I actually did it. I left.
***flashback***
Mei Li woke up in the middle of the night from her phone's extra quiet alarm that she had placed under her pillow so only she could hear it. She had slept in jeans and a v-neck so she didn't need to change. She quietly crept out of bed and put on her cardigan.
Earlier after the photoshoot, they had been free to do whatever they wanted. Everyone decided to have dinner together, but Mei Li told them she wasn't feeling well. Tao offered to stay at the hotel with her, but she insisted he didn't. She was surprised that the others couldn’t tell she was lying, but maybe they just didn’t care.
Instead, she asked one of the stylists to stay with her – the one who sat next to her on the plane, and the one she talked to the most. The stylists instantly knew something was up with Mei Li’s request, so she agreed.
Once the two were separated from the others, Mei Li explained her situation and plan to leave.
The stylist had tried to convince her out of it, but Mei Li was firm with her decision after thinking it over a million times prior to telling her.
The stylist gave in and agreed to help. Mei Li bought an airplane ticket for an earlier flight back to Korea, and then another ticket from Korea to Canada. She packed most of her things and put them in the car the stylist would use to drive her to the airport. Luhan wouldn't even notice that most of Mei Li’s things were missing.
And now, it was time.
Mei Li shoved the last of her belongings that she had left on the counter as to not be suspicious, into her carry-on bag. She placed the sketch of Luhan she'd drawn while they were out eating onto her pillow. She tiptoed over to him.
He was still sound asleep.
She leaned over to get a closer, final look of his face. Perfect as always.
He shifted around in his sleep, but never woke up.
That couch must be really uncomfortable. Confident that he wouldn't awaken, she ran her fingers across the delicate features of his angelic face – his eyebrows, the bridge of his tall nose, and lastly, his cute, pouty lips.
She frowned, realizing she'd never get to see his face in person ever again. She knew she’d regret it, but it really was for the best. She felt unwanted and abandoned around him. He moved on and she had to accept that she was just clinging onto him annoyingly.
Her eyes started to get watery, so she knew she had to leave before she broke down. She leaned down and gently kissed his cheek for the last time. He moved around a little, causing her to have a tiny panic attack, thinking he'd wake up. But thankfully, he stopped and smiled in his sleep.
Wow, it's as if you know I'm leaving you and you're happy about it. She sighed and made her way over to the door.
“Take care, oppa,” she whispered with one, final glance before leaving.
