Stuck In The Middle
Unspoken WordsHara’s POV
With the last 10 minutes that I had left, I picked up my speed and ran all the way from the school’s gymnasium towards the function hall.
I have to make it. Jong Hun would kill me if I didn’t turn up.
Just as I was about to give up, I saw the hall’s door just up ahead of me.
With all my might, I pushed open the heavy door and silence greeted me. Well, it wasn’t exactly silent. Jong Hun’s beautiful and soothing piano piece could be heard loud and clear.
I heaved a huge sigh of relief. At least I was still in time to see him playing the last few notes.
I crept up towards the nearest seat and settled down; my eyes still glued on him.
The way Jong Hun plays the piano still amazes me every single time. His light fingers hitting the perfect notes; producing wonderful music. I could sit there for hours and still never get bored.
As soon as he hit the final note, the audience burst into a round of applause. But no one could be more proud of him than I was. He had practiced so hard for this special day; he deserves the standing ovation he was getting.
He bowed down at the audience before making his way down towards where I was sitting.
I pulled him into a hug excitedly.
“I thought you were not going to show up.”
“I know. I’m so sorry. Min Ho’s basketball game ended later than I thought it would,” I explained as we pulled apart.
“I understand,” he smiled. “So did he win?”
“You know he has never lost a game before.”
Jong Hun nodded in agreement.
“This calls for a double celebration, don’t you think so?” I asked.
“I don’t know. I was really nervous just now. And neither you nor Min Ho was here. I didn’t know if I sounded good enough just now.”
I slung my arm across his shoulder.
“You’re the most amazing pianist I’ve ever met. Don’t ever doubt your talents okay?”
He gave me a thankful grin.
“That means a lot to me.”
“I know. You always need me,” I said jokingly, ruffling his hair.
Just then the door opened and Min Ho walked in, all changed out from his basketball outfit.
“Hey. Did I miss the whole thing?”
“You are late by 2 minutes,” I told him.
“Oh man. I’m so sorry. I thought I could make it,” he said apologetically to Jong Hun.
“It’s okay. It just though, to have both our timings clashed.”
“Yes. Especially for me. I have to rush to both places,” I complained.
Both of them laugh amusingly at me and they each pinched my cheeks.
“Aigoo. Hara’s mad at us. What should we do Min Ho?”
“I think she’ll like a pizza treat. Won’t you Hara?”
I couldn’t help but laugh along.
“You guys know me best. Let’s go!”
Sorry if it's a bit boring. Well, every story has to have a beginning right? :))
