Be Still My Heart

Our Love Story
Hayoung's point of view

The morning was bright as I opened my eyes. Like a dream, I was afraid it wasn't real. His hold, his touch, the warm sensation still lingered on my skin. I couldn't help but smile as my chest began fluttering. I didn't know what he meant last night but I prayed it was him accepting me, that he didn't mind my imperfections.

I stared at the wall that hung the uniform I would be wearing for the first time. Nervous, I imagined what the first day would be like. I couldn't help but feel stressed.

Kwangmin's point of view

Sitting in the van, I faced the window. I haven't said anything to Youngmin since last night or this morning at the shoot. I glanced at him sleeping, his lavender cream eyelids closed. The image of him holding her in his arms made me annoyed, jealous...I hated it. I was never jealous of my brother but now, whenever I looked at him, all I could see was her.

Minwoo tapped me on the shoulder catiously. "Hyung... did you get in a fight with Youngmin?" I shook my head, avoiding any tension. "Im... just tired." Minwoo's hand retreated as he pouted, still unconvinced.

Outside, I saw Joori waiting for me at the end of the stairs. She waved at me ecstatically, sporting cute pigtails with her usual retro glasses. I waved back as I joined her at the bottom.

Clicking her tongue, she looked up and down at me. " Tsk, tsk, tsk, no, no, no!" She said angrily. I tilted my head, confused. "This!" she pointed at my face. I looked at the reflection on the bullentine board besides me. "What?" I studied my face, in search for something out of place. "Are you going like this!?" She questioned, her words obviously sarcastic. "Huh?" I asked, surprised. "Where's your makeup? How do you expect to stand out like this?"

I blinked, perplexed. "Stand out? I just want to blend in and finish today quickly." I confessed eagerly. She looked at me in horror. "I am not letting you walk off like this. Trust me, in this school if you dont make a statement for yourself, you'll just blend in." "But that what I wa-" she dragged me into the bathroom. "Sit!" I tried to get up but she was surprisingly strong.

With a smirk she smiled. "Just leave it to me."

The bell rang as I stepped out of the van. Minwoo shook Youngmin to wake up. The same girls were waiting at the gate with their cellphones, snapping shots and squealing excitedly. I gestured a wave as service, while Minwoo smiled innocently and signed several notebooks. Youngmin still half asleep, followed behind, ignoring the ruckus.

As the final bell rang, I sat down at the back of the class. High fiving Shin In-tak, my best friend, he asked what we did for break. As the the seats filled, I wondered where Hayoung was. Youngmin sitting in front of me, was drinking strawberry milk he had recieved from a fan. Annoyed, I kicked his chair purposely. Spilling it down his chin and neck, he cursed. "Yah! What's your problem?!" He complained, pulling at his collar. I smiled innocently, "Sorry, an accident." In-tak offered him his handkerchief as he glared at me. As he wiped the sticky liquid from his fingers, Mrs. Park, the homeroom teacher opened the door. "Hello class, take your seats." Once the class settled, she began attendance, calling our names one by one.

Running, I searched for my first class. I was already late since Joori wouldn't let me leave at the first bell. In return, she drew a route to my class, promising it was a shortcut but unfortunately,I was still having a hard time. She had told me I was in the same class as the twins. I felt my heart squeeze as I began to think of Youngmin...

Looking at the class signs above the doors, I managed to find 5B-6 in front of me. Stopping to glance at myself in another reflection of a bulletin board, I fixed my hair, trying to calm myself. "I can do this..." I bit my lip nervously as I breathed deeply, slowly pulling the door open...

Youngmin's point of view

Irritated at Kwangmin, I muttered under my breath as I wiped myself. As Mrs. Park began the attendance, I looked around for Hayoung. "Was she lost?" I thought to myself. Suddenly, the door creaked slowly, interrupting Mrs. Park and her roll call. My eyes shifted towards the sound, stunned.

Kwangmin's point of view

At first, I didn't recognize her. When she came in, she had her hair down, covering the sides of her face. "Are you Na Hayoung?" Mrs. Park asked kindly. A small familar voice spoke. "Y-yes.. Im sorry I'm late. I was lost." My eyed opened wide as I saw her face. Her hair was slightly curled and accessorized with a pink feminine bow. Her eyes were brighter and her cheeks seemed rosier then before. She truly looked beautiful.

I felt my heart beat faster as I remembered last night. I stared at Youngmin's back as I regained that pain in my chest.

When she came in, I couldn't think. First I was surprised then slowly, I felt embarrassed. I remembered my bold actions last night and I felt feverish. She looked different today, girlier, feminine. My heart began to race again. I could still feel her warm body in my arms. When I gazed at her after steadying my emotions, I met her twinkling eyes. She bit her lip as her cheeks flushed pink.

Hayoung's point of view

He was there, sitting in front of me. I couldn't look away as I began to blush. I thought I could act normally but I still felt bewildered when I saw his dark eyes. As the teacher introduced herself, she introduced me to the class. I felt the eyes on me, making me feel dizzy and timid.

Thankfully she let me join the class but when she pointed to the seat by the twins, I began to panic inside. I evened my breathing and smiled at them the best I could, pushing the shyness away. "Good morning.." I whispered, putting my bag down carefully. Kwangmin slightly waved at me as Youngmin looked away. I felt my heart fall to the floor. Perhaps I was over thinking him.
