Epilogue

A Summer's Desire! [♥]

Dear readers, this is the very last chapter. I hope that you enjoyed reading this fanfic.  :)

------Jooli------

After Jaejoong’s romantic confession, the dinner ended with many people congratulating not only the newly engaged couples, but Jaejoong and I too. I remembered when the melodic tune of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” started playing, Jaejoong had swiftly took me by my waist and started to dance in time with the music. For the whole three hours of the dinner, I felt like I was blessed with God’s love. I had never felt so loved by anyone other than my parents before. I never thought that falling in love would feel so exciting and so special to me. The person who I thought was a stupid jerk ended up being my loving boyfriend. The greatest things happen when you least expect it.

The very next morning, I was up early because I had to start packing my things. I would be leaving very soon for Oxford and I wanted to spend the last couple days having fun and not working. Yunho had let me off for the final days of my summer freedom to spend some special time with the people around me. Just when I was about to zip open my suitcase, someone knocked on my door. I got up from my sitting position to unlock the door. To no surprise, it was my parents. Actually, a part of me was disappointed. I had thought that it would be Jaejoong who would be the one knocking on my door.

“Mom, dad, what are you doing here?” I asked them. It wasn’t even nine in the morning, but they were already up and smiling like they got plenty of sleep. As for me, I had spent most of the night smiling to myself and replying the confession scene in my head. I just couldn’t get over the fact that Jaejoong had confessed to me. After his confession, he put the star necklace around my neck. After that, I haven’t taken it off because I was afraid I would lose it, just like the first star necklace he gave me. I still haven’t found it.

“We wanted you to come join us for some breakfast dear.” My mother told me. My father nodded in agreement. Both of them had a huge grin on their faces. I knew something was up. They never smiled that widely unless something good was going to happen.

“Uh… who else is going to be there?” I asked them with an eyebrow raised.

“Baby!~” I suddenly heard a voice singing it’s way down the hallway. I poked my head out to see the one, the only, Kim Jaejoong running down the hallway with a huge smile on his face. If it weren’t for the fact that he called me ‘Baby’, I would have been pretty happy to see him.

“Stupid panda! Who said you could call me baby?” I punched his arm lightly when he had stopped right in front of my door. Of course, he greeted my parents before directing his attention to me.

“Fine! Would you like it even more if I called you pig?” He asked with a smirk. That stupid smirk.

“I would love it if you didn’t call me either one of those.” I frowned.

“Okay, okay. Enough with the arguing. Let’s go down to the restaurant for some breakfast. My stomach is going to growl if I don’t consume any meat fast enough.” My father laughed.

“Alright, just wait one second. I’ve got to get my key to lock the door.” I exclaimed as I walked back to my room to put my shoes on and grab my essentials.

“Do you want to finish packing before eating?” Jaejoong came in and sat down on my bed.

“Nah, it’s okay. I’ll just finish packing later. I still have a couple days before leaving. Now, come on, let’s go.” I replied as I walked ahead of Jaejoong. He had his attention focused on something.

“Jae, what’s wrong?” I asked him as I walked back to where he was sitting. But just as I was close, he got up with a smile.

“Nothing. Why don’t you and your parents go to the elevator first? I’m just going to use the washroom and I’ll meet you guys.” He replied with a smile.

“Uh… Okay. Make sure the door is locked before you leave.” I told him as I walked out with my parents. The three of us walked towards the elevator and pressed the button. Just as we were about to get into the elevator, Jaejoong came running towards us. The entire time we were going down the elevator, Jaejoong had a huge grin on his face.

“Why do you look so happy today?” I asked him when the four of us were being seated at our table. Luckily, the area was too loud to let my parents hear our conversation. If they saw us being so lovey-dovey, they would definitely make some cheesy remarks.

“It’s because I’m with you.” He replied with a cheesy grin. I could only laugh and look away so he couldn’t see my blush. He always had a way of making me feel like such a girl. Even though I wasn’t fully adjusted to his act of kindness, I liked it. At least it was better than yelling at each all day.

When we got to the table, we found that Mr. and Mrs. Kim were also seated. It didn’t surprise me at all. The four elders probably wanted to ask us some question concerning our relationship. I greeted Jaejoong’s parents as I sat down between his my mom and Jaejoong. The four elders couldn’t stop smiling at Jaejoong and I. I found it quite creepy.

“Is there something you guys want to ask us?” I asked with a laugh. They looked fishy.

