The Warning

Protector

Seunghyun’s POV

“Is the chains really necessary?” Heechul asked as the chains wrapped around his ankles clanged against the floor.

“Yes, now get to work.” Seungri said sternly nudging the small man slightly.

We were sitting in the middle of the hospital lab Dr. Yong was nice enough to lend us. There were medical charts hanging on the walls while various types of machines were lined up against the walls of propped up on big tables.

Heechul’s eyebrows knitted together as he picked up the small bullet on the table with his glove covered hands.

“This is the bullet that Jiyong shot her with?” he asked as he turned the bullet carefully in his hand.

“Yes, why would we show you another bullet?” Seungri said impatiently as he observed the mad doctor.

Heechul surprised us all when he suddenly put the bullet inside his mouth. I looked at Seungri whose expression changed into a surprised one.

“What are you doing?” Both of us said panicked at the same time standing from our seat.

Heechul held his finger up telling us to calm down. After a few more seconds he spit out the bullet back onto the tray on the table.

“The poison consists of about almost all of the dangerous chemicals known to man. I’m surprised Ms. Lee survived the shooting.” He said looking up at us. “The bullet was designed with the poison on the outside layer and there is a little hole here…” he pointed to a small opening on the head of the bullet. “That releases the poison into her body the moment it ripped through her skin.”

I gaped at Heechul for a moment letting the horrifying news sink in.

“But you know the antidote right?” Seungri asked in a sort of panicked stricken look. I kept starring at Heechul as he mindlessly turned the bullet.

“There’s one problem, I didn’t create this poison, Jiyong did.” Heechul said and I stared in shock. “I can try to find an antidote but I don’t think I’ll be fast enough.”

“What’s gonna happen?” I asked after a few moments of silence.

“Well my prediction is that this will attack her internal organs especially her lungs and heart.” Heechul said and Seungri and my expressions turned dark.

“How much time do we have?” Seungri asked weakly as I saw his face turn pale.

“A month, 2 tops.” Heechul said. “In a week the poison will finally take full effect and attack her weakest spot, mostly around the open wound in her stomach. Then by the end of the month the affect will finally reach her lungs and she’ll suffer from the same affects patients with lung cancer have. Slowly but surely the poison will attack her heart, but by then it’ll be too late to do anything.”

I didn’t even care about the amount of fear showing on my face. Seungri beside me was literally shaking and I wanted to comfort him but I too was just as scared as he was. Seungri flopped down on the chair hanging his head in between his knees and I heard him taking deep breaths in attempt to calm himself down.

“Get to work Heechul, do anything you can.” I say distractedly before I turned to Seungri.

I sat down on the chair beside him and put my hand on his chair. He looked up at me and I immediately noticed his sickly pale skin and the amount of sweat gathering on his forehead.

“Let’s get some air.” I say dragging him out passed the guarded doors.

We walked silently through the dimly lit hospital corridors until we finally reached the deserted waiting room outside of Vic’s room. I carefully led my slightly shaking dongsaeng to a chair and I sat next to him.

“Hyung, we can’t- we can’t let Vic die.” He said his voice shaking.

“I’m not gonna let that happen.” I say bravely.

I knew that this was going to be hard but I knew I needed to try. I’m her protector; it’s my job to keep her safe, keep her healthy, to keep her alive. I stood up and peeked into Vic’s room through the window of the door. She was lying on the bed with her eyes closed, whether she was sleeping or awake I couldn’t tell.

“Ri, go get Taeyang and tell him to get us a meeting with Jiyong… we have thing’s to discuss.” I said and Seungri nodded and stood up and left.

I sighed and turned back to the door and opened it slowly. The air inside the room was cold and uninviting, the room smelled like a sick combination of medicine and flowers, the only sound of the room were the slow beeps of the heart monitor imitating the sound of Victoria’s heart.

As soon as I closed the door behind me Victoria’s eyes started slowly opening. When she saw me she gave me a weak smile and I returned it before stepping forward. I pulled up a chair and placed it on her bedside.

“How you feeling?” I asked gently taking her small fragile hand in mine.

“O-Ok.” She said simply her voice hoarse. “I feel weaker though. Did that Heechul guy come?”

I couldn’t help but feel a pain in my chest after hearing her hopeful tone. “Yeah he come, he’ll cure you I promise.” I said and I saw her face light up slightly.

“Promise?” She asked lifting her pinky slightly. I looked at her weak form on the bed and then at the machines around her. She must be in so much pain right now, she has to get better, she will get better.

“I promise.” I said completing the pinky promise.

I smiled and put her hand down. I smiled and took that hand in mine and the top of her palm with my thumb. My other went up to her face and cupped her cheeks. Her skin was cold but I could still sense some warmth in them. She smiled at my gesture but then surely but slowly her eyes started to close.

“You’re gonna be alright, I promise.” I said as I stood up taking my hand from her grip and lifting it slowly off her cheek.

I pulled the light pink blankets up so that it covered most of her body to her shoulder. I leaned down and swiped the loose strands of hair on her face and kissed her forehead before walking away, I needed to fix this and fast.

I arrived at Seoul Maximum Security Prison in about an hour later. The place wasn’t just like any normal prison, it was scarier.

