Surprise Quiz.
Whimsical Chaos
The dreaded Monday made its arrival, signalling the start of another week of classes. Sehun cursed under his breath as he had slept past his alarm clock. This meant he had to face the morning rush hour and squeeze into the bus with all the other commuters. He recalled Chanyeol’s ride offer, however when he stepped out of his flat, he hesitated to knock on his door.
Loosening his necktie, Sehun checked his watch as he rushed towards the bus stop. The honking of a car however caught his attention.
“Hey Sehun hop on!”
Kyungsoo’s head popped out of the passenger’s seat of the car that came to a halt. Without being urged a second time, Sehun slipped into the backseat, remembering to put on his seatbelt. From the rearview mirror, he could see Chanyeol smiling at him from behind the wheel.
“We knocked on your door on our way out.” The driver commented as the car resumed its journey. “But you didn’t answer. We must have just missed you.”
“Ah yes sorry,” Sehun rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. “I wasn’t sure whether…”
“No need to be bashful,’ Kyungsoo chuckled, turning around to stare at Sehun. “This guy is so thick skinned that it’s almost impossible to offend him. The blissful life of being an ignorant fool I suppose.”
“Is that how you talk about your best friend to people?” Chanyeol gasped dramatically.
“Keep your eyes on the road,” Kyungsoo replied curtly. “And I’m just stating facts.”
“It’s because you talk to me this way that Jiwoo doesn’t treat me with respect,” Chanyeol whined while shaking his shoulders.
“Don’t blame your shortcomings onto me.”
“Why you—”
Chanyeol raised one hand from the steering wheel, aiming to grab Kyungsoo’s ear. One glare from the latter however was enough to cause the former to flinch. Chanyeol immediately retracted his hand, his whole body shrinking back as he let out a soft whimper, reminding Sehun very much of a sad puppy.
Sehun could not stop himself from chuckling at their cat-and-dog interactions. Relaxing into the car seat, he finally noticed a large tupperware box laying next to him.
“Did Jiwoo bake again?”
Glancing through the rearview mirror Chanyeol nodded.
“She didn’t sleep a wink and spent the whole night baking shortbread biscuits.”
“Was she bored or stressed?” Kyungsoo questioned, his brows etched together in worry.
“Who knows,” Chanyeol exhaled loudly. “All I know is that soon I won’t fit in my trousers anymore.”
Sehun poked the box with curiosity. The creamy smell of butter wafted in the air tempting him.
“Dig in if you want,” Chanyeol told the male. “One thing we never lack when Jiwoo is around are baked goods.”
Gently opening the box, Sehun took out a perfectly golden shortbread and took a bite, careful to not leave crumbs on the carseat.
“These are delicious!” Sehun exclaimed in amazement, his eyes widening at the sweetness invading his tongue. “I might need to worry about my own waist size at this rate.”
“If you stick around, you definitely will need to,” Kyungsoo snorted, exchanging a knowing look with Chanyeol. “By the way, do you live by yourself?”
“Yeah,” Sehun hummed through a mouthful of shortbread. “I’m actually considering looking for a flatmate for the spare room. I’m not tight on money but it’s always nice to have some more to save up.”
“Why didn’t you do that Soo?” Chanyeol wondered, throwing the male a questioning look.
“Your sister turned the room into her personal studio before I could even consider doing that,” Kyungsoo deadpanned, as though Chanyeol had asked the most ridiculous question on earth.
“Your fault for giving her access to the flat.”
“She’s a freak of nature who managed to guess my code from the sound that each number made on the pad,”
