Week one passed by as if it were nothing. However, whenever days passed me by quickly, the more I grew anxious for next week. I was constantly reminded that I was part of the “basket girls” each time I was in the hallway, looking for the next classroom with people laughing their butts off at me just because I “joined” the preposterous program.

WHEN I CLEARLY DIDN’T… I blew some air making my bangs move a little. I was stuck in a trance when she came in.

The princess of our school, Tiffany Hwang, came in. She sat three seats away from me. I scratched the back of my head. As far as I could remember, I didn’t see her name on the list. Why on earth is the lord unfair with me!? I sighed in resignation. Of course she could do anything she pleases. I think she too, were repetitively asked if she could join and of course she could just simply refuse because her family somehow owns the school and could really do anything she wants…

I glanced at her again and I caught her looking at me. She smiled at me gently and averted her gaze somewhere else. Even though she was the princess, she definitely was mysterious.

After a few good minutes of observing her from head to toe, I looked somewhere else. Somebody might think I’m a ert when I’m already weird enough for their sight and the thought of being a ert in their mind is the last thing I need right now. 

Minutes later, the professor came in with thick paper works. Looks like its quiz time. And I came unprepared

Yuri lectured me all over again as she looked at my paper horribly, “Yah, are you even Kim Taeyeon? Taeyeon are you there?” She placed the back of her hand on my forehead to check if I ran a temperature and sighed in defeat

“Taeyeon, are you okay?” I just looked at her anxiously, “You’re really not taking this too well aren’t you?”

I nodded in defeat. Getting a zero for the first time in history is a sign that I was crumbling down every single time the fundraising program butts its way to our topics

“What if I mess up out there and embarrass myself?” Yuri sat beside me and exhaled loudly

She put her hand on the back of her neck and looked at the horizon, “Didn’t we tell you we’d make you beautiful? Make guys fall in love with you at first sight?”

I nodded weakly, “You did…” She sighed, “Tae… You said it was okay and now you’re doing this to yourself… You could’ve fought a little bit harder, right?”

I could only nod again, “See? And yet you just walked away… This is your weakness I suppose… You don’t fight for what you want and simply say yes to whatever they throw at you when you shouldn’t even do that to yourself!”

I sniffed, “Can you not shout at me? It’s making me feel more anxious…”

“Sorry… I was just worried… Do you really hate becoming a basket girl?”

I shook my head, “No. It’s not that Yuri. It’s standing in front of the crowd and being embarrassed in front of so many people. That’s what’s been on my mind lately…”