There were 2 gates leading up to the main yard where the gigantic prison stood. The 2 gates were tall, imagine the Berlin wall but 2 times bigger. On top of those 2 were wires and spikes and on the inner wall the spikes were even charged with electricity.

It was a scary place and I hated going there but I knew I needed to this time.

“Seunghyun, Seungri, nice to see you.” One of the guards, Kangin said as he greeted us by the entrance.

I smiled and shook his hand and so did Seungri before the 3 of us walked into the prison. The walls were all grey and the small lights on the ceiling just made things look scarier. After walking down a long hallway we finally made it to a clearing, the offices.

“He’s being kept up down in the basement in the high security cell.” Kangin said leading us to a small elevator in the corner of the room.

“You really take security seriously, don’t you?” Seungri asked eyeing the 10 cameras in the small elevator.

“We only have the best to keep the worst in place.” Kangin said and I chuckled at how cheesy he sounds.

When the elevators opened we were greeted by a small room with only a steel door in front of us. Kangin took out his key and unlocked the door but we were surprised to see that the door only led to a small hallway.

“Keep close.” Kangin said as he walked into the small space. Seungri and I exchanged nervous glances before following Kangin down the dimly lit hallway.

After a few twists and turns all 3 of us finally reached an opening. The room was big but there was something suffocating about it. In front of us was a giant window and next to it was a steel door. Kangin went over to the wall beside the window and tapped the tablet on the wall. Immediately the light in the room so that the table in front of us was now visible and the view beyond the glass window was too.

The table in front of us held some hearing equipment and even some small monitors. I took a step forward and looked through the window. Inside was a tiny cell with a small twin bed and a chair in the corner. The walls weren’t made out of bricks but were painted gray. Then I saw him, the blonde haired boy was sitting in the corner on the chair reading what seems to be a book on engineering.

“Can I go in?” I asked Kangin who was setting up the monitor and hearing stuff on the table.

“Do you need to?” Kangin asked looking a little worried.

“It’s the reason we came here.” Seungri said crossing his hands across his chest. Kangin’s gaze went from Seungri to mine and seeing our seriousness he sighed and rummaged the table before taking a clear device, an earpiece.

“Wear this so we can talk to you.” He handed me the small device and I carefully put it in my ear.

“Wish me luck.” I said before going to the door.

The humid air hit me the moment I opened the jail door. The room smelled musky and I couldn’t help but feel a drop of sweat form on my forehead for the room is unnaturally hot. Jiyong looked up lazily until he saw me.

“Seunghyun.” He said, a smirk slowly appearing.

“Jiyong.” I said emotionlessly. “May I sit?” I asked referring to his bed.

“Go right ahead, it’s not like I couldn’t say no.” he said bitterly. “What brings you here?”

“Couldn’t I just visit my old friend that I happen to just put in jail?” I asked with a fake smile.

“No.” Jiyong said sitting up straighter in his seat. “Is this about your girlfriend, Victoria?”

My fake smiled disappeared instantly and before I could restrain myself I had gotten up and ran at him, grabbing the collar of the white shirt he was wearing.

“You planned this didn’t you? You’re planning to kill her?” I spat at him trying my hardest to suppress my growing anger as Jiyong smirked.

“I heard that you captured little Heechul. Good luck, the antidote is more complex than anything he can make.” Jiyong said with a small, mischievous smile.

I scanned his face for a second, my knuckled now aching from just how tight I was holding on to Jiyong’s shirt collar. Then my eyes landed on his eyes. I scanned them just how I scanned them before the first time I knew that Jiyong had changed. This time I was surprise to see something else than glee in them… I saw fear.

I leaned in closer so that our faces were mere inches apart. A smirk crept on my face. “You don’t want her to die, do you?”

His face stiffened hell his whole body stiffened underneath me and I knew that I had hit something there.

“You’re not gonna let her die because deep inside…” I leaned in closer. “I know you actually love her.”

“Get away from me!” he spat pushing my shoulders back so hard I actually stumbled a little before regaining my composure.

“You’re not gonna do anything and you won’t kill Victoria either.” I said with a smirk.

Jiyong moved fast, he ran at me and grabbed the collar of my shirt, pulling at it so that I was close to him. We locked eyes and the glee in his eyes disappeared to be replaced by anger.

“Don’t push me Seunghyun. You know I wanted this to be surprise but I guess I’ll let you have a little sneak peak.” A smirk formed on his lips and for a reason the room turned cold sending goose bumps on my skin. “I will take you down, I will kill you all, I will win, and this time I’ll win everything.”

I froze as I realized what he just said. I knew that what he said wasn’t empty words, he’d just warned me.

“Watch your friends Seunghyun, not all of them are weak like you, some of them realize that I have the power.” And with that he pushed me, releasing me from his hold.

I stared at him before turning around and leaving the room. Jiyong’s low chuckle filled the room and made its way to my ears before I stepped out into the observation room. I closed the door behind me and leaned on it. I looked at Kangin & Seungri, both had wide eyes and I could sense the fear all 3 of us what Jiyong had just said.

The next, I was crying.. I just love it. Btw I'm new to this.. Is there a way I can 'follow' you? Or is that basically 'subscribing'?
