“And this week’s SBS Inkigayo Award goes to…SHINEE!!!”

The entire place vibrated as the deafening cries of joy from Shawols came. Once again, Shinee has conquered the stage with their Hybrid music, stunning dance, shining looks and addictive song Sherlock.

Other girl and boy groups shook hands with the five young men as they went towards the center of the stage where the emcees: IU, a famous solo artist and Jokwon, the funny leader of 2am is waiting with their little glass trophy.

The ever energetic Almighty Key takes their prize as soon as he can reach it while Onew being the leader took a microphone and thank the audience, their supporters and their beloved family. The leader then thought of something interesting to add, “I would also like to say thank you for a special person out there who helps me to work hard until now.” The way people’s eyes widen reassures Onew that the audience is thinking that his gratitude was for Hyu Me.

The last part was actually for the person Onew has been waiting for eversince he was a kid. The other members knew about this and so they didn’t think it was odd for their hyung to have a special person.

“Oh, it seems like the SHINEE’s leader is interested in someone.” Jo Kwon said catching that part. “How about our little Maknae here,”

Taemin, who was dreamily imagining of a tasty dessert, snaps back to attention as soon as he hears the word ‘maknae’. “eh?”

“Lee Taemin, you’ve been dating haven’t you?” Jo kwon-ssi daringly asked.

He’s asking so he can tease my brothers, Taemin thought. He knew he must act as innocent and unknowing as he can so he smiles in a denying way and shook his head.

“Chincha? A handsome oppa like you should be dating!” IU slyly commented. She holds her microphone with two hands and asks. “How would you feel if one of your hyungs started dating?”

Taemin expresses his big googly eyes and looks at the camera forming a slight aegyo in his face, “That would be definitely the end of the world, don’t you think?”

The other members hit him softly, showing their playful side to the Shawols. It’s fan service as they say; they act funny to please people. When the small punching ended, the youngest studies his hyungs’s face. It was quite obvious that each of them is trying hard not to react at what IU has asked.

Each of my hyungs thinks their fooling the other members along with the whole crowd, Taemin bitterly thought. If they only know the truth… the truth that the whole country is the one who’s fooling them.

Taemin doesn’t like the way the other members smile knowingly when in fact they are the ones who doesn’t know the whole concept of the show. As maknae nods and agrees to the compliments of the hosts, he couldn’t help but to be bothered knowing that he, who’s not included on the show, keeps secrets more thann anyone else.

-His manager hyung doesn’t know that he’s been sneaking late at night

-His brothers doesn’t know the whole concept of the show but he does

-The staff and management of ‘My Sweet Ordinary Girlfriend’ doesn’t know that he secretly visits Hyu Me

-and Hyu Me doesn’t know that her father despises her.

He’s hiding secrets to everyone! Little Taemin can barely carry them all. He feels guilty and scared for he can sense that his Jonghyun and Minho hyung have finally fallen to his noona. How long will this go on?

Just then, Onew passes the microphone one by one to the members so that they may speak.

 Should I just end this whole crazy show by blurting everything right now? Taemin thought when he finally took hold of the microphone. If he doesn’t want his brothers’ relationship to get deeply ruined then this is the right thing to do.

The audiences frowned when Taemin didn’t speak for more than five seconds.

“Yes Taeminnie?”

I can’t do it…

“Ah neh, Just want to say kansahamnida to all the SHAWOLS! Thank you for supporting us!” He wasn’t able to do it because just when he’s mouth was ready, Taemin thought of Hyu Me. Bad things will happen to her ones the truth will come out. It was a big mistake when I decided to make friends with her, Taemin thought. He’s starting to care for Hyu Me and because of this he’s now torn whether he should protect his hyungs or her. If only he can protect them both…

As the five of them goes to the back stage he tries to shrug the other reason why he didn’t tell the truth. But then again, he failed. Actually, he is scared knowing that if the truth comes out…

 It would be impossible for him to see Hyu Me again.

I’m a selfish brat…

“Hyung gwenchana?” Minho said as soon as he caught up with the Shinee’s leader who was heading to meet the fans as fast as he can. “You look really tired.”

Onew stops and faced his dongsaeng, “Just a headache, I’m fine.”

He’s definitely not fine; makeups and fancy clothes may cover almost anything to other people but not to a friend who has been with him for so many years. Minho can’t help but to feel sorry knowing he is one of the reasons why Onew is so stressed this following days “Hyung… thank you for settling the controversies that I was in. The interviews, the e-mails... all of it must’ve tired you out.”

