The Deal
Capturing His HeartThe room jerked. And by that I mean as soon as Jessica strutted into the room, all the boys sat up straighter and spoke louder to one another. God. They're such boys.
I lift my head back up so that it was no longer resting upon Chansung's shoulder. He looks at me in confusion, widening his eyes a little more and parting his lips a little.
"Sorry, I'm just really tired," I try to explain.
"It's fine, you can sleep on my shoulder if you want to."
"Don't worry about it; it's getting late and you guys are going to have to go back to your dorm soon to check in and go to bed. I can wait a little longer," I speedily replied. I don't think I took a single breath in that sentence. "And plus--"
"Hey, your name's Tiffany, right?" a light nasally voice suddenly cuts me off.
I turn towards her, "yeah, and you're Jessica, right?"
"Mmhmm. Do you think I could borrow him for a second?"
"Oh.. Chansung?" I said reluctantly.
"Yeah, just for a second. We'll be back very soon!"
"Err, yeah I mean, it's not up to me. It's not like I own him." I wish I owned him.
She giggles and grabs his arm as he stands up. "Thanks!"
Without even giving me another glance, he leaves the room... with her. I can't help but to feel a little bit jealous and sad. You know when a sinking feeling forms in your heart? Yeah. That's it.
I turn around so that I was kneeling on the couch seat to face the people sitting behind me. Taecyeon and I exchange glances of lost hope--
"Wait. Why do you look so sad? It's definitely not because you feel bad for me, is it?" I questioined
"No. It's because I think she's really pretty."
"Is that all that you guys care about? That she's skinny and pretty?"
"Well... I mean..."
"Well.. I mean, you're totally superficial." I snapped, almost too viciously.
"Tiffany, I know you're not too happy right now, but neither am I. I don't even know how to talk to girls."
"What am I???"
"You're.... different."
Greaaattttt.. Another one who can't see me as more than a little sister. Suddenly filled with uneasiness I force words out: "Different? How?"
"I don't know.. you're easier to talk to?"
"Is that a question?"
"Can we make a deal?"
"Depends on what it is."
"You help me with Jessica; and I'll help you with Chansung... Deal?"
"And if it doesn't work out? As in.. one person gets with their crush and the other doesn't?"
"Then that's just life.".... That's just life... what a great cliché.
"I mean... I guess..."
"We'll just both have to put our all in it. Rules... uhh... rules.. well I guess there's only one: we cannot completely depend on the other person to make everything magically work out."
"Deal."
"wait... that easily?"
"Yeah. You want to be with Jessica, right?"
"Right..."
"And I really like Chansung."
"Right."
"So we'll just have to give it a try."
He gave a sullen smile. I could tell that he was still feeling a little uneasy, but trying won't hurt anyone, right?
I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out!