“Oh, it’s nothing dear. We just want to say that you two look amazing together. I knew something would happen between you two.” Mrs. Kim smiled widely back. I couldn’t help but give a small chuckle. She was right.

“Mom…” Jaejoong groaned. He hid his face in his hands, but you could tell that he had a smile on his face.

“Now, all I’m wishing for is some grandchildren.” Mrs. Kim responded. I looked up and stared at her with shock. Jaejoong and I had just started dating and they’re already asking for grandchildren. That was too much, and plus, I was only 19.

“Uh… Mrs. Kim… I’m only 19.” I gave an uneasy smile.

“Mom… let’s not talk about this at the moment. We just started dating.” Jaejoong scratched the back of his neck. He was embarrassed. I laughed at his nervous gesture.

After the awkward conversation, the six of us had a peaceful and happy breakfast. We talked and we laughed. We shared embarrassing baby stories and we shared stories from back in high school. We found out that the four elders were going to be leaving that evening because of work related situations. I tried to get my parents to stay for a couple days longer, but they really had to leave. I was kind of upset because I would be going straight to Oxford and not going back home, so I wouldn’t be able to see them before going off to school. They told me I could go back during vacation time and see them. Jaejoong and I had decided to spend the entire day with the four parents. We wanted them to have fun before leaving.

Once we finished breakfast, we drove to the mall to do some shopping. Honestly, there weren’t a lot for elder people to do on the island. It was more for young people or couples. That’s why we had stayed inside the mall for most of the time. My parents wanted to buy some gifts to bring back home and I needed to buy some stuff to bring to Oxford. I kept telling them that I wasn’t going to be able to fit everything in my suitcase, but Jaejoong’s parents had told me to not worry. They had a way of shipping my things to Oxford. I guess people with lots of money could do many things.

“Mom… Dad… Don’t be like this. I’m just going to school. It’s not like I’m getting married.” I tried to calm my parents down. My family and Jaejoong’s family were at the airport because all four of the elders were leaving. I was consoling my parents while Jaejoong was talking with his.

“You’re an adult now Jooli and we won’t be there for you, but at least you’ll have Jaejoong with you. Knowing that he’ll be watching you makes me feel calmer. Now, don’t go clubbing and don’t go doing things bad Jooli.” My father instructed me.

“Dad, you already said it. I’m an adult now. I can handle everything by myself. It’s not like I’m going to be relying everything on Jaejoong. I want to learn how to become independent.” I replied with a small smile. I knew my parents wanted me to be safe. That’s what I loved about them. Everything they did was for me. That’s why I want to do good in the future so I can provide them a happy and healthy life.

“Of course she’ll be alright. Jaejoong will be with her all the way, right dear?” Mrs. Kim walked over with a welcoming smile as she placed her right arm on my shoulder. I looked at her with a smile as Mr. Kim and Jaejoong joined us.

“Of course. I’ll take care of Jooli Mr. Park. I won’t let you down.” Jaejoong confidently smiled as he took my hand and wrapped his around it. It was the first time he had made the move to hold my hand. It was also my very first time holding a boy’s hand. I couldn’t help but blush at the sudden contact.

“Calling all SK0125 boarders to South Korea and all US1387 boarders to California! Please walk towards the entrance. Boarding entrance will be opening in fifteen minutes. Thank you and have a nice day.” The speaker boomed. It was time for the four to leave.

“Please have a safe flight Mr. and Mrs. Kim. And once again, thank you for this fantastic summer. I hope I can see you soon.” I bid good-bye to Jaejoong’s parents first while Jaejoong said good-bye to my parents. I looked over to see Jaejoong blushing after my mom whispered something into his ear.

“What did you tell Jaejoong mom?” I asked her when I switched spots with Jaejoong. I gave a hug to both of my loving parents.

“Nothing dear. Now, take good care of yourself. We’ll see you soon.” My mom replied with a smile. I nodded and smiled at them.

“We hope to see both of you two soon.” Mr. Kim smiled at us.

“See you soon.” I smiled while Jaejoong and I waved at all four of them as they walked off. I waited until I couldn’t see their backs anymore before turning to Jaejoong.

“So, what did my mom say to you just now?” I asked him with my arms cross.

“Nothing… Now come on! Let’s go!” Jaejoong chuckled as he grabbed my hand once again and pulled me out of the airport. His arm felt so warm against mine. I loved the feeling of his skin touching mine.

