It All Begins With A Choice

Narrator’s POV

Chaerin winced as her mother kept on complaining.

“That…Wu Yifan! Kris! I don’t like him! He’s rude. He is not even a Jiang, how could he do this to me?”

“Eomma, he’s~”

“He insulted me in front of that butler and Minyoung too! Wait till I get back at him~”

“Eomma! Stop it!” Chaerin stood up. Sekyung closed .

“You said, I should secure myself in this family. Kris….is the way I can secure myself.”

“…What?”

“I want him…to marry me, eomma. This will only secure my position in the family more.”

Lay raised his brows as they walked to the front door.

“What was that?” He asked. Kris didn’t say anything.

“I’ll go ahead.” Kris said and left. Minyoung sighed.

“Let him be, he’s not really in the mood.” Lay said as they walked out together. By the time they walked out of the house, Kris’ black Ferrari was speeding out of the compound.

“Ge, earlier…I didn’t really like the way…..Mrs. Gu treated Jang.”

Lay nodded.

“You’re lucky it wasn’t Tao. He would have…grabbed his katana and go wushu killer.”

Minyoung chuckled lightly. She shook her head.

“Chaerin’s my cousin, but why….does her aunt have to live with us?”

“That, I have always wanted to ask agung about it, but I never gathered the guts to.” Lay nodded.

Minyoung bit her lip.

“Don’t worry too much.” Lay patted her hand before heading to his car.

Today was her off day, so Junhee decided to roam around the city. She didn’t know why but she ended up at Gangnam. She always liked to see if the art galleries were open.

She made her way, walking at the sidewalk. She looked at the tall building of Jiang Empire, she smiled a little.

“I still don’t believe it~” She muttered, then someone accidentally bumped onto her shoulder, causing her bag and sketch book to fall.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t see you.” The man said quickly as he bent down to pick up her things. Junhee did the same.

“It’s fine, I was standing in the middle.”

She looked at the guy. She blinked.

“You draw very well.” Lay said as he handed the sketchbook to her.

“Ah…..yes, thank you.”

Lay gave her a smile before heading inside the building.

She remembered Minyoung and the guys she came with at the shop.

“Is it me or does that company grow flower boys?” She muttered to herself before walking away.

“I still….don’t get it.” Minyoung muttered with Myungsoo beside her.

The two were at a small coffee shop at Gangnam, after their two final exams, they immediately went out of the university.

“It’s the last week of school, graduation’s two weeks from now and we’re free.” Myungsoo said.

“Of course, I know that, you idiot.” She muttered as she picked up their take out, a bunch of donuts and coffee for Myungsoo.

“Whoa, why are you venting your anger on me?”

“Is it wrong that….I don’t like my cousin’s aunt?”

“Nope. We all have our own way of dealing with things, I like coffee and you don’t. It’s the same.” Myungsoo got the cup from her as they went out of the shop.

“I mean, I think she’s over doing it, and I get the feeling she’s just using Chaerin unnie.”

“Did you tell your grandfather about it?”

“Aniya, I’ll just get reprimanded for that.”

“But L, the thing I don’t get is that….my geges….none of them seem to get along with her.”

Myungsoo chuckled.

“Even Luhan hyung?” He asked.

Minyoung nodded.

“I understand if Tao and Kris hyung doesn’t get along with her but even your sunshine gege?”

Minyoung rolled her eyes.

“I just…it makes me feel uncomfortable, when we dine together at home, it feels like there’s this thick wall of tension.”

“Maybe it’s the aunt. I’m sure Chaerin doesn’t feel that way about you guys though. Look at it this way, Youngie, for….like forever you five were living all by yourselves, then this newcomer…arrives, with baggage, it would take time for you to adjust. Just talk to your grandfater I’m sure he could fix that.”

Minyoung blinked at him.

“That was the longest speech I’ve ever heard from you.”

Myungsoo sighed.

“Were you even listening to me?”

Kris looked at documents before him. Luhan was looking through some photos.

“So they own a bakeshop, not far from here.”

Kris nodded.

“And they have one employee, who is actually living with them.”

“She’s not an employee, Gu Sekyung apparently has a daughter and a son.”

Luhan’s brows furrowed.

“She never mentioned it to agung?” Luhan asked. Kris nodded.

“But, why would she….leave her children? Chaerin is just her niece.” Luhan muttered.

“Ta baochi de dongxi.(She is keeping something.) ”
