Aaron bravely took a step forward; eyes still remain on the standing figure. Each step he took seems to be a century because he couldn’t get over the shock.

No. It couldn’t be…but I thought…

He couldn’t think straight anymore. The light turn bright green signaling that it’s safe for any walkers to cross the street. The figure of the person moves swiftly across the street, he blame his legs for having their own brain. Seconds later, Aaron found himself taking off after the familiar figure.

He grabs the person’s arm as soon as it is in his reach.

“George!”

In surprise, the person turns around only to be meeting with the panting Aaron.

“…A-Aaron,” he gasped.

George plays with the hem of his shirt nervously as he was seated across from Aaron, who seems like he was going to swallow him in in a matter of seconds.

The two had made themselves comfortable at a nearby café.

“George...”

George looks up from the ground hearing his name being called.

“..do you…are you…is Gui Gui with you?”

Aaron went straight to the point causing George to shift in his seat awkwardly.

“I…she’s not with me” He sighed.

“Is she…still in Australia?” Aaron asked his voice weak.

George’s face fell. “I guess you could say that”

Aaron nodded, even though his eyes show obvious confusions.

“Can you give me her address then? I want to go see her”

George shook his head.

Aaron face turn to a light shade of pink, eyes could pierce into George’s flesh- if it was possible.

“I said, I want to go see her”

“Aaron,” the older male sighed. “It’s not that I don’t want to tell you, it’s just…I don’t know if you can accept this…”

“What?”

“Gui…she went somewhere far”

“What?” Aaron couldn’t get any more confused.

“S-She’s not….she’s dead”

“GEORGE HU!!” Aaron yelled. “I’m not in the mood for jokes, if you don’t want to tell me then fine, I’ll find it on my own!”

“Aaron, I’m really not joking,” he muttered. “Don’t you know the reason why she left you the first time? She was diagnosed with cancer; she went to Australia with her mother to have it cure.”

There was a silence.

“She did have it cure, then came back to start a new with me, but then she ran into you, Aaron. She didn’t expect you meet you again. Gui Gui didn’t want to hurt you all over again, so she decided to just be friends with you with a different identity…” he paused.

“She told me everything, from her past to her feelings for you until recently. But there’s one thing she’s hiding…her cancer came back, but she didn’t tell me…” a single tear rolls down his cheek.

“Four months after we got back to Australia, she was sent to the hospital and passed away a week later.”

Aaron clenched his fists tightly together, his knuckles turns pale as he try to hold back his tears.

Aaron set a bouquet of white roses down the tomb of Gui Gui’s. He took a seat beside her and quietly sat. Thick layers of clothes wrapped securely around his body as he breath in the cold December air.

He had taken a month of vacation to Australia after hearing the news about Gui Gui. He didn’t want to believe the words of George’s, but after meeting up with the poor, old Mrs. Wu, he knows he can’t deny the truth any longer.

Taking up all of his courage, he had decided to go and give Gui Gui a visit at the cemetery.

Even though he had promise to himself not to cry in front of her grave the night before, looking ahead, Aaron couldn’t help himself any longer, a lonely tear escape his shot-blooded eyes.

You can't always expect a happy ending...I mean, I was thinking about letting Gui Gui marrying another man. You're lucky I decided to kill her. (..that sounds really mean...)
