Intertwined Fates

You moved on.

The tissues weren't lying around anymore, so were the bottles of liquor. They were all gone, just like your sadness. You knocked some sense into your head and woke up from that trance-like state you've been in the past weeks.

Just as you thought life was getting better when your designs got accepted by the modeling studio, it skyrocketed down when you found out that another girl was going to shoot it with Hongbin.

You had jealousy issues, even back then with Daehyun, you couldn't handle any girls getting close to Daehyun, it would upset you so much you could ignore him for days even though it wasn't his fault at all. Not to say, Hongbin, of course. You thought of getting rid of the girl but then again, it was too unprofessional and you ddin't want your collegues to think that badly of you if they haven't already.

You squinted your eyes in disdain as Hongbin was asked to wrap his arms around the girl's waist and stare into her eyes, like it was his universe. Courtesy of the director. You didn't want to believe it but you had to supervise the shoot and continue the next 5 hours, staring at your boyfriend and another girl, acting like they were in love or some close to that. You just knew you didn't like it and it was definitely getting on your nerves.

"Are you okay? You look like you just got slapped by someone."

Turning around, you saw your collegue, Jeon Jungkook. He was grinning cheekily at you with his hands on his hips, trying to figure why you're so out of yourself today.

You couldn't help but giggle a little at his comment, "I'm fine, I just didn't sleep well yesterday." You groaned a little, cranking your neck with your hand at your nape.

Jungkook just scoffed playfully at you, "I'll go grab you some coffee, the normal?"

You nodded and mumbled a thanks since he bought you coffee often, he knew how you liked your coffee— americano with 2 sugars. He knew what happened two weeks earlier since you weren't at work, he just didn't want to bring that dreaded topic up again. Squeezing your shoulders, he stood up and walked away as you looked at his disappearing sillouette. Your view shifted back to the two, still posing away as the lights flashed on and off.

Taking deep breaths, you tried to keep your cool, knowing that you had to be professional around all the other staff that were scurrying around. But your headache just wasn't helping at all. You rubbed your temples as Hongbin noticed you, casting a few worried glances  at you, biting his lip a little before the director called out his name loudly, glaring at him and asking him to concentrate on the shoot as the girl beside him tugged on his sleeves.

"Her name is Ahn Hee Youn, she likes to be addressed by Hani, I have no idea why." Jungkook sat down beside you and said as he placed you cup of coffee on the table in front of you, cocking his head towards their direction. "I don't like her." You mumbled awkwardly as you took a sip of your coffee. "Same here." Jungkook said as he chuckled, you raised your eyebrow in confusion.

"She tried to get in my pants just now at the front desk, but she ain't gonna get nothing." Jungkook added with a wink, smirking a little.

"You're disgusting, Jeon." You made a snide remark, adding a nickname that you gave him, which he hated so very badly. He scowled at you, sipping on his caramel macchiato.

"Okay! Cut!" The director yelled, checking some photos on his monitor before looking at the sweating Hongbin and Hani. He made a face at them, "I'll give you two a 15 minute break, please make yourself look presentable."

You were too busy bickering with Jungkook to realize that Hongbin was about to make his way to you before he got dragged away by the stylist with Hani.

"Do you want to go grab some lunch later on? There's this really nice Chinese restaurant down the street." Jungkook asked. You pouted, deciding if you should accept his offer because you were really craving for some Chinese food. Your eyes flickered around the set, trying to look for Hongbin when you realized that they were taking a break. "Hongbin's with Hani in the changing room." A voice broke your thought as you turned around and saw the stylist, "Ah." You replied as you mumbled a soft thanks, bowing slightly at her.

"Well, this is awkward." Jungkook pointed out, "Yeah, thank you, captain obvious." You grumbled, making Jungkook chuckle again. "Is your offer still on?" You asked, looking at Jungkook as a smile appeared, his face lighting up, he nodded.

You took your clutch off the table as you looked into the mirror, fixing your hair a little before meeting Jungkook out at the front door, not even bothering to look back as you thought of how Hongbin should be with Hani. You scoffed.

As you and Jungkook walked down the streets, you two talked about the most random things. Like how his hyungs will always force him to go buy face products for them as they claimed it to be too girly for them to buy, and how you recommended the froyo shop that opened some time ago to him.

People on the streets stared. It was rare to see such a beautiful female that looked unbelievably natural and a handsome young male walking down the streets, not being an idol or a famous person.

"People are staring~" Jungkook sing-songed, "How obvious can you be, Jeon?" You rolled your eyes and laughed as he rubbed his nape awkwardly.

Hongbin dried his hair with the extra towel he was holding onto. He heard the door open and close after that, assuming that you returned home. He rolled his eyes, obviously annoyed because you didn't wait for him and came back home so late.

