MyungYeol One-Shot Collection

so uh I've been at a lost for days as to what oneshot to write until this came to be. because of -Yoshi and all of you guise that liked the first oneshot of this...here it is! this isn't really a sequel but more of a continuation of what happened in the first one. okay so it's not as good as the first (was the first even good? lol) but like I wrote this with my friend and her boyfriend over cuddling on my bed so excuse me if I was a little off.

After Myungsoo had thanked the man and started on his way to get across the street, he couldn’t help but fiddle with the book in his hands and his sweaty hands and his unironed shirt and oh my gawd did he forget to comb his hair this morning?!

With a satisfied sigh following, Myungsoo had reached up to check if his hair was prim, proper, and perfect. (It was).

He couldn’t help at those jittery feelings coming through his stomach – he knew they weren’t butterflies, it was probably something close to all his nerves bundling up and attempting to destroy him from the inside out. His hands were sweating like crazy and he couldn’t help that his breathing was just so uneven, but his goal was not to faint, so Myungsoo figured that he was probably doing decently well.

“It’s not that hard,” Myungsoo breathed in. “You’re just meeting the most gorgeous person you’ve ever seen in your life. No biggie. No biggie at all. You can do this. You got this!”

There was a cough from behind him, and Myungsoo turned a bit to see some girls in the corner of the street acknowledging not only his good looks, but the fact that he was giving himself a shaky pep talk.

“Ignore them,” he told himself. “There’s only one thing that should be on your mind right now. You got this, Kim Myungsoo. You got this. You can do this.”

As the light on the other side signaled the right to walk, Myungsoo stepped off the curb and began walking, his hands nervously sweating as they clamped onto each other, his breathing becoming all the more harder until he reached the other side of the road -

                Wait what.

Myungsoo’s eyes widened and a horrified thought struck him when he looked down at his empty hands. The book! The poetry book, he was holding it, it was right there until his hands had gotten all sweaty and –

When he’d looked behind him, it was already too late. The light had turned red and the cars were forcing themselves back and forth, but Myungsoo could still see it. The papers flying everywhere underneath the tires and wheels, the ripped pages already finding a new home.

God dammit. The only piece of Sungyeol that he had with him was gone, torn, thrown under a stampede of cars!

Nevertheless, Myungsoo breathed in and  reminded himself that it was never manly to cry. He could hold his tears in. He had to hold his tears in because now he was going to meet the owner of the book that he’d just wrecked!

With something more of a groan, Myungsoo turned around and kept walking (with sweaty palms still) to the restaurant that was coming into view.

The first thing Myungsoo saw was Sungyeol sitting in the corner of the restaurant, his red blazer folded and hanging on the back of the chair he was seated on. He was now just wearing a plain, navy blue v-neck that showed off the slightest bit of muscles that he had as he stirred he ruffled his hair and stared at the table in front of him.

Without thinking twice about it, Myungsoo kept walking at a steady pace until he reached where Sungyeol was sitting. The restaurant was bustling with peoples – families, couples, and single people all alike – which made Myungsoo rethink once more exactly how he caught Sungyeol in this large crowd.

He’d finally reached the end table, his breathing having gotten quieter as he stood in front of the seat across Sungyeol. Saying nothing, he just waited to see if Sungyeol noticed him.

He didn’t – but it didn’t matter because all Myungsoo could do was stare. Lee Sungyeol wasn’t just gorgeous, he was beautiful. He was the literal definition of Heaven-bound, the perfect human being that Myungsoo would never once again see.

What he didn’t notice until a few moments later was that Sungyeol was talking to himself, muttering beneath his breath as he awkwardly moved a finger along the black restaurant table.

“Should’ve known better than to make a stupid plan,” Sungyeol mumbled, sniffling a bit. “Nobody likes how I act anyway. It’s all looks. It’s all looks, isn’t it? Should’ve known. Anybody would want to go with my looks than my personality…and my looks aren’t even that good. Psh. Personality my . I hope he drowns in a hole.”

The man scowled a bit before shaking his head. “No, Lee Sungyeol, that isn’t nice. You shouldn’t hope people to drown in holes. That’s mean.” Then he sighed, adding, “But Kim Myungsoo should. .”