Onew smiles and pats Minho’s shoulder, “as what key says, I’m a yongnam (old man) and I’m Shinee’s leader. It’s my duty to protect you guys. And  Minho... ” he pauses for awhile as he hears the fans tapping the back door, “You’re not just a face of SHINEE, always remember that SM wouldn’t make a person an idol just because that person is good-looking.”

Although Hyu Me has told him this numerous times, Minho can’t help himself to be moved. After all, it’s his Onew hyung who’s saying this now; someone he really looks up to. “Th-thank you hyung, you don’t know how much that means to me.”

“Yah! Why are the two of you so melodramatic here?” Jonghyun surrounds his arms around Minho and Onew’s neck. “We just won people!”

“Aish, ”Key, the all time diva acted like he’s in a bad mood when in fact he was dying to shout from winning again. “Shut up you dinosaur-looking fellow.”

Little Taemin who was so serious just awhile ago couldn’t help but burst out laughing upon hearing the dinosaur word. When Jonghyun glared at him he smiles innocently and added, “Saranghae hyung”

The four chuckled at once. Minho can’t help but think how happy he’s life is right now with these loyal brothers at his side and Hyu Me as his girlfriend.

If only he knows such combination is a big mistake.

“Shall we shout our Shinee chant right now for our job well done?” Minho suggested. Everyone agreed and so the five close friends huddled together. All of them are hoping that this friendship will last until infinity.

“WE ARE THE SHINEE! ULTRA SHINEE TRANSFORMATION!”

I’m tired of this...

Onew entered the quiet dressing room. He leans his head at the back of the door and closed his eyes. The popularity, responsibilities, performances... everything was getting on him again. It was at this time that Onew gets sick and tired of everything that’s happening to him. Being the leader of one of the most sought-after boy group wasn’t really what he wanted. He didn’t want to be a star or be famous.

To get that person was all I wanted

Onew has used his fame on finding that person. He went to every bit of Korea, circled asia and even touched the western countries and yet he still he can’t reach that person. Where are you?

Onew reached the table and saw his face on the mirror. He looks okay, he looks normal but then again looks can be deceiving. It’s not enough, he realized. I have to work harder. As the leader sits on the steel chair, he told himself to rest. Rest for now just like Lee Jinki does... before I enter my idol life again...

“Jonghyun oppa!”

“Please be careful, I wouldn’t know what to do if you hurt yourself” Jonghyun takes the Sherlock album and signed it with the best penmanship he has.

“Oppa, I know I shouldn’t be saying this but you really look good with Hyu Me unnie.” The fan shyly expressed before she walks out. Jonghyun felt happier after hearing that. He picked up his phone; instead of seeing his wallpaper of her virtual girlfriend, one SMS was depicted on the screen.

From: Shin Se Kyung

He sighed and pocketed his handphone; he didn’t even bother to read the message. He knew what the message would be. “Why is she doing this to me?” He muttered. He couldn’t help but feel sorry for himself. He knows Se Kyung just wants him back because it might strengthen her popularity. What am I, a toy?

It’s haunting him up until now. What if there are more people around him who are like Shin Se Kyung. What if the people whom he cares for might be just using him?

Ani, not everyone is like that. He reassured himself. Hyu Me’s not using me...

Yes, Hyu Me is not using him but her secret might be more devastating than what Se Kyung did to him.

“Dino-hyung, can you sign these CD’s please.” Key was suddenly beside Jonghyyun. He was bringing Lucifer and Ring Ding Dong albums.

Jonghyun frowned, “What for?”

“For a friend,” Key answered impatiently. “She doesn’t know much about Shinee so I’m hoping sje’d learn to like us with these albums.”

Jonghyuns signs them as he mutters that he doesn’t look good with his blond hair in ring ding dong. “Thanks hyung.” Key went back to his chair and took care of his fans that were craving for his signature. His mind was racing, he hopes Hyu Me would like the albums. He wants all of his brothers to sign them before he gives them to her. He searched for his dongsaeng Taemin but couldn’t find him. His Onew hyung is resting in the dressing room and so he was left with Minho.

Just as he was about to let him sign, another fan was asking for his hyung’s autograph. Key stopped at once. He knew that fan. It was that girl who was holding the poster saying... I love Hyu Me-Minho better. Key froze there staring intently at her. His anxiety was growing back at once. He couldn’t hear the other fans calling his name in front of him nor his manager who was telling him to focus.

“Hey, anything wrong Key?” Minho said tapping him on the elbow. Key’s eyes found his brother, his fist closed around the albums that he was holding. The idea of letting Minho sign something that would be given to Hyu Me later on was too much for him.