The days that I had left in Hawaii went by so fast. When you’re having fun, time goes by especially fast. I didn’t want to leave so soon. Jaejoong had booked his airplane ticket to the UK on the same day as mine. We decided to start my new life together. He had already started to ship some of my things over to his apartment, which was only a five minute walk to the actual school. We would be living together. Of course, we would stay in separate rooms. He knew that I wouldn’t want to do anything so rational because our relationship had just sprouted. I was excited to start a new life with him. Jaejoong and I were together every single day after he confessed to me. I learned so much more about him. Our relationship wasn’t progressing at an exponential speed, but I was okay with it. I kind of wanted to take things slowly. Jaejoong decided to have a little friendly gathering on the day before we leave. He invited Yunho, Victoria, Jina, and David to his suite, which was much larger than mine and we also had more privacy. Jaejoong didn’t want to have a party in the restaurant because it would be too loud. My so-called boyfriend decided to make everyone dinner and everyone was more than glad to come.

“I’ll get that!” I exclaimed as I jumped up from my seat on the couch in Jaejoong’s living room to get the door. Jaejoong and I had gone to the nearby supermarket to pick up some ingredients for dinner. He was in charge of cooking while I was in charge of everything else.

“Jooli!” The door opened to four of our guests. Victoria and Jina were standing right in front of me while the two boys were standing behind them. I greeted them with hugs and let them into the room.

“Hey Mr. Cook!” Jina exclaimed as she gave Jaejoong a wave.

“Hey guys.” He smiled back at everyone. He had stopped what he was doing in the kitchen and walked up to us. He still had his apron on. It was actually something that I found quite interesting. It was a pink Hello Kitty apron. I had to be honest and say that he looked very cute in it, but I found it weird that he was able to pull it off. I guess his feminine appearance gave him advantages.

“Looking good in that apron Jae.” Yunho took a look at his younger brother and started to laugh. The rest of the group laughed along. Jaejoong blushed a little bit at the comment. He knew he looked girly in it, but he said that not all guys can pull it off. He was right. When Yunho tried it on, it totally didn’t match his appearance. He’s too manly to look girly.

“Alright, why don’t you guys go and do something else while I start cooking? Dinner should be ready in about an hour and a half.” Jaejoong tried to calculate the amount of time needed to finish making the dinner as he walked towards the kitchen.

“I’ll help him. You guys can go start a movie or something. There’s a whole stack of new movies right next to the TV.” I told the rest of the group as I followed Jaejoong into the kitchen. I didn’t want him to do everything by himself. This party was partly because of me, so it didn’t feel right if I just sat while my boyfriend was preparing everything. Yes, my boyfriend. It felt weird to say that, but I liked how it sounded.

“It’s okay. You can go sit with them. I can handle this.” Jaejoong smiled when he saw that I had walked into the kitchen to help him. Even though I’ve seen that smile a bunch of times before, it still gave me the shivers. It melted my heart.

“I’m not going to let you do this by yourself. I’m part of this too. Plus, I’m you’re… girlfriend.” I whispered the last part as I looked at the ground to avoid his eyes.

“Well then, you can start by washing the vegetables, ‘girlfriend’.” He smiled when I acknowledged myself as his girlfriend. I looked at him with sparkling eyes and laughed.

The two of us spent the next hour and a half in the kitchen together. We had fun teasing each other’s cutting skills, cooking skills, and oily faces. Jaejoong definitely looked like he knew how to cook. He looked very professional. Everything from his concentration, his tasting actions, his mixing actions, and his entire body gesture made me think that he was a real cook. I loved guys who could cook. I loved to eat, so having a man who can make all sorts of delicious food was definitely something I wanted in my life.

“Wow…” Jina exclaimed when she took a bite of the grilled chicken. Jaejoong had made pasta for us. He made three different sauces to serve with it and then he also made a lot of side dishes like grilled chicken, sweet corn, baked clams, Caesar salad, sweet and sour pork, pork ribs, and sushi. It was quite unbelievable that he was able to prepare so many things in such little time.

“If I wasn’t here to witness this, I would have thought you bought these from a top notch restaurant. I never knew you could cook like this.” I mumbled as I took a bite of my pasta with Carbonara sauce on top. He definitely gave me a surprise. It was freaking delicious. It was definitely as good as five-star restaurants. The taste of bacon was really strong, but it wasn’t overpowering the milk flavor. The texture of the sauce was smooth and creamy. It was just wonderful.

