13 The Other Side
Creating Fairytale
“Choi Sulli!” the grin on Baekhyun’s face was the widest Se Ryeong had ever seen as he dropped the shopping bag (and her hand, but she’s trying hard not to be bothered by it) and enveloped the girl charging towards them in a tight embrace. A bark followed suit and a mess of brown fur bolted after its owner protectively, clawing at Baekhyun’s pants.
“Down, Monggu.” Sulli broke apart from the hug while laughing and reached for her precious puppy. “This is Baekhyun, and he is my cousin.” she smiled fondly at the animal.
“Hi Monggu, please be nice to me and my girlfriend.” Baekhyun ruffled the puppy’s fur before turning back to pull Se Ryeong closer to him. “She got you presents!”
Monggu barked excitedly, seemingly understanding the word ‘presents’ and leapt out of Sulli’s arms to sniff Baekhyun and Se Ryeong curiously.
“You bought presents for the furball?” Sulli’s eyes twinkled as she grinned. “I approve of cousin-in-law, she has sense!”
After greeting Baekhyun’s parents, Se Ryeong sat beside Baekhyun and Sulli while uncharacteristically, Jong In sat on the floor and ripped the wrapping paper apart before showing the treats and toys she bought to Monggu. Jong In was far too concentrated in a little game of tug-o-war with Monggu to hear his mother’s question. He allowed the toy bone to slip out of his grasps before kneeling over, pretending to be hurt. “Ouch, Monggu!” the dog dropped the toy in its mouth immediately and dashed over to Jong In while barking. Jong In chuckled loudly and fell on his back as he allowed the dog to all over his face.
“Jong In!” Aunty raised her voice this time and Monggu jumped off Jong In immediately before running into Sulli’s arms in fear.
“Y-yes?” Jong In was flustered as he picked himself off the floor and hurriedly picked the fur off his once pristine suit but he was practically covered in them.
Se Ryeong could feel Baekhyun stiffening beside her with his brows slightly furrowed. She threaded her fingers through his and he managed a small smile in return before leaning in to whisper by her ear. “I’ve never seen Jong In like this. Aunty must be shocked too.”
Indeed, surprised would be an understatement, but Se Ryeong was every bit surprised at this newfound side to Jong In.
“The dog is going straight to the backyar