After hearing his name, Myungsoo cocked an eyebrow and cleared his throat.

“I’ve thought of many ways I could die,” he vocalized, “but drowning in a hole isn’t really one of them.”

“OHMYGAH –“ Sungyeol screeched, holding his chest and his body pushed back a bit, almost causing him to fall off the chair. “Oh. My. ing. Gawd.”

“Did I scare you?” Myungsoo asked, the corners of his mouth turning up a little. His nervousness died down a bit, seeing as Sungyeol was a whole lot more hectic than he was.

He pushed the chair in front of him out, getting him situated and seated. “Yeah, you kinda scared me too when I overheard you planning my death.”

“It was a joke,” Sungyeol exhaled, his breathing going on hard and his eyes wider than anyone Myungsoo had ever seen. “I didn’t expect you to actually show up!”

“Huh, you have less faith in me than I hoped.”

“Well –“ Sungyeol stopped himself, swallowing a bit as he sat up straight. “I didn’t…I mean…I was just a little taken aback when I saw you. I didn’t think you were actually that…attractive. And you know…I didn’t think attractive people like you were into books and poetry and all that…”

“Ditto,” Myungsoo muttered beneath his breath and luckily, Sungyeol didn’t hear him.

“I thought that maybe you were kidding about coming to visit me,” the older man continued, “but…I saw the poetry book. And it was obviously mines – wait. Where’s the poetry book?”

Myungsoo’s eyes fled around the restaurant before he coughed into his elbow, avoiding any eye contact possible with Lee Sungyeol. His sweaty hands were coming back, and he continuously rubbed them on his thighs nervously.

“…Myungsoo?” Sungyeol’s eyes narrowed. “What happened to my – well, yours – no, our poetry book?”

“When you put it that way, it just makes me feel worse,” Myungsoo groaned, looking up from his lap.

“What did you do to it.”

“You see, it’s really windy outside at this time of the year,’ Myungsoo tried, shrugging his shoulders as he hands remained sliding on his thighs, “and, like, cars are really fast and scary. And they run over things really quickly.”

“Myungsoo!” Sungyeol whined, making it feel like they’d known each other for years and were just having another hyung-dongsaeng bicker. “What on earth did you do?!”

“I kinda…dropped it…” Myungsoo immediately turned his head to the right, pointing out the window. “Right there, though! You see all those papers? Yeah, that’s it –“

“I can’t believe you killed it!” Sungyeol cried. “That was our connection! You just killed our connection!”

“Well you were planning on killing me, so – like – killing the book on accident was due to a premonition of what you were gonna do to me!”

                “Well –“

“Are you two ready to order?”

The two of them looked up at the friendly woman, oblivious to the argument going on right before them, dressed in a waitress outfit with a pen and pad in her hands.

Both Myungsoo and Sungyeol were brought up knowing how to respect others and be considerate of them, so they tried their best not to shove her away. Though he didn’t have the menu and had never once set foot in this place, Myungsoo tried his best to order.

“I’ll just have some ramen,” he ordered lamely, knowing that any Korean restaurant in their sane mind would have it. “And, uh, apple juice.”

“I’ll have water,” Sungyeol said right after.

The waitress gave Sungyeol a strange look before saying, “Alright. I’ll be back with your orders soon!”

When the woman walked away, the previous conversation had managed to leave their table and Myungsoo asked the other, “Water? You know that water’s probably free, right?”

“Perfect,” Sungyeol nodded. “Right in my price range.”

When Myungsoo kept silent and the look of uhhhh? stayed on, Sungyeol sighed and finally admitted, “I didn’t…really think anybody was going to show up…so I didn’t bring any money…”

“Oh. Yeah, your faith in me is just spectacular.”

“Well – it’s not really my fault!” Sungyeol protested. “I mean, did you see your face when I walked up to you in the airport? I would’ve bet anything at the moment you would’ve just followed me right then.”

“But I didn’t,” Myungsoo said. “Besides, shouldn’t you be at the age where you bring your wallet around with you anyways? Like…credit cards? Driver’s license?”

“Not really,” Sungyeol shrugged. “My mom thinks credit cards are superficial so she canceled all of mines. And she doesn’t let me drive anymore because I ran over a cat once.”

                “…What?!”

