Even If You Already Have Another Love

Unspoken Words

Min Hwan’s POV

I stood there still as he brushed past me briskly. The dark look in his eyes was clear, he didn’t know me but he’s already declared us as enemies.

There’s something more to him than just a passing by friend; but Seung Yeon’s reaction still remain neutral. She may not notice it, but he has this look of longing in his eyes when he stares at her. He’s trying to make her understand something.

And I’m going to figure out what that ‘something’ is.

“Well, shall we go now?” I held out my arm towards Seung Yeon.

She gave me a bashful smile as she locked her hand with mine.

“Seung Yeon, who was that guy just now?” I couldn’t help but ask.

Her eyebrows burrowed in confusion.

“I’m not so sure. He told me he’s an old friend, from high school. But I can’t seem to remember him.”

“I thought you’ve regained most of your memory back?”

“I don’t know,” she shook her head. “I don’t remember knowing him. Can we don’t talk about this anymore please?”

Seung Yeon looked really uncomfortable by my questions so I decided to keep my mouth shut. Obviously I wasn’t going to get any much information from her.

Jin Ki’s POV

I rummaged through my things, sending all kinds of stuffs flying over across my room as I was doing so. I’m trying to find something significant to show Seung Yeon; something which would help her remember me.

There is no way I was going to let her forget me so easily.

My hand felt for a book at the bottom of the box which I had kept some of my important stuffs. I pulled it out slowly.

Only, it wasn’t a book; but a photo album.

I fell back to the floor and sat cross-legged with the album flipped open in front of me. My fingers traced over Seung Yeon’s neat cursive handwriting unconsciously.

Memories of Us

All of our beautiful moments are captured here. Saranghae-yo!

I turned over to the next page.

I saw a slightly younger version of me wrapping my arms around a cute looking Seung Yeon who had a bright smile on her face as we took our first ever picture together.

The next picture showed Seung Yeon cupping her hands around my neck as she planted a kiss on my left cheek. Even though it wasn’t so obvious, I knew I was blushing slightly in the picture. She had caught me totally off guard.

But they say candid pictures are the best after all. You can’t fake your emotions. And I know our smiles weren’t faked.

We were so happy back then. Why did things have to change so suddenly?

I searched through the box again and found a couple of videos. Being curious, I switched on my laptop and popped the CD into it.

“What if I fall later? You know I cannot do this,” a worried looking Seung Yeon was staring helplessly at me.

“Don’t worry. I’m here to guide you. I won’t let you fall okay?” I assured her from behind the camera.

She began to step on the pedals of the bicycle cautiously.

“I think I can get through this!” she shouted happily back at me as she cycled halfway.

Back in present life, I chuckled to myself. I know what was coming next.

“Argh! Jin Ki, help me!” she yelped as she couldn’t step on the brakes in time and fell down.

The camera shook as I ran towards her aid. I set it aside and saw myself crouching down beside her.

“Yah. You were too excited. You shouldn’t have cycled too fast.”

“Eh? Now it’s my fault?” Seung Yeon looked at me crossly. “See. Now I have a cut on my leg and hand.”

“Don’t tell me you’re going to cry?” I .

Her eyes were watery but she was stubborn enough to let them show.

“It’s okay. I’ll get back up by myself,” she said as she pushed me away.

“Anyo. You know I was just joking. Come, I’ll help you,” I told her as I held on tightly to her arm and pulled her up carefully.

“We’ll wash up your wounds first then we’ll get something to eat okay?” I said as I took back the camera from the ground.

The video ended there.

I clicked on the next video on the list.

“Jin Ki-ah!” Seung Yeon’s cheerful smile filled my screen. “Um, I’m really nervous about this since it’s my first time playing it out for you. But I hope, you’ll enjoy it okay?”

She settled herself down on the piano seat and placed her fingers on the keys.

I watched her closely as she closed her eyes and started to play her own composition.

Sweet melody started to fill my ears and I felt myself being lost in my own world temporarily; picturing Seung Yeon sitting there beside me in the same room.

She has always been nervous about letting others hear her play the instrument; I was honoured to be given a chance. I must have meant a lot to her.

“So, did you like it?” she grinned shyly into the camera. “I made this specially for you; for your birthday. I hope you enjoyed it. Jin Ki-ah, happy birthday to you! May you lead a healthy life and be happy always. I’ll always be here with you. Saranghae!”

I’ll always be here with you...

Min Hwan’s POV

I stared at her while she wrote her name on the sand. The breezy wind was blowing in her face, making her look even more naturally beautiful. She had a grim expression on her face, determined to write her name perfectly even though she knows the water will just wash it away.

She gripped the tree branch tightly as she made sharp to her letters. I couldn’t help but chuckle at her determination. That was one of the many things I love about her though; she doesn’t know how to give up easily.

“Seung Yeon,” I broke the silence between us. “You know you can stop now.”

She glanced up at me for a moment before focusing back on her work.

“What’s the rush? It’s a nice weather to be out anyway right?”

“Nay,” I agreed. “But I have something to ask you.”

“What is it?” she murmured.

“Do you love me?”

That made her stopped. Her hand froze halfway as she looked up at me slowly.

“Why...Did you ask me that?”

I shrugged.

“I just want to know I guess. I’ve never asked about it.”

“Why ask now then? It’s not necessary right?”

“Can’t you just give me a yes or a no?”

“I’m feeling tired suddenly,” she said as her eyes darted away from mine. “Can we go home now?”

I studied her carefully.

I had a feeling, if I had asked her the same question one day earlier; she would have given me the answer I wanted to hear.

I did indeed get pats the prologue, but I don't know much about FTIsland (accept SeungHyun - from maknae rebellion lol) which is why it took me a while to read. But I liked it! And I liked your sad endings! I'm glad there's a sequel. =)
