Chapter 11

Jessica’s POV

I was supposed to have my off today but my tight budget required me to go to work. Thankfully, the manager assigned me to the service area, meaning there would be less interaction with the patrons, particularly those erted teenage boys and ahjussis.  However, they can still request for me to join their tables if they want to.

Being a maid in the service area would mean ‘no tips’ but I still enjoyed it despite my current situation. My shift would be quieter and more peaceful. No ing eyes on me, no aegyo, and no pretending. Ah, the feeling is so surreal.

“For table 11!” The chef yelled at the expeditor as he handed out several freshly-prepared dishes from the kitchen. The expeditor then called the maid in charge of the said table to serve them. 

“Is everything good?” The chef inquired and checked the order slip.

“No. Strawberry Bear Muffins are still in the oven. Tell the barista to wait for them before preparing the Perfect Matcha.” The pastry chef responded.

 My lips automatically formed a small smile when those particular thoughts filled my mind.

As I made my way from the service area to the tatami area with a tray occupying my hands, I saw Joohyun approached the manager and heard something about the patrons from table 11 requesting for another maid and the manager immediately approved.

I don’t really give a damn about the customers but when I spotted a familiar figure from afar, a spark of interest ignited my being a tad bit.

“Is it her?” I confirmed it’s really Taeyeon as I was getting nearer and nearer to their table. She has a company of a girl and two guys, then the thought of her telling me she has a boyfriend popped in my mind. “Probably a double date.”

I watched the guy sitting across from Taeyeon devour his food like a hyena while Taeyeon looked so famished. Must not be him. I mean, what kind of boyfriend lets his girlfriend starve like that? The other guy doesn’t seem to be the one too. So where is he? Does he know that Taeyeon is here? Ah, why do I think so much about it like it’s my business?
