Monday Morning, Week 4

Changsub's dorm. 

A couple of weeks had passed since the noraebang party and school was now in full swing. Readings and assignments left and right and last minute essays before midnight.

Despite the increasing workload Changsub was finding it easier to wake up in the mornings. Well, certain mornings anyways. Today he had plans to meet Chorong for breakfast before class.

He only had one class with Chorong but they'd been seeing each other pretty often. Some days they got coffee, other days they got snacks at the convenience store. Sometimes they just went straight to class if there wasn't enough time. Changsub wasn't quite sure how they ended up hanging out so much, it just kind of happened like that. 

He looked around his room. On any normal day he would've picked up whatever random shirt was lying around his bed but today he decided he'd better wear a nicer cleaner one. He went to his closet and pulled on a crisp striped shirt then went to check himself in the bathroom mirror. Yep, much better. 

Changsub grabbed his bag and skateboard and headed out to the cafeteria.

Chorong was waiting for him outside. She waved to him.

"Hi Chorong!" Changsub said, getting off his skateboard.

"Hey sleepyhead! I'm surprised you actually managed to get up this early." She said.

Changsub ruffled his hair.

"Hey come on you only saw me fall asleep in class like twice."

Chorong laughed.

"Sure sure, let's go eat."

The two went inside, got their breakfast and found a place to sit.

"Did you finish the chapter?" Changsub asked, taking a bite of fried egg.

Chorong nodded.

"Took me forever. It's so hard to read for this class, the content is so dry."

"Well at least you have me to bother you in class." Changsub pulled a face.

"Weirdo."  She rolled her eyes.

Changsub laughed.

"You know you're fun to mess with."

Chorong looked up from her plate.

"You know I could totally whack you with my spoon right now." She said testily.

"Oh really?"

Chorong raised the spoon threateningly.

"Okay okay!" Changsub put up his hands in defense.

"Geez I wouldn't have guessed you were this scary." He said as Chorong lowered the spoon.

"Me? Scary? What do you mean?"

"I don't know, you look so quiet and nice around strangers but it's only been a few weeks and now you're threatening to assault me with a spoon."

"Psh I could say the same about you. Going around looking all grouchy and cold when you're actually a goofy prankster." Chorong replied.

They stared at each other for a second trying to look serious before bursting into laughter.

"Ah seriously." Changsub said when he finally caught his breath.

He was starting to like this new side of Chorong.

They chatted for a few more minutes as they ate. It sometimes surprised Changsub how comfortable it was talking to Chorong. They got along so well that anyone watching would've thought they were long time friends. He found himself wishing he'd met her sooner. 

After a little bit they were approached by a guy in a cap and t-shirt in the school colors.

"Hey how's it going? I'm Peniel from Campus Activities! Just letting you know there's gonna be a spicy ramyeon eating contest in the main courtyard tomorrow at noon!"

The guy held out two mini flyers with a friendly smile.

"We're also giving away free food if you bring your student ID!"

"Thanks." Changsub said taking one of the flyers.

"Ooh." Chorong said taking the other flyer.

"Bomi is gonna love this!" She said.

"Hope to see you guys there!" The guy named Peniel said brightly before moving on to the next table.

Changsub waited until he was gone to shove the flyer into his bag. He wasn't really into all the school spirit activities. Too many people.

He looked up to see Chorong snapping a picture of the flyer to send to Bomi.

"Is Bomi really going to enter that eating contest?" He asked.

"Are you kidding me? She wouldn't miss out on free food for anything."

"Bomi is crazy. I don't know how you live with her." Changsub said shaking his head.

"She is crazy, but I love her." Chorong smiled.

They finished up their breakfast and headed to class walking side by side. 

"I could get used to this."  Changsub thought. 

As they were walking down the path they passed a couple of sleazy looking guys. Judging from the jerseys they appeared to be on the basketball team.

One of them whistled at Chorong as they walked past. Changsub gripped his skateboard a little tighter and walked closer to Chorong.

"What?" Chorong asked sensing him tense up next to her.

"Nothing, keep walking." Changsub said.

"Jerks…have a shred of respect will you." Changsub thought as they walked away from the basketball guys.

When they were far enough away he relaxed a little.

"Thanks." Chorong said without looking at him.

"Oh…you noticed?" Changsub asked, surprised.

"I'm paying attention." Chorong replied.

After a second she continued.

"Actually I appreciate it but you didn't have to, I can handle myself."

Changsub looked confused.

"Huh?"

A small smile tugged at the corner of Chorong's mouth.

"I could've had that guy in a choke hold on the floor in 2 seconds no problem." She said.

"Oh." Changsub wasn't sure how to reply to that.

"I have a few tricks up my sleeve." Chorong said mischievously .

She turned her attention back to the pathway and kept walking leaving Changsub still looking a little perplexed. He wasn't sure whether to feel embarrassed or impressed or both.

"Damn she's really something else."

A/N  Time skip!! My pacing is all over the place I'm sorry. Ehe...a wild Peniel appeared. ugghhh how to escape the cliches...but Changsub is such a gentleman protecting Chorong in real life I miss him...help.