“Key oppa, gwenchana?” Key looked up and found the fan talking to him. He couldn’t help but wonder why this girl can’t be satisfied with his being with Hyu Me. Am I not enough for her?

“I’m fine.” He muttered and stood up, “I’m just thirsty.” He smiled to the girls who were anxiously watching him before he left.

“What’s happening to you?” His manager hissed when he was able to catch up with Kibom.

“Did you choose the right person hyung?” Key said without looking back. “Am I the best person for My Sweet Ordinary Girlfriend?”

“What are you talking about?” His manager said in confusion, “are you worried that your fans would prefer someone else?”

Ani, I really don’t care of what they think, Key said, finally realizing why he feels bad. He clenched his teeth as he tries to shrug the thought away but it was useless, the question still lingers on his head...

If Hyu Me was to choose, would he prefer Minho too?

Kim Hyu Me’s point of view

“That’s not enough”

“I-I know, I promise to pay the rest as soon as I get my next salary.”

“Tsk. Making a fool of four idols to pay your father’s debt, good going.”

I bit my lip as I take in every word the cashier has uttered. She has probably said all insult of me being poor and so she hits me by using SHinee this time. I grew numb of her, actually; I have faced the hospital’s cashier over and over again for almost two years. Workers should be good to the patients or costumers but people here don’t treat me with respect here anymore. They say I owe them for staying so long without even paying properly to them.

I bowed to her and lamely dragged myself towards room 202. It was 3 in the afternoon and there were so many people around waiting for their doctors. There are varieties of reaction as I pass by them. Amazement. Disgust. Curiosity... I stared at the ground as they bore their eyes at me.

I guess the cashier’s voice was too loud

I passed by a television and saw the news saying that Shinee has once again conquered Inkigayo. (Although I have no idea what that means) I saw the five boys waving and smiling at the cameras. Onew thanked so many people and lastly he said, “I would also like to say thank you for a special person out there who helps me to work hard until now.”

At once people around took glances at me. I badly wanted to tell them that he wasn’t talking about me. It was for the person who he’s dedicating his success for. It’s not good if I’ll even steal that gratitude to the person.

I fumbled my keys as I reached room 202.

“Annyeong,” I stopped when I heard a frail voice. I looked down at my right and saw a girl probably same age as mine sitting on a wheelchair. I stuttered it was the first time a person in the hospital has talked to me; normally people would just look at me in a peculiar way. The girl creased her eyebrows in a worried expression. “Am I disturbing you?”

“A-ani, sorry I was just a bit shocked when you talked to me.” I told her honestly.

She looks like she was in deep pain when she smiled at me. “I know, you should see yourself in television.” I was surprised when she just said it so casually; like it wasn’t a big deal at all. I know I’d like her for that and it wasn’t good. “I’m Jihun by the way, I’m in room 203. Can we be friends?”

I hesitated. I honestly don’t want to make friends with her. Call it rude but I have my personal reasons. Two years of staying here in the hospital has taught me that. “You remind me of my bestfriend” I suddenly blurted out of nowhere. It was the first thought that occurred to me when I saw her. If Jihun wasn’t sick, she’d be so energetic like Yui.

“And that’s not good?” She weakly asked.

“I’m a bad friend.” I said as a lump was forming in my throat. I suddenly realized how much I miss Yui and Chun Yo as well. The show has pulled me away from them.  “She didn’t like the fact that I’m virtually dating Key.”

“I won’t get mad at you, my ultimate bias is Taemin.” She giggled and then coughed. “Having a new friend won’t hurt.”

“I’m Kim Hyu Me” I told her and then we became friends.

I hope I won’t regret this...

“Kim Hyu Me-ssi?” I turned around and found a tall man wearing a deliverer’s uniform. He’s baseball cap was covering the features of his face. I definitely know who it was. Although I know it’s wrong, warmth still spreads inside me at once and that I feel a lot comfortable now that he’s here.   “Pizza delivery” he said in his unusual low voice.

A smile forms his lips as soon as I let out an excited gasp. I took the box and thought of another idea. “Hey pizza boy, can you do me a favour? Please bring my friend Jihun to her room it’s in 203. And please hand this to her.” I said grabbing a slice of pizza.

“Hyu Me, you’re just a foot away from me.” Jihun said a bit confused.

I bent down and whispered to her. “Imagine Taemin doing this to you.” A blush appears in her pale cheeks. I hope I can tell her it’s really Taemin but it would be too risky. “I heard Taemin’s your favourite in Shinee.” I said in a loud voice this time.

Big baby finally understood. He did what I told him while I enter room 202 and took care of my father. “Need help noona?”

