Dongjun, Xiumin, and Kris came back from the basement with blankets and towels. Dongjun handed Mei Li a towel to dry her wet hair and he wrapped two blankets around her. Xiumin gave Anne a towel and Kris put two blankets around her.

Oh gosh, she must be squealing on the inside right now. Mei Li looked over to see Anne’s expression and caught her biting her lip to prevent herself from screaming.

"Thanks, Dongjun," Mei Li said.

Dongjun smiled, "No problem."

"Yah, why did you only give her two? You should get her another one, she's freezing!" Luhan cut in rudely.

Mei Li looked at him in disbelief, "Luhan..."

Dongjun glared at him, but thankfully before they could fight, Ayi, Lay, and Chen came back with hot tea. Chen gave a cup to Anne, Lay put the teapot on the coffee table, and Ayi handed Mei Li another cup.

"Thank you.”

"Any time!" she smiled and added, "Do you want to eat anything?"

"No no, that's okay," Mei Li replied.

"How about you, Anne?" Ayi turned to her.

Anne smiled, "I'm fine, thanks."

"We're sorry to bother you like this," Mei Li’s mother apologized to her.

"Nonsense! I like having these girls over," Ayi smiled kindly, "and I'm sure the boys do as well."

"Can we come over tomorrow then?" Anne asked with hopeful eyes.

"Anne!"

Ayi laughed, "You may come here whenever you like."

"After your cold goes away," their mother added.

"But I'm not—achoo!" Anne sneezed.

Everyone laughed as she sniffled. "Fineeeee," she grumbled.

"You have school tomorrow anyways, Anne," Mei Li added.

"Oh yea," she pouted.

They all sat around the living room talking for the next hour, and Mei Li noticed that mom and Ayi got along really well – as if they were sisters.

Despite the height difference, they acted like twins. It was kind of freaky, but Mei Li was happy that her mother made a new friend.

After a while, their mother decided it was time to go home. It wasn't that late out, but it was best for Anne to go home and rest since she was getting sleepy. Dongjun decided to leave as well, since he'd probably feel awkward to be alone with EXO without Mei Li. They bid goodbye to Ayi and EXO and went out the door.

Mei Li suddenly remembered something. "Mom, you can take Anne home first. I'm going to go buy the groceries Ayi wanted. I still have her $20 and membership card."

"Are you sure about that, sweetie? Aren't you feeling sick?" she asked.

Mei Li sniffled, "No big deal. It won't take long anyways."

"But you're going to get worse if you walk out in the cold again," she persisted.

"I'll take her," Dongjun cut in, "my car's right there."

Mom hesitated a bit, but gave in. "Alright. Take care of her, Dongjun! I'm counting on you."

"Don't worry, I will," Dongjun smiled.

They waved goodbye and got into Dongjun's car to go to Costco once more.

While putting all the things on Ayi's list into the cart, they passed by the cupcake sample stand again. "Hey! It's you again!" the lady said. “Where's your boyfriend?" She eyed Dongjun beside, noticing it was a different man.

Oh great. Now she's going to think I'm a two-timer. When actually, neither of them are my boyfriend.

"Boyfriend?" Dongjun raised his eyebrow at Mei Li.

The lady coughed, "Oh...well this is awkward..."

Mei Li’s eyes widened, "No no! You've got it all wrong! That wasn't my boyfriend and neither is he."

She sighed in relief, "Oh! Haha, well you two were so cute earlier!" She winked and added, "I think he likes you."

Dongjun looked at Mei Li suspiciously, so she decided to get away from the lady. "Haha, thank you. Now if you don't mind, we're kind of in a hurry. Bye!"

Once they were far away from her, Dongjun stopped in his tracks. "So...boyfriend, huh?"

Mei Li sighed, "It's nothing. She just misunderstood."

"But there shouldn't be a reason for her to misunderstand in the first place..." Dongjun took a deep breath. "Mei Li, you're not taking him back are you?"

"No no, it's not like that."

"After all he's done to hurt you, you're acting lovey-dovey with him?"

"We didn't act lovey-dovey! And it's not his fault..."

Dongjun scoffed, "You're defending him now?"

"No! But you shouldn't say things you don't know!" Mei Li raised her voice.

"But I know you! I've known you since forever! I still remember the first day we met!"

Nine year-old Mei Li was playing in the soccer field with her friends at recess. "Victoria! Over here!" Mei Li shouted, waving her arms around.

Victoria nodded and kicked the ball, but guess she didn't know her own strength. The ball was aimed accurately, but it flew straight over Mei Li's head. The other girls laughed. "Out of bounds!" one exclaimed.

Mei Li laughed. "Haha, it's okay, Victoria." She jogged over to get the ball.

Suddenly, it started raining. It started off as a light drizzle, but within seconds, it was pouring. "Ahhh! Hurry, let's get inside!" Victoria yelled, running towards the school.

The other girls followed her, covering their heads with their hands, trying to shield their hair from the rain. Boy, when their hair was on the line, they suddenly had the energy to run for miles.

Mei Li on the other hand, cared more about the soccer ball than her hair. "Stupid rain!" she exclaimed. She ran towards the ball so she could quickly get it and go inside, but her foot slipped on the wet grass. "Ah!"