“It’s a long story,” the older shrugged. “But basically I killed a cat with a car, and then my mom revoked my driver’s license.”

“So how do you get around?!”

“My mom drives me,” Sungyeol answered with no embarrassment. “She’s a pretty chill old lady.”

Myungsoo’s eyebrows raised skeptically and he managed to blurt out, “Do you still live with your mom?”

Sungyeol rolled his eyes, shrugging again a bit. “Not really. It’s more that she lives with me. I mean, I was fine on my own but then last year she decided to just come barging into my house and declare that she was going to live with me!”

                “…Why?”

“Because my older sister came back with her eloped husband from Norway,” Sungyeol sighed. “And my mom wanted them to have a house just for the two of them.”

“…You have an older sister? You never mentioned anything about her in your letters.”

“Yeah, because she got eloped in Norway,” Sungyeol replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “Where could I bring that up? ‘Oh yeah, and I just wanted to add on, I also have an older sister. But she ran away from our house to get married in Norway without my mom’s permission. It’s okay, though, because my mom still loves her.’”

                “Well…yeah,” Myungsoo dumbly said back.

“Yeah, no,” Sungyeol said, and to the younger’s surprise, he laughed. “My family isn’t that interesting though, honest. I’m just a 23-year old still living with his mother with a little brother who’s off in boarding school and an older sister that got eloped in Norway. How about you?”

“Um? I have a younger brother? I live separate from my family, though. A few miles away from their house. My parents own a business, though, and one of the reasons I got to come over here was because they built a new branch here in Seoul just a few months back. My excuse to my parents for coming here was to “watch over the business”. If I’m good, though, they’re gonna let me stay here and take over the Seoul branch.”

“Ah, really?” Sungyeol asked with wide, bright eyes. “That’s so cool! I’ve always wanted to date a CEO of some company!”

Instantly, Myungsoo started choking on air and hit his chest with a fist, only able to muster out a, “What?”
“What, what?” the older asked indifferently.

“You just said…” Myungsoo sat up straighter, clearing his throat and wondering when his apple juice was going to come. “I mean…are we dating?”

“Are we not?” Sungyeol tilted his head, raising one eyebrow. “Because I mean, you just destroyed one of my most precious books and I think your compensation would be having to date me.”

Myungsoo managed to laugh, a genuine smile on his face. “Well your mom sold the book, so I think that precious book kind of belonged to me.”

“Look, do you to be my boyfriend or not?” Sungyeol asked after a few minutes, frustrated because he didn’t have a real comeback to Myungsoo’s statement. (The conversation, with Sungyeol had doubted would even happen, had come along much differently in his mind).

                “Oh? But I already was?”

“We both know that that was just a suave way of asking you out,” Sungyeol pouted. “You just made me talk more and when I talk more I end up saying really stupid, awkward things. So it makes me sound stupid. So all this is technically your fault.”

“Uh huh,” Myungsoo laughed, reaching down underneath the table to blindly latch one of his hands onto Sungyeol’s. “Totally.”

“Your hands are really sweaty,” Sungyeol commented, scrunching up his nose when Myungsoo’s hand was perfectly fitted around his. “Oh my gawd, you’re totally nervous, aren’t you?”

The confident smile faded away from Myungsoo’s lips and he unsteadily breathed in, nodding. “Yeahhhhh pretty much.” He wanted to say more, he tried saying more, but nothing would come out of his mouth besides air.

“Well, I guess that’s okay,” Sungyeol shrugged, hand still clutching Myungsoo’s sweaty one. He was eyeing something behind his newfound boyfriend that caused him to add, “As long as you share some of your ramen with me.”

Chapter 50: YESSSSS this story makes me HAPPY !!
I don't know the game! It's an interesting one! One that definitely will make you paranoid of what was being asked about you (if you were called out) .__. Awww poor MyungSoo, but seeing the smirk from SungYeol must have made him even more wondering what was being asked (I agree with SungYeol's answer to that question, damn MyungSoo some nice you have) SungYeol being straightforward by saying he wanted to spend time with MyungSoo, be it in Soo's house or his own house (live across the street wth so great for the future kkk) The straightforward confession, wow SungYeol you are really going for it! I liked it all! Thank you Evie once again, I love your stories!