I looked at the door and found Taemin going nearer to me. He took of the uniform showing fancy clothes underneath. I can see why Jihun likes him. I opened my mouth; ready to say my usual speech of pushing him away but then he was faster. “Your words are useless noona, I’ll still visit you”

I smiled smugly at him. The truth is, I really want him around but I didn’t want to get used of the feeling that someone is with me. Because I know that one day they’d all leave me. I know he wouldn’t leave so instead, I picked up the pizza and started eating. “Hmmm maa!” I expressed. I haven’t eaten any western food for so long!

“I didn’t know pizza can make you this happy. You really look cute noona.” I found Taemin staring at me; studying me with his elusive dark brown eyes. I gulped down and hid my face. It was those times that I’d doubt if he’s still the big baby I knew. “Ah mhiane, I must’ve sounded so childish again.” He said and scratched his head.

Childish? I repeated to myself. He’s the one who wiped away my tears when I saw my father’s thumb moved, he stopped me from hurting myself when I couldn’t remember anything, and he scolded me of my impatience last time.

Shinee’s maknae must be perceived as immature and young at heart but the way I see it, he’s a man. A friend I can rely on.

I shook my head. I think I’m thinking too much. “You’re hair is a bit short now.” I said, hoping to lift up the atmosphere.

He touched his brown hair, “ah neh. I really didn’t like the long hair, I look like a girl.” He said as he made a cute duck face. I smirked and took a bite of my pizza. “Yeah, you look even prettier than me.” I said and laughed at his reaction.

“That’s because you don’t take care of yourself noona!” He suddenly took my bag pack and opened it. “Yah! Lee Taemin, stop touching my belongings!” I expressed. He found a pink clean comb… a very clean comb. He eyed me scornfully. “When was the last time you brushed your hair?”

I ate more pizza.

“Kim Hyu Me?” I felt a new sensation when he didn’t call me noona. He sounded like an oppa. “Stop eating, come here.”

“Hmph! Fmy fpizza!” I said with my mouth full of pepperoni. Big baby half-dragged and half-carried me to a sofa.

“Sit still and I promise I’m bringing burgers next time.” He said as he sat beside me. Guess what? I behaved when I heard that.

We were like two kids playing around inside a hospital. Good thing is I’ll get burgers next time. Bad thing is… I’m starting to enjoy Taemin’s company.

I felt his fingers touch my hair. He took of the tie and let my red hair flow. He started combing it. I shuddered; I wasn’t used of someone doing this to me. “T-taemin-ah, I’ll do it myself.”

“No noona.” He said and continued. “Why not take your phone and read the comments on ‘My Sweet Ordinary Girlfriend’ for me. I want an update.”

And so I followed him. The site says that MBnet is done airing the Mysterious couple and the show shall start with the rival couple. The feedbacks of Jonghyun and me were good. Some has guessed that our argument was about Shin Se Kyung but they don’t really have any proof.

I wish they’d end up together!

I frowned at the comment not knowing how to react. I visited the ‘Rival couple’ section and found numerous pictures of us. “They’re promoting you noona, since your episodes will be airing next.” Taemin explained behind me. I scrolled my phone down and found a picture of Minho so close to me under the lamppost. Taemin stopped brushing my hair, obviously seeing it too.

“Nothing happened,” I said looking back at him.

He cleared his throat and looked away. “You don’t have to explain.”

I went back to my phone, and stopped myself from sighing. Why did I try to explain in the first place? As he continues to brush my hair, I read some comments in the site.

I turned off my handphone before Taemin can see it. “I’m almost done” He said, oblivious of what has happened. His hand reached for my chin and he slowly lead my head to face him. “Just the final touches,” he fixes the few strands hanging loosely near my face.

As I stare at him I realized I wasn’t only being a traitor to the other SHINEE members but also to the million fans that loves this guy who is in front of me... people like Jihun, my new friend.

I was right, being friends or just being with Lee Taemin is a big no for me.

“Done.” He smiled but it wasn’t a happy one. It didn’t reach his eyes. “If you fix your hair like this, hyung would really be please.”

“Which hyung?” I asked him.

“I think its Key umma.” Taemin said as he stood up and returned the comb. “What do you guys do during your date periods noona?”I wasn’t able to reply. I was too distracted of the thought of meeting Key again.

Kim Ki Bum, the sincerest and the most honest person out of the four. I hope MBnet would stop making me as a toy... I hope MBnet won’t test how loyal I can be to him just like what they did with Minho.

Because for all it’s worth. I can never be loyal to anyone of them... as long as I’m dating all four of them...
