we do a U-Kiss cover?” Hye Su said thoughtfully with a small smile, “Since most of our first fans will most likely be Kissmes.”

“Which song then?” Hwayoung said as she inspected her nails.

“Or maybe you can choreograph a new dance to a song which doesn’t have a dance yet, Hwayoung.” Soo Jin said while she stretched. “Like Light it up for example?”

“But that’ll take a whole lot longer than just a couple of days if we’re going to have Hwayoung choreograph a whole new dance.” Haneul pointed out.

“Oh, it’s fine. I’m sure the President will be fine with it.” Soo Jin said as she folded her upper body onto her legs.

“Oh, it’s more than fine. It’s a very good idea.” The 5 girls heard from the doorway and saw Soohyun there smiling at them with Jaeseop next to him. Haneul nodded her head in recognition to him and gave him a small smile.

“You guys really want me to choreograph a dance then?” Hwayoung said and looked up from her nails and bit her bottom lip, “But it’s a lot harder choreographing a dance for several people as compared to one person. Let’s just stick with covering another group’s dance for now, okay?”

“Fine then. Reject my idea just like that. That’s cool.” Soo Jin rolled her eyes.

“Just cover our Neverland or Shut up dance then.” Jaeseop said and just smiled his Jaeseop smile which Haneul found looked alike to a cat’s. “You girls already know both dances anyway, don’t you?”

“Yeah, we do.” Soo Jin sighed and pushed herself up from her position on the floor, doing the splits, “Fine then. You boys have time to film for us then?”

“Sure!” Soohyun said and pulled out his phone and then realised something. “Aren’t you girls supposed to hide your faces or something?”

Haneul simply put the sunglasses that she had put on in her picture with Dongho on and stood up and took up where Kevin’s position would be. Hwayoung pulled her hoodie up over her face and went and took where Kiseop’s position would be. Soo Jin and Hye Su did the same as Hwayoung and went and took Jaeseop and Soohyun’s positions respectively. Eun Ae then dug through her bag for a big pair of pink tinted sunglasses and shoved them on her face and scrambled into Dongho’s position.

Soohyun stood as far away from them as possible so the quality wouldn’t be as clear. Jaeseop stood next to the iPod dock system and plugged his iPhone in and chose Neverland. The first beats of the music then started to blast through the room and Haneul began the dance by doing Kevin’s part.

After 7 tries at filming their dance for the song, Hwayoung and Soo Jin were both finally satisfied and all 5 girls were sweating, even Haneul.

“So how is it?” Haneul asked as she flopped onto the ground next to where she placed her phone and taking a giant swig from her water bottle.

“It seems okay.” Soo Jin commented and shrugged. “What’s the time now?”

“37 past 5 pm.” Haneul replied automatically without even looking at her phone.

“Hang on.” Eun Ae frowned at Haneul. “How did you know the time so quickly without looking at your phone?” Haneul froze at her first impulse again and sighed as she knew Hwayoung was definitely glaring at her.

“Am I right? I just made a random guess.” Haneul said and shrugged.

“Wow! You’re so good at guessing!” Eun Ae said happily and skipped off out of the room, dragging Soohyun and Jaeseop along with her. Haneul noticed Jaeseop looked a little too happy to be dragged out of the room by Eun Ae.

Not five minutes after Eun Ae had left with the two boys, she came sprinting back into the room shouting excitedly.

She squealed excitedly “President says our dorms are finally done! We can move in tomorrow if we want!”

Haneul looked at Hwayoung who looked like she was completely joyous for an entirely different reason to Eun Ae. And Haneul knew the reason why.

She was finally going to have to tell Hwayoung the details on the investigation. Oh, isn't Hwayoung just so joyful? Haneul thought to herself.
