For the last few days, EXO had been keeping contact with Mei Li. They hadn't hung out again after the amusement park, but they had conversations on the phone or over the internet.
Mei Li had been working lately, so she always had to reject their offers to hang out in person. Of course, Anne was mad at her for doing so, but their mother wouldn't let Anne hangout with EXO without Mei Li being there. Plus, it might be a little awkward for EXO anyways. Mei Li didn't want them to feel like they had to babysit.
Even right now, Mei Li was at work. Her family hadn't gotten any richer after she left and in Mei Li’s opinion, they were still scraping by, so she wanted to earn as much money as possible. She’d given her mother the leftover money she earned from translating for EXO in China, but she still felt like they needed more.
Dongjun recommended Mei Li to his boss, so now Mei Li had a job at Starbucks. Dongjun only worked there for a few hours just for the heck of it. He actually didn't need to work at all since his family was so rich, so he had an amazing house and car already – he just felt like he should do something at least.
"Dongjun! Tall pumpkin spice latte!" Mei Li hollered as she gave the customer their change.
"Got it!" Dongjun called back as he worked on the order.
Realizing they had run out of dimes, Mei Li turned away from the cash register and started rummaging through the cabinets, looking for the extra money. "Excuse me, miss," a voice said.
"Oh, sorr—" Mei Li stood up and turned around, "Kris?"
"Mei Li?" Kris gaped. “You work here?"
"Haha, yea," Mei Li smiled. "Where are the others?"
He pointed to a table at the corner. "Over there."
The rest of EXO looked at Mei Li from their seats and their eyes widened, realizing it was her. She waved to them and they waved back. The sun was out, making them even more radiant just sitting at the table by the window – Luhan looked like he was glowing.
Mei Li turned her focus back to Kris. "So they all left you to order by yourself?"
"Yep, what do you expect?" he joked.
She laughed, "Good point. Anyways, so what's your order?"
He listed off everything that EXO wanted and paid. "Dongjun! This is a long order so just come over here and read the receipt," she shouted.
"Dongjun?" Kris raised his eyebrow.
Dongjun walked over to her and took the receipt in his hands.
"Hey Dongjun, we meet again," Kris said.
Dongjun stopped reading and looked up. “Oh, hyung! Nice to see you again. And the others?"
"Sitting over there," Kris gestured to EXO’s table.
"Well tell them I said hi," Dongjun smiled.
"Alright, will do," Kris answered and went back to join the others.
"Did you tell them you work here?" Dongjun asked once Kris was gone.
"Nope, just a coincidence," Mei Li replied. “What are the chances, huh? Haha."
His smile turned into a thin straight line, and he didn't laugh at all. "Help me work on the order since there aren't many customers," he said bluntly.
"Okay," Mei Li answered meekly and started making the drinks.
Meanwhile, Luhan couldn’t believe that Mei Li
