Age is Just a Number
One Twist After Another>>> Late September
Onew POV
"I'm happy we're fixing this.. You need this.." I said to Rachel in the driver's seat. We're going to a psychiatrist..
"I want to fix it too, but not this way" She frowned. Rachel hates talking to strangers about her problems. "I felt much better talking to Ryeowook and Leeteuk..."
"They have work to do. They're not gunna be there all the time to talk to you. What if you need someone urgently? Leeteuk hyung is already gone. And won't be back for two years" I explained. Rachel bit back tears everytime someone mentioned Leeteuk going into army. She and Ryeowook are so torn up, along with the rest of Super Junior.
"And I'm so sorry I can't talk to you.. But I have work to do too" I frowned. "You don't know how much I'd love to be with you when you need someone"
"I'd love it too" She said holding my hand while my other hand was on the wheel. "Why can't Noize be an actual band and not just a music project? Then I'd have work too. We'd have a comeback, more music to sing, tours"
"Hey, SM is considering sending you on tour with f(x), remember?" I said, hoping it would cheer her up..
"Yeah I remember.. That's my only hope.. I want to work so bad"
"Then let's get you fixed so you can work again" I smiled. When she smiled back. It just made my day. When we finally got there, I stopped the car in the parking lot, leaned over and kissed her. "I love you so much. And I want you to get better as fast as possible. Please do this for us. All of us." I said when a broke the kiss
She sighed and nodded her head. "Fine" she mumbled. And with that, she went into the building and met with her psychiatrist.
Rachel POV
After I went to my first therapist appointment, I went to visit f(x)'s dorm. I should count myself lucky, that my friends didn't decide to lock me up. As for the talk, my therapist was a woman, very nice, very pretty. She listened well, but I couldn't find the words I wanted to say while we talked. I couldn't decide what to tell her, and what not to tell her. People say that you can say whatever you want to a therapist because they keep everything you say secret and they won't look at you any different, but I was still uncomfortable.
I was sitting on the couch, playing Mario Kart with Krystal and Amber, while Vic was cooking in the kitchen. Sulli was writing in her room and Luna was talking in her room, obviously with someone on the phone.
"I'm gunna go to the bathroom.." Krystal said while getting up. When she was gone, Amber immeidately started talking to me "How have you been feeling?" she asked. "With what? The therapist appointment fine and I got a lot off my chest. It feels great" I smiled. Amber smiled with me. "I mean.. The other thing.." Amber's smile dropped. In the middle of September, Leeteuk had left for the army, and a lot of us were still grieving over his absence. "I don't know what to think to be honest. Two years isn't that long, but I still wish he didn't have to go" I frowned. I couldn't help but feel a tight feeling in my heart. "We all miss him" Amber sighed. "We can still send video messages to him though, so he can be aware of what's going on" she continued
"But he can't send messages back"
"Well.." Amber tried to make me feel better, but trailed off.
"Yeah, I feel the same way" Luna laughed when she walked into the living room, talking on the phone. "Really?" she blushed.
"Awww, thank you"
"No, that's okay."
"You're such a gentleman, stop being so sweet" Luna talked into the phone while pacing around the house. "I wonder who she's talking to" I whispered to Amber. "Yeah. New boyfriends?" Amber giggled. "Not sure. Ask her!"
"No you ask!"
"No you!"
"Fine.."
Amber waited for Luna to make it back to the living room to approach her. "I think I kinda miss you too" Luna blushed. Who is she talking to? The suspense was eating me alive.
"Who are you talking to?" Amber asked calmly. Luna covered the phone with her hand and looked over at us and blushed.
"Ryeowook oppa" she smiled dreamily
WHAT??!?!?!
LUNA TALKING TO RYEOWOOK LIKE THAT?? WHAT IS GOING ON?? NOT THAT I'M JEALOUS.. BUT WHAT??
Without thinking, I snatched the cell phone out of Luna's hands and put it to my ear. "Hello?" I heard him say. That's definitely him..
I hung up the phone as quickly as I could.. When I finally came to my senses, I found out that my heart was pounding with anger, I looked over to a near by mirror and saw that my face was bright red. I looked over at Amber, who was giving me a confused look. And over at Luna, who was looked pissed. "Unnie? What the hell! I was talking to someone!" she hissed at me.
Then it hit me.
"I-I'm sorry.. Call him back.. Sorry" I stuttered and held out the phone to Luna. She snatched it from my hands and stomped back into her room.
Why... Did I do that?