“Didn’t think that I could cook, right?” He smirked at me.

“Jaejoong doesn’t like to show off his cooking skills. He’s such a better cook than I am.” Yunho replied with a chuckle. He looked like he was enjoying his plate of pasta.

“We can tell that his cooking is amazing. David looks like he’s really enjoying the food.” Jina laughed at her boyfriend who was busy stuffing his face to notice what we were talking about. David looked up and gave us a shy smile before going back to eating his pasta.

“Well, this being the last day before we leave, I wanted to make say thanks. Thanks for giving me such a memorable summer. I know it may sound very cliché, but I wanted to say that without you guys, I don’t think I would have been able to meet Jooli. Thanks to you all.” Jaejoong suddenly stood up with his glass of wine in his right hand. We all looked at him with pondering eyes.

“It’s not us that brought you two together. It’s fate.” Victoria smiled at both Jaejoong and I as she stood up with her glass.

“Just like how Victoria and I met again.” Yunho added on as he did the same.

“And I’m glad to have met such amazing people.” Jina exclaimed as she also did the same.

“To an amazing summer and to amazing people.” David was the last one who spoke as he also stood up with his glass.

“To an amazing summer and to amazing people.” All six of us shouted as we clinked our glasses together and cheered.

After dinner ended, everyone stayed a bit longer to say chat. Even though we would all be seeing each other the day after when they would see both Jaejoong and I off to at the airport, we still talked. It wasn’t until eleven at night when Yunho said he should leave because he had to wake up early for work the next morning. Everyone followed suit and bid Jaejoong and I good-bye before leaving.

“Well, that was fun. Thanks for the delicious dinner.” I smiled at Jaejoong when we sat down on his couch. He sat on the opposite end and had a satisfied smile plastered on his gorgeous face.

“Whenever you need a hearty meal, just ask me and I’ll get down to business. I’ve got plenty more recipes that you haven’t seen before.” He smiled as he scooted himself closer to me.

“I hope so.” I chuckled as I looked into his eyes.

“You know what? I’m being really cheesy and all, but I have to say that I’m really glad I met you.” Jaejoong said softly.

“Oh really? I thought you always hated me.” I laughed.

“That was before. What if I told you that I love you now?” He looked at me. The expression he gave off made me quiet down. I looked into his eyes and could see that he was being truthful. He fell in love with me in just one summer. I always thought that love took a long time to develop, but Jaejoong proved me wrong. I fell in love just as fast as he fell in love with me.

“Then I would tell you that I’m in love with you too.” I gave him a soft smile.

“Then, you would love me even more if I gave you this, right?” He smiled widely as he reached into his pocket and showed me a small black box. The box looked awfully like a ring box. There was no way he was proposing to me.

“Jae?...” I questioned. I was not ready for marriage.

“Don’t worry. I’m not proposing to you just yet, but this is something that I would like you to keep forever. This is another thing that represents my love to you.” He smiled as he opened the box. Inside were two rings alright. But what surprised me was that one of them looked exactly like the star necklace that I had lost. The other one was just a simple looking silver band, but if you looked close enough, you could see that there were stars imprinted on the band.

“Isn’t that the necklace you gave me? I thought I lost it! Where did you get it?” I gasped as I looked at him with confusion.

“You remember the other day when we had breakfast with our parents? I was sitting on your bed and I found it lying on the ground. I was going to give it back to you, but then your mom said something to me that made me re-think that thought. She said “Don’t let good things slip away. Hold on to it or you’ll regret it later.” So, I decided to take the pendant and turn it into a ring instead. This isn’t a marriage ring, but this is a ring that I hope can keep you attached to me. I want to remind you that I love you every day. So, Park Jooli, are you willing to be with me until the day our world ends?” He told me. In a way, I felt like his confession was a marriage proposal, but he said it wasn’t. It was a symbol of our love. I was speechless for an entire minute because I was just shocked.

“You know what Jaejoong? This will be our symbol of love. I will accept it, but one day, I’ll be hoping for an even bigger one. One that’s much bigger than Victoria’s.” I laughed.

“Of course.” Jaejoong smiled widely as he took off the small ring and slid it onto my finger. I then slid the bigger one onto his. Seriously, we looked like we were getting married.

“So, I would just like to say, I love you.” I whispered to him softly.

“I love you too.” He replied back as he leaned in to give me a kiss so compassionate, I could literally feel my arms and legs going weak.
