12 Heart Somersaults
Creating Fairytale
Armed with a box of croissants fresh out the oven from the employee cafe, Baekhyun made sure his fingers were tightly knitted with Se Ryeong’s as they stepped into the finance department, Baekhyun grinning especially widely as his ex-subordinates greeted him enthusiastically. He did not spend most of his career here for naught after all.
“I hope your new boss has not already been drowning you guys in work?” Baekhyun jumped when Se Ryeong not-so-discreetly poked him in the ribs. “Just kidding! Enjoy the croissants for your tea break later and be nice to my girlfriend.” he waved before disappearing into his old office - now Se Ryeong’s - with a chuckle.
“You’re lucky I did not kick you in the balls. I have a black belt, courtesy of oppa.” Se Ryeong informed as she set the sunflowers on her desk, the yellow bringing life to the otherwise dull office immediately.
“I would like to keep my procreation parts intact, thank you very much.” Baekhyun gulped visibly as he trailed after her and peeped at the documents laying astray on her desk. “I’m guessing princess Byul is a black belt too?”
“Blue, but she’ll get there soon enough.”
Baekhyun shuddered. “Why is your family so terrifying?”
“Please,” Se Ryeong rolled her eyes. “I’m sure we’ve both seen more terrifying people. Besides, this is called self defence.”
Indeed, there were far more terrifying and scheming people in their lives, but Baekhyun would rather not think about them for now. “What are these?” picking up the financial statements, his brows furrowed.
“Jong In dropped by this morning with plans to switch suppliers. I must say I’m pretty impressed. Have you been giving him less credit than he deserves for his work?”
“Of course not!” Baekhyun scoffed as he trained his eyes on the figures, his mind automatically translating them into possible advantages while scanning for any loopholes. “I’m assuming these figures all make sense since you’re checking them and I haven’t seen a single stray mark of doubt thus far, I’d say this is pretty feasible. Our current suppliers are long time partners but they’ve been taking advantage of this fact to overcharge us, thinking we won’t notice. I’m glad Jong In finally did.”
Se Ryeong nodded her head. “He was going to run it by you after I’m done analyzing these.”
“I’d approve anything that makes it past you.” Baekhyun chuckled as he snapped the folder close.
“Wow, no pressure there.”
“Before I forget though, we have exported our goods to a partner on credit and Jong In hasn’t been chasing them to pay up yet. He was the one who approved the transaction so I’m expecting him to get the money back before we have to write them off as irrecoverable debt. That would affect P&L greatly.”
“Noted,” Se Ryeong nodded her head as she scribbled it down in her notebook.