His eyes flickered over to the clock dangling on the wall of the shared bedroom. 12:30AM. He scoffed. You threw your keys onto the bedside cabinet and placed your clutch onto the makeup table, yawning.

"Where were you?" Hongbin asked in a tone you didn't like, making you shiver a little at his unfriendliness. You yawned again, "I went for lunch with Jungkook," You replied, relieved that you didn't put on any makeup today because you were too lazy to get it off your face. "Lunch? Until this time? God damn it, it's 12:30AM for God's sake!" He scoffed at you.

You sighed. You knew you reeked of alcohol and that he could smell it off you.

"I went drinking." You admitted, opening the drawers and taking out a change of clothes. You knew this was going the wrong direction, the both of you were bound to start arguing any minute.

"Didn't you say you were gonna wait for me? It's your job anyway! Aren't you in charge of that ?!" He raised his voice as he looked at you with stern eyes. You wanted to let this go but seeing how he shouted at you, it wasn't helping the situation in any way at all. You shut the drawer loudly as you rolled your eyes at him. "Yes I am! But I am not in the mood to see my boyfriend get all touchy touchy with a girl that is not me! Not to mention that she's incredibly pretty and flirty!" You said sarcastically, with your infamous look plastered on.

Hongbin furrowed his eyebrows, brushing his fringe out of his face. "You should know better than anyone how to separate personal life with work life. And please don't insult Hee Youn, she didn't do anything to you." You were taken aback by how rude he was to you, he's never acted like this before. Wow, did that Hee Youn cast a spell on him or what?

"Or what? Are you going to hit me or what?" You shouted back at him.

"You're impossible." He spat angrily, throwing his towel onto the bed.

Hongbin scoffed incredulously, glaring at you across the room. "Me? You're the one that's getting all so comfy with that random girl you met today! I can tell by the way you're trying to defend her!" You said.

He groaned in frustration. "This is work! Which part of this do you not understand?! We were just being friendly, are you too brainless to see that?"

Your eyes widened a good amount, "Brainless? Wow that's a new one. You never fail to surprise me, Lee Hongbin."

"Friends don't touch each other that much even when the director clearly said 'cut'." You added.

Hongbin rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Do you have a problem with that?"

"I'm your girlfriend, Lee Hongbin! Wake up and smell the coffee!"

"Are you so sure? What about that Jungkook guy you're so close to, huh?" He provoke, knowing your weakest points, he was using it against you without hesitation. You widened your eyes, "What the hell is that supposed to mean? Jungkook i my co-worker! What do you not get?!"

Hongbin shrugged but looked at her calmly. "You don't have to be with me if you don't want to. I mean, if you're just with me because you feel bad that I like you, you can leave. You don't have to do anything you don't want to. If it's such a damn burden, why don't you go and marry that guy from work?"

"What is your problem?" You could feel your headache coming on again.

Hongbin groaned, "You! You're my problem! Just because I give in to you, it doesn't mean you can take advantage of that."

You stared at him, teary-eyed. "You think I'm taking advantage of you? Just because of who I choose to befriend doesn't mean I'm taking advantage of you, it just means that I can make my own decisions." Hongbin gave her an antagonizing smirk, "Yeah, it's always like this. You're right and I'm always ing wrong. You're so stubborn."

"Me? You're the one that's not trusting me enough!" You said as you tried to hold back your tears, the vein in your head throbbing.

Hongbin felt himself trembling, "Do you even love me? Or do you just feel indebted to me? Are you staying with me because you feel bad that I like you?"

You took a step back, shocked that he will even say such a thing. "Wh-What?"

He shook his head and looked away, "If you're just trying to make it even, it's okay. I don't need this. I don't you doing me any ing favors."

"What are you trying to say?" You asked, your voice cracking.

"Go and date whoever you want. No one's stopping you, I sure as hell won't."

You stared at him in shock. Everything was going to fast. Things were going the wrong direction. You expected biting words to be thrown back at you, not this. Never this. It was going in a direction that scared you.

"I'm getting sick of this. I'm sick of having to fight with you over this small matters all the ing time." Hongbin mumbled, his voice sounding weak in the air.

You scoffed sadly, "What? You want to break up?"

He didn't answer but his eyes answered it for him.

His stone cold eyes.

You never had him look at you like that. With those emotionless eyes.

He didn't answer, he just looked at you sadly before walking away. You stood there, completely shaken before you ran out of the house, crying.

You hated it when the both of you fought. It was always the both of you throwing biting words at each other until one got tired and just walked away. It mostly started when you start giving Hongbin a cold shoulder after he has some intimate photoshoot with a hot girl, afterwhich he'll ignore you for a while. Then he'd yell and complain about how close you and Jungkook were.

Honestly, it hurt.

You never noticed anyone but him.

You only had eyes for him.

Why couldn't he see that?

