From The Shadows

Shadows In His Heart

"Remember what I told you, there are two security guards on the front gates, and three doing a perimeter around the house. Which ones are you knocking out first?" He whispered as they neared the large house.

"The two by the gate first then I'm getting the one by the front door, the one walking around, and the one by the back door" Hyorin whispered back, the house coming up into their view.

"Right, the man we're after should be asleep, I hear he takes sleeping pills so we'll have time to get the money first" Jaejoong explained as they stuck near the walls of the gates and remained in the shadows.

They walked in silence as Hyorin ran through the perimeter in her mind. She desperately tried to make sure she knew where all the exits were and where the locations of all security guards were. It was a moonless night and the street was almost completely dark except for the faint light coming from the occasional street lights. Jaejoong pulled the cap on his head lower still and snuck a glance over at Hyorin. Her face was set in concentration and uncertainty and for a split second he wondered if she could really do this. He shook himself, he couldn't go in nervous it wouldn't help. Besides, he would be there the entire way.

They exchanged glances once the two guards came into view. She hesitated a moment before Jaejoong gave her a stern look, telling to go forward. She took a shaky breath before she slipped the brass knuckles on and walked. She pulled her hood up and hummed softly to herself as she approached the two men.

They glanced at her briefly, not paying attention to the small woman walking past. She stopped suddenly and attacked the guy at her right. She grabbed him by the head and punched him quickly, hearing bones crunch as she turned her attention to the man that quickly tried to pull a gun out. She kicked the gun out of his hands and he looked up angrily as he went forward to hit her. Hyorin twisted underneath him and kneed him in the gut with all her strength causing him to bend over. Just like they had practiced she brought her elbow down on the back of his neck and he fell to the ground, knocked out.

She turned quickly when she heard the click of a gun. , she had forgotten about the guy she had first attacked. She mentally scolded herself as she froze and slowly raised her arms. She looked at his obviously broken nose and cheekbone and told herself that she shouldn't have assumed something like that would keep a man down. She should have finished with the other guy faster.

"Don't move! Who the hell are you?!" The man yelled as he kept his gun aimed at her chest and moved forward.

Hyorin kept shut as she saw the darkness from the shadows move behind him. Her eyes widened when she realized it wasn't the shadows moving, but Jaejoong blended in so well with his black outfit that it seemed as if he had come out of nowhere. In less than a second, Jaejoong's arm shot out and struck the man at the back of the neck, she heard a loud crack echo and she watched as the man crumpled to the ground, the gun falling besides him.

"I'll get the gates, you secure them and move them closer" He ordered as he took out a small piece of machinery and connected it to the gate lock.

"Is he dead?" Hyorin whispered, not moving a muscle as the machine made small beeping noises as it tried to crack the electronic lock on the gates.

"If I attack someone they're never anything less than dead. If you wanted to keep them alive then you should have paid attention to what you were doing" Jaejoong said as he continued to work on the lock.

Hyorin blinked in surprise and began to move. She knew he  killed people so why was it so surprising? She took out plastic ties she had and went to the guy she had knocked out first. She subtly checked his pulse, relieved to find it still there as she tied him up and pulled him over to the gates. She ran to the other guy and tied him up. While she dragged him over she nevertheless checked his pulse, swallowing when it wasn't there. Jaejoong had broken his neck.

"I told you he would be dead" Jaejoong said, surprising Hyorin. She didn't realize that he was done.

She didn't answer as they swung one side of the gate open just enough to get the bodies out of sight and for them to slip in. They closed the gates behind them and Jaejoong pushed the two men into a bush. Adjusting his leather gloves he signaled her to go forward and to pay attention this time. Hyorin nodded as she looked ahead and kept her ears open. This part she was sure she could do. The night was pitch black, but she could make out shapes better than the average person. Almost like night vision, but nowhere near as good. She used her heightened listening and moved through the large  bushes towards the front door.

The next three men were easier to handle since they were done individually. She took them out one by one, always tying them up afterwards and throwing them to the side. She stood to the side as Jaejoong worked on the house lock. She was really bad at the lock picking part so for this mission she was told to not even think about touching any of the locks.

He unlocked the door and she followed him in after taking one last look behind them, wondering how everything could seem so unchanged yet already they were in the house. They walked in carefully because even if the man took sleeping pills and should be completely knocked out, they had to be careful. They neared the large hallway leading to his study when Hyorin grabbed Jaejoong's arm

"What?" He asked quietly.

"There's people here!" She whispered, her eyes widening in surprise. He opened his mouth to say something when she shook her head signaling him to not talk. She closed her eyes and very distinctively heard two heavy sets of footsteps making their way towards them.

"Two men, I think they're more guards. They're coming here. We need to hide!" She told him as she looked around frantically searching for somewhere to go.

He swore as he grabbed her arm and pulled her into small coat closet nearby.

It was cramped in, filled with boxes that shouldn't be in a coat closed so he pulled her close against his body as swung the door almost completely shut. He needed a sliver of it open so he could see what they were up against. He couldn't just take the risk of attacking them randomly with her here. The men stalled and they both waited in that small closet for them to walk past their line of vision. Jaejoong looked down at her, so close to his own body like all those times in those damn dreams he had and fought to keep control of an entire different instinct that was fighting its way through. He almost made a noise when she suddenly pressed her body closer up against him.

"What are you doing?" He asked her quietly, digging his nails into his palms.

"Ah, I want to see too. It might help since my vision is better in the darkness" She explained as she craned her head to see.

"My vision is fine in here" Jaejoong hissed placing a palm on her forehead and pushing her as far away as possible in the small space, ignoring the bewildered look on her face.

He focused on the mission at hand as two men, just like she had said walked by. They were guards he noted as he saw the gun resting at each of their sides. They walked past the small closet, unaware of the two hiding in there or of the strange silence outside. They began walking down the hallway, their backs to them and Jaejoong had less than a second to formulate his plan before he pushed the door open quietly and attacked.

I'm seriously becoming an update machine! XDD This is good for you guys I guess and good for me since it gives me something to do over those hours where there seems to be absolutely nothing on TV and I'm too lazy to call anyone or find any variety shows to actually watch hahaha I might post another chapter up later tonight? Kind of unlikely this time so I'm not making any promises, but for sure another one by tomorrow! I need to get all creatively excited before school comes bak around and the life out of me again T____T

Thanks for reading!
