The Boy and The GirlLike every other Friday night, the streets were filled with people who are excited for the upcoming weekend. Although the sky was now dark, the countless sparkling stars definitely made up for it.
“Are you cold?”
I shook my head as I looked at our hands that are still linked together. I didn’t notice this last time but his hand is really big compared to mine. It’s also warm and… comforting?
We continued walking to my house silently until he suddenly he placed one of his ear buds in my ear. It scared me a little at first but when I heard the gentle yet strong voice singing…
I immediately looked at him.
“It’s you!”
He smiled shyly. “It’s me.”
I was surprised but the more I listened, the more I found myself to be attracted to his voice.
I peeked at him as he was facing the front. “I think I just discovered a new side of him…” I thought.
When we got close to my house, I stopped.
“We’re… cl… close.”
He nodded, “should I leave you here then?”
He then released my hand slowly. Having the cold air running through my fingers again made me feel a bit disappointed, why?
I took his headphone out of my ear and handed it back to him but on the inside, I really wanted to continue listening to his beautiful voice.
“Here.” He grabbed my hands and placed his iPod on them.
I looked at him, shocked. “No… I can’t… ha… have it!”
He chuckled. “I’m lending it to you. You can give it back to me whenever you want.”
My face turned bright red but I was happy. “I think he read my mind again” I thought.
Suddenly a unexpected voice came from afar, “Ara?”
D.O and I both looked in that direction. I squinted until I finally recognized who it was, “Omma?”
I quickly looked at D.O and back at Omma. A random guilty feeling came to me.
“O! What are you doing standing out here?” Omma said as she approached me.
She was holding bags and bags of grocery so I assumed she just came back from the store.
I immediately helped grabbed the bags out of her hands.
“Gomawo honey.” She sweetly said. I nodded nervously as D.O was still standing beside me.
It didn’t take long before Omma noticed D.O. She looked right back at me and gave me a suspicious smile, “Who’s this?”
As I was nervously trying to think of how to introduce D.O, he was already a step ahead of me.
“Anyeonghaseyo Mrs. Song, I’m D.O.” He said as he bowed politely to Omma.
Omma gave me an ‘OMG’ look but in a good way which made me blush a little. “O! Anyeonghaseyo D.O-ssi... Are you Ara’s friend from school?” Omma curiously asked.
“Ne.” He calmly said as he looked at me.
Omma really couldn’t hold in her dorky smiling. “I haven’t heard of Ara having other friends beside from Chunghei. This is, well, a nice surprise.”
Omma winked at me. I quickly glanced at D.O who was now smiling because he noticed what Omma just did. I felt so embarrassed.
“Omma! Appa’s probably waiting for you to cook dinner. We should quickly head home! Now!”
I then hooked onto Omma’s arms and started speeding walking in the direction of the house.
Omma looked back at D.O and yelled, “D.O-ssi! Next time, come over for dinner okay?”