Even with someone as nice and handsome as Jungkook admiring you, you still only had eyes for Hongbin.

You quickly wiped your tears away with the back of your hand, trying to hide the fact that you've been crying. You walked under the dim street lights on the pathway, thinking of someone who could take you in for the night because you thought you didn't want to return home today with Hongbin still upset at you.

Dragging your tired feet, you couldn't help but sigh. Was it really over? But you quickly in a breath because you didn't want to cry in public, it would just look pathetic and dumb. You shook off the negative thoughts, Hongbin wouldn't leave you, right?

Unknown to you, your feet brought you to an apartment block in Gangnam. You were cold and tired, so you ignored the calls of the security guard by the door and just went ahead and pressed the elevator button. You leaned against the wall of the elevator and shut your eyes, you were so so tired. But you opened them when the elevator made a 'ting' sound, indicating that you reached the 17th level.

"Hyomin?" You were so relieved to see him standing by the door of his apartment, even with that tousled hair, v-neck shirt and sweatpants.

"Hi Jeon, please let me in." You said, about to pass out as you rested one of your arm on your waist, breathing heavily. "Of course." He smiled and pulled you in, shutting the door behind him. "What are you doing here at this hour?" He asked as you dropped yourself onto his couch, leaning your head back against the cushions.

Judging by how tired you are, Jungkook guessed that you probably fought with Hongbin again. He sighed and walked into the kitchen, making you a cup of black coffee. He placed the mug onto the coffee table in front of you as he looked at you rub your eyes.

"Can I—"

"Yeah, go take a shower, I'll get you some clothes to change into." Jungkook smiled warmly at you before patting your thigh, disappearing down the hallway before you could even whisper a 'Thanks, Jeon' back at him.

You frequently visited his apartment because you had to stay up late with him to complete designs and discuss about how the photo shoots would go on. The both of you have been best friends for quite a while now and you oddly didn't feel awkward whenever you stayed over at his.

Being familiar with his apartment, you walked down the hallway and made a right turn into the bathroom before stripping yourself off your alcohol smelling clothes and taking a quick shower. You grabbed a towel off the rack and dried yourself, wrapping yourself with it before you blow dried your hair.

"Open up, I have your clothes." You heard Jungkook knock and call out. You unlocked the bathroom door and peeked out, seeing Jungkook, you thanked him as he handed you some clothes he had.

You scrunched up your nose as you realized he lent you his white dress shirt and a pair of boxer shorts he grown out of, cough. They were what you always got from Hongbin when you didn't want to wear your own clothes. Everything now just reminded you of Hongbin and it wasn't good.

"Sorry you have to wear that," Jungkook said awkwardly with a hand behind his nape, you just chuckled and told him that it was fine.

You were more than thankful that he let you stay over tonight, because you were sure if you stayed with any of Hongbin's friends, they would ask Hongbin to bring you back which you didn't want for now.

Jungkook led you out to the balcony and the both of you just sat in silence on the swings as the breeze blew past with the both of you admiring the night sky.

"What happened?" He asked finally, breaking the silence as he looked at you.

You shut your eyes and in a breath before telling him about what happened after Jungkook sent you back home, right from how Hongbin reacted when you opened the room door to how he left you like that, letting you walk away. Your fists were clenched tightly as your nails dug into your palms, you bit onto your lower lip to stop yourself from breaking into a pool of tears.

Jungkook sighed and squeezed your shoulders, giving you a reassuring smile.

"Send him a text or something, he's probably worried." He said, remembering that you had your phone in your back pocket when you went showering just now.

You sent him a text telling him you were at your friend's house for the night, but a call from him came.

"What are you staring at, answer it!" Jungkook nudged you as he cocked his head towards your vibrating phone on the swing. You reached out and answered it.

"Who the is this? Get off my baby's phone, we're making out, don't be a douche and ruin it." A girl's voice was heard on the other line.

Your eyes widened as tears started b when everything started making sense in your mind, you dropped your phone onto the ground with trembling hands.

Jungkook froze. He could hear the conversation clearly because it was just too quiet outside.

"Isn't that Hani's voice?"

You were shattered even more when you remembered that Hani girl from the photo shoot earlier on that got you and Hongbin into this huge mess. So she's not done with messing your life up again?

A lone teardrop fell from the corner of your eye as you and Jungkook looked at each other.

It broke him terribly, knowing that the person you love is causing you that pain you're feeling right now. He could've been that person and he could've made you happy, but it isn't him. It broke him knowing you were so hurt and he couldn't do anything about it.

He tightened his jaw and pulled you in tight in an embrace. He had one hand around your waist and the other at the back of your head, hugging you tightly and whispering reassuring words into your ear as you wrapped your arms around him.

"It's okay, it's okay. It's going to be okay. You still have me, it's okay."
