My Brother, My Lover
It's been 3 days since the operation and all of us have been waiting for ______ to wake up. Omma, appa and I would take turns on looking after her, hoping she'd wake up during our turn so we can be the first person she sees when she wakes up.
Unfortunately, I'm not looking after ______ right now. I'm watching the group's comeback stage since hyung invited me.
*rrring rrrring*
"Yoboseyo?"
"Henry, it's me."
"Omma?"
"Why is it so loud in there? Isn't it too early for disco?"
"Omma, I'm watching the group's comeback stage. Why'd you call so suddenly?"
"_____ has awakened."
"I'll be there."
"You better, 'cause she's searching for you."
Omma hung up and I told Kyuhyun hyung that I won't be able to finish the show. They waved goodbye and promised to visit after the show.
I ran as fast as my legs could carry me to _______'s room. I caught my breath and slowly turned the door knob. There was my princess, smiling soft.
"Oppa..."
"Shh... I'm here now." I held her hand.
"I heard voices when I was asleep oppa. Its...its.." she struggled.
"Don't force yourself to speak. Just rest. I'm here now, I won't leave."
"Promise?"
"Promise." I wrapped the blanket around her. "Now go to sleep, I'll get some food."
"But you'll go away if I sleep." she whispered.
"Okay, okay. I won't. Promise." I kissed her forehead and sang her to sleep.
I opened my eyes again and the loud voices of people around the room filled my ears. Huh? How could there be so many people? It's supposed to be me, oppa, appa and omma only.
"Hey, _______ is awake!"
I looked around and there were 8 other familiar faces besides Kyu and Henry oppa, and Donghae too.
"I'm sure you know them." Henry oppa said.
"We are Super Juni-OR!"
Of course they are. They're oppa's second family here. I guess they'll be part of our family too, huh?
"Are you okay now?"
"We can dance for you!"
"I can give you a pink teddy bear!"
"How about some wine?"
"Kyuhyun!!" Everyone shouts in chorus.
"What?" Kyu oppa put on his aegyo face.
We spent some time together and they filled the room with laughter. I feel very comfortable with them and they showed me their new dance routine too. Kyu oppa gave me a copy of his solo album with his autograph on it. Eunhyuk oppa showed off his new hair color and everyone bragged about their solos.
I had a great time, but I want to go home now. I want to talk to oppa alone. I want to settle my problems with him. I want to know if the future I saw will happen...or not.
"What's wrong, princess?"
"Appa, I want to go home."
"The doctor said he'll give you the permission to go home tomorrow."
"Jinjja?"
"Ne." Appa nodded. "Until such time, stay string so that he won't change his mind!"
"Arrasso!" I smiled.
I was asked by omma to decorate _______'s room for tomorrow. Sparkles? Pink? No, I should put things that are special to her.
I bought a small, framed rainbow painting, a cotton candy plushie and a roller coaster model along with new furniture, etc. I placed the notebook I gave her (the one from the amusement park, remember?) and the couple mugs we bought in America. I arranged everything on the shelf where she put our first picture together.
I smiled in satisfaction as I viewed the whole room. It looks very spacious and cute and I left a note on her bed.
'Princess, it's a pleasure to have you back. I decorated this room myself, I hope you like it. 143'
"Son."
"Ah!" I turned around, startled, and appa looked at me sternly. "Do you really love my daughter?"
"Yes I do."
"Let's talk."
[The next day]
"Welcome home!" Appa, omma and oppa stood by the door with welcoming hands.
I hugged each of them and thanked them for staying with me and for waiting patiently till I woke up. Oppa led me to my room with a blindfold which he then took away when we arrived.
My room looks stunning. It's newly painted and my new bed invited me immediately. It looks soft and fluffy...and really big!
I walked around in awe when something caught my eye. There's a shelf with memorabilias of...everything. The rainbow we shared when I first met him, the cotton candy and the roller coaster at the amusement park, the couple mugs from America, this is basically something that represents all the sweet moments we shared together.
"Do you like it?"
"Are you kidding? I love it!"
"I'm glad you do." He wrapped his arms around me from behind.
"Oppa, I'm sorry. It was all my fault."
"Shh..." He tightened his grip. "I used to blame myself too for everything that happened but it's nobody's fault. No one wanted this to happen. Not even Krystal or Donghae."
"I still feel sorry, oppa."
"Don't be."
Omma and Appa invited us to the fanciest restaurant in town for dinner to celebrate my recovery. I wore this dress.
As usual, oppa looked handsome. He wore and elegant black suit that made him shine and omma and appa looked like a dazzling couple too.
[At the restaurant]
"So, son...about the thing we talked about..."
"I know, appa. I'm ready."
"Are you sure?"
"Ne. I want to make it happen."
"Mm. Then I'll negotiate and talk to everyone about the plan. Let's make sure ______ doesn't find out about this."
"Count on me, appa."
"Kids, about the wedding....well, we want to speed it up a bit."
"Bwoh?"
"_______-ah, we don't want anything else to happen next. No...you know.."
"Oh.." I let out a sigh.
"What's the matter, dear?"
"Nothing, omma. I completely understand. I'm sorry for everything."
"_______, we all know that none of us wanted this to happen. Besides, come one. Cheer up! This dinner is supposed to be a private celebration of your fast recovery!"
"A toast to _______!"
After a few more minutes, I got bored. It took an hour before I could finally interrupt their seemingly endless conversation.
"Oppa, I want to go home."
"Are you not having fun?" He whispered.
"I wanna go home." I pouted.
"Okay, fine."
"Omma, appa, pleas excuse us."
"Waeyo? Where are the two of you going?"
"Umm...we're just gonna get some fresh air. That's all." Oppa smiled.
"Arrasso."
Oppa and I went out of the restaurant and walked around the streets. It was cold and oppa wrapped his suit around my shoulders.
"See? It's colder in here." He joked.
"Oppa..."
"What's wrong?" He looked at me with concerned eyes.
"It's really here, isn't it?" We continued walking.
"Mm...it sure is." Oppa sneakily intertwined our fingers.
"What are you gonna wear?"
"Probably something that will match what you're gonna wear."
"I...I'm happy for omma and appa."
"You don't sound like it."
"Let's go back now." I tried to turn around but oppa held my hand to prevent me from going back and made me face him.
"This is not the end, _______. This is just the beginning."
"What else could begin oppa? What could possibly-"
Oppa interrupted me by pulling me in and sweeping me off my feet with a sweet, passionate kiss. It got deeper and longer as we stood there, being engulfed in a world of our own. The world around us didn't slow down, it just magically disappeared.
I was the first one to pull away, panting and out of breath. It was very warm (our kiss) that the freezing breeze couldn't interrupt that perfect moment.
The future omma made me see still seems impossible. It feels like there's 0% possiblity ror me and oppa. Like the memories, will these moments fade away? No, I will treasure our memories forever, even after the day I die, even if forever doesn't exist.
