The doctor didn't seem to mind and calmly spoke. "He's fine."

Mei Li heaved a sigh of relief and the others started to crowd around. Luhan put his arm around her and squeezed her shoulder. "See, told you so," he whispered, but he had been equally worried, if not more.

"Can we see him now?" Anne asked, biting her lip.

"Yes, but you can't all go in at once," the doctor replied, noticing how many people were waiting for him in the hall.

"You guys go in first," Mei Li told Luhan and the rest of EXO-M.

Lay, Chen, and Xiumin nodded and eagerly went in. Luhan and Kris stayed back.

"You sure you don't want to go in right now?" Luhan asked Mei Li.

"You guys are like family to him," Mei Li replied. "I'll let you guys talk to him first while I wait with Anne."

He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze and proceeded into the room.

Jessica had woken up and she was standing by the side with Kris's arm around her waist. "I'll be back in a second, okay?" he told her, his tone unusually gentle.

She smiled weakly and nodded. "Go."

Mei Li went over to Jessica. "You alright, unnie?"

Jessica sighed. "Yea, thank goodness he's okay."

Mei Li nodded in agreement and the rest of them waited in the hall. They only waited for ten minutes, but it felt like an hour.

"Hyungs!" Tao chirped.

Surprisingly, his facial expression was still bright, not weak like Luhan had expected it to be.

"Yah, you scared the life out of me, maknae!" Xiumin scolded him.

The latter just stuck his tongue out in return.

"Next time, warn us before you do anything stupid," Kris sighed, running his hand through his hair in both relief and frustration.

"What was I supposed to do? Let Luhan hyung get hurt?" Tao countered.

Luhan nodded. "Yes. That stab was meant for me, not you."

"If it was meant for Mei Li, you would've done the same thing," Tao noted.

"Are you implying that you're in love with Luhan hyung?" Lay teased.

"What?" Tao shrieked. "Ew!"

They all chuckled, relieved that their dear maknae was fine.

"It was just an impulse, okay?" Tao stated. "If you had gotten hurt, Mei Li probably would've had a heart attack and die."

"Psh," Luhan smirked. "So in the end, you did it for Mei Li, not me."

Tao smiled slyly. "Where is noona? Is she here?"

Chen nodded. "So are both Ayis and Anne's friends as well."

"Anne's here?" Tao gaped.

Lay nodded. "And Jessica noona too. She cried a lot so don't be mean to her."

"We'll go get them," Xiumin suggested, pulling Lay and Chen with him.

Xiumin, Lay, and Chen suddenly went out of the room. "You guys can go in now," Xiumin told the others that were waiting outside.

"We'll go find your mom and Ayi," Chen said before heading off with Xiumin and Lay.

Anne and Jessica went inside, but Mei Li stayed back when she noticed Anne's friends weren't moving. "You guys can come in too," she told them.

They shifted around awkwardly, but followed her in.

Mei Li walked in slowly, still feeling nervous and scared even though they said Tao was fine. Anne's friends joined her side and Luhan went over to take Mei Li’s hand, pulling her over to the bed where Tao was.

Once Tao saw her, he beamed. "Noona!"

Mei Li smiled, standing by the edge of the bed with Luhan's arm around her waist. "Feeling better, Tao?"

Tao nodded. "I did well, didn't I?"

"Did well? At what?" Mei Li asked, confused.

"Saving Luhan hyung!" Tao gestured to Luhan.

"Did well? You nearly scared me to death!" Mei Li blurted. "Never do that again."

"Are you saying you'd rather see Luhan lying here right now?" Tao teased.

The others laughed. "Well, no...but..." Mei Li didn't know what to say.

Tao just chuckled. "It's okay, noona." He added, "You and hyung must buy me a lot of ice cream from now on!"