The next day, everyone was gathered in the SM building. F(x) was working on a new dance, a few Super Junior members were there, including Ryeowook, and SHINee was there having a photo shoot.
"Hey. Are you okay today? For some reason you look kinda pissed.." Key looked across the table to me. SHINee and I, along with Amber and Vic were sitting down eating lunch. "I'm not angry" I faked a smile "Are you sure? You kinda do" Taemin agreed. "Yeah, what happened last night. I wasn't paying attention. Amber said something about Luna and you got into a fight" Vic asked. All five SHINee members looked at me wide-eyed. "I'll tell you guys about it later. It's sorta a long story" I waved the issue off and looked around the big cafeteria. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Luna, talking to someone. This someone was being blocked form my view because they were standing behind the wall. Luna was smiling and laughing, obviously enjoying this talk she was having.
Onew saw that I was looking over at Luna and held my hand. "Maybe you should go talk to her.." he advised me. I considered it, but first I needed to know who she was talking to, although I had a good idea who it was.
Finally, she said goodbye to the person and started walking off, not before giving this person a hug, of course. After she started to walk off slowly, the person person finally emerged from behind the wall
It was Ryeowook..
I could feel myself fume and my hands form into fists.
Luna POV
"Unnie! Come on! We have work to do!" I heard Sulli yell behind me. "I better go. See you later then?" I asked Ryeowook. "Yes you will" He smiled. Ughh, I can't help but blush. "Okay" I said before deciding whether or not to hug him. I was thinking about it when he reached out and hugged me. My heart was beating a thousand beats a second. I started to walk off. I looked around the cafeteria one last time. But then I saw Rachel. She was marching up to Ryeowook. Is she cheating on Onew with him or something? But then I looked over at the table and saw Onew watching the whole thing. Hmm, guess he knows about the situation. But I don't.
I watched as Rachel said something to Ryeowook. I couldn't read her lips. Ryeowook's back was to me and I couldn't see his face. He just shrugged his shoulders. Rachel rolled her eyes and pulled him into another room. I lost control of myself and started following them without trying to be seen. They finally stopped in one of the studios where we take our photoshoots and listened... And watched from behind the wall.
"What is up with you??" Ryeowook asked Rachel, he sounded a bit stunned.
"Since when have you become such good friends with Luna?" she asked.
"Uhh, we've been friends longer than you and I have.." he replied with attitude.. Oh, not a good idea to get on her bad side, oppa.
"Do you like her??" she asked again, raising her voice.
"Why?? You jealous?" he laughed.
"NO!"
"Then why ask?"
"... Curious"
Ryeowook didn't reply for a minute, like he was thinking.
"I think.. I think I do" he sighed. Awwww. He likes me?? My heart started to flutter. But my happy moment ended when Rachel almost exploded.
"WHY??" she roared.
"So are you jealous.. Or.." he tried to change the subject
"It's not jealousy! I just wanna know what happens in one of my best friends' love life.. And the fact that you didn't tell me sorta pisses me off! I don't like you like that. But I don't like the thought of you dating. Now answer my question.. Why?"
"I..I don't know.. We started getting in touch again and it just happened.. What's the big deal?"
"Dude. She's too young for you.." she started to calm down.
"What? No she's not!"
"Uhh, yeah she is. It's uh" Rachel stopped and did the math in her head. "6 years age difference" she continued. Woow. I didn't know how old he was. I knew he was over 21, but still.
"So what? Age is just a number. Besides, she's legal.. Right?" Ryeowook asked quietly.
Rachel sighed. "I don't know. All I know is she's not old enough... "
It pained me to think about it but she was right. 6 years age difference? That's a lot. That means he was born in 1987. My parents wouldn't dare to let me date him. Only over their dead bodies. My heart slowly started to sink.
"Who says? You?" he barked. Wow, he really sounds angry.
"Yes me. You've told me that I give very good advice" Rachel argued
"That was before you almost killed yourself by jumping off that cliff!" Ryeowook yelled.
She what???
"Don't bring that up! I didn't know what I was doing!" she screamed back.
"Whatever. You can't tell me who I can and who I can't date. You're not my mom! And besides, if it's bad for me and Luna to talk and be around each other, then it's obviously bad for you to be friends with Leeteuk. He's 6 years older than you too!" he ranted loudly
"5... Years" she snapped and held up five fingers. "And 9 months"
"Is it bad for us to be friends? I'm two years old than you!" he protested
"1 year and 10 months" she added. Wow, she's good at math.
"Doesn't matter! God! Why do you have to be so protective" he screamed in her face. I hate to see them fight like this, and all because of me
I watched as Rachel held in her anger and started to walk away.
"I'll be talking to Leeteuk about this tonight" she threatened. Like a mother would say to her child "Wait until your father hears about this"
"Ohh. And when you mean 'talking' you mean talking to a camera and sending him a message, pretending he'll talk back. Yeah that's reeeeaaally gunna help" Ryeowook fumed.
Rachel marched up to Ryeowook and looked up at him with angry eyes, trying her hardest not to scream. "If he was here, he'd agree with me. And you don't know.. How much I want to talk to him.. So don't joke about it.." she choked back tears.
"I want to talk to him too. Trust me. Without him, I feel like we're missing a piece of our lives!" yelled again. They both just stared into each other's eyes, with their hands in fists. I could feel the pure anger in the air.
"I'm telling you.. Don't fall for Luna!.. Her family won't even let you date, so you lost before the battle even begun!.. And even if you did date her, you'd look like a e!!" she bullied him. Ryeowook's jaw dropped and he squinted in disgust.
"Well maybe.. You shouldn't be hanging around me and every guy from our label while you have a boyfriend. Because honestly.. It makes you look.. Like a !" he spat at her. I couldn't believe my ears.
Rachel couldn't control herself anymore.
She breathed in and took her hand up and slapped Ryeowook right across the face. HARD. I couldn't help but gasp.
Ryeowook knelt down in pain while holding his red cheek. I wanted to run into the scene and help him. I also wanted to yell at Rachel, for hurting my crush. But I didn't do it. It would just create more trouble.
"Fine.. Go.. Go after her.. I won't stop you" she hissed, looking down at Ryeowook. He looked up at her, with an I'm-sorry look on his face. He knew where he'd gone wrong. I could tell he had regret saying that.
"And thanks for the tip. I won't hang around you. Because you're a guy and I have a boyfriend. I don't wanna look like a " she said, tears finally falling from her face. Ryeowook reached up to wipe the tears, but she jerked away.
"DON'T TOUCH ME! AND LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!" Rachel screamed in his face, right before leaving him on the ground to thrive in pain. I still couldn't approach him. I didn't want him to know that I was listening the whole time..
"No please! Wait! I'm sorry!" Ryeowook tried to stop her but trailed off when she walked out of the room and slammed the door.
I watched sadly as he just laid on the ground and cried. "Rachel's gone, Leeteuk's gone. My best friends.. Oh why?" he mumbled, barely audible through his sobs. He sobbed louder and louder. I didn't know what to do. This wasn't all my fault.. Was it? Regardless, it was the first time I watched Ryeowook cry, and it was so heart breaking.
I just tip-toed out of the scene and went through to the cafeteria the same way I came in, leaving Ryeowook alone.
I looked over at the lunch table, except this time, Vic and Amber left and it was now just the five SHINee boys.
I remember when I used to have a crush on Onew.. He was such a good oppa. He still is. Then Rachel stepped in and took him away. I hated her.. But then I grew to let go of Onew and I realized how fun and vibrant Rachel is.
But it's happening all over again with Ryeowook. Rachel couldn't be more right about the issue with age difference, but I didn't want to be right. I wanted Ryeowook to be my boyfriend.
Maybe someday, everyone will except us. Rachel, my family, everyone. And through all this, I wondered what Leeteuk oppa would say about all of this. What side would he choose. Ryeowook or Rachel? Ryeowook, Rachel, and Leeteuk were the three best friends of SMTown. For the past few months, they've stuck to each other like glue.
I was lost in thought when I watched Rachel fast walk over to the lunch table and start grabbing her purse and work out clothes. She was crying profusely.
Onew stood up in shock at his girlfriend's depressed state. She tried to say goodbye but Onew held her back. Then Onew held on of her hands while Minho held the other and they tried walking out of the building together, but right outside the door, Rachel fell to her knees and let out a loud cry.
I only sighed and walked to the room f(x) has been practicing in. We were dancing to one of our new songs when I saw Ryeowook pass by the door. My heart skipped a beat. His cheek was still cherry red where Rachel slapped him. He was still crying as well. I looked out of the door and saw Ryeowook approach Kyuhyun oppa. "Hyung! What happened to you??" he asked.
"It's nothing,w-we'll talk about it later-r" Ryeowook's voice trembled. He started to look back, but I made it back into the room before he could see me.
Why do I feel like I'm the bad guy here?
