Fast forward to the summer before my junior year. Taecyeon, Jay and Chansung are going to be seniors. Khun, Wooyoung, Junsu and Junho are also going to be Juniors. 

Taec and I are still going strong.

He offered to let me stay at his house for the first half of the summer, but I knew that my parents wouldn't have liked that idea, so I politely declined, though I really wanted to go. He said that he honestly wished that he and I could somehow spend the summer together since it was a time when we didn't have anything else besides each other to worry about. I was actually really disappointed. He assured me, however, that we'd skype every night.

But then, a week after we let out from school, he went MIA. I couldn't find him. I tried contacting Jay to see if he knew where Taecyeon went. I didn't want to seem like a clingy girlfriend, but I was honestly worried.

To take my mind off of Taecyeon, I went shopping with my "friends" from my old school. While I was out, I bought a little stuffed animal cat. It reminded me of Taec because he'd always doodle cats on my history notes when he'd "help me study". By five o'clock, though, I was ready to ditch them and go home to wait for him to get online, so that was exactly what I did.

I slowly walked home, since for once, the weather wasn't super sticky and gross.

When I finally reached the lobby of the apartment building, I saw him. At first I thought I was just going insane, but then I realized... it really was him. His dorky smile and his charming gaze.

I ran and jumped on him, wrapping my legs around his waist in mid-air. I showered him with kisses. 

"Surprise!" He kissed me on the lips as people gathered around us to watch.

I was speechless. I was so happy that my mind just went blank.

When he finally put me down, I dragged him out to the fountain outside.

He sat down first, pulling me down onto his lap. I sat facing him, with my legs wrapped around his waist, kissing him again and again to prove to myself that I wasn't just dreaming.

"Woah, there. I'm not going anywhere," He chuckled as he swept my hair out of my face and gently put it behind my ear.

"I know. I just... feel like this is all a dream, and I'm going to wake up in a few seconds."

He kissed me.

"Ah! I have something for you." I reached into the shopping bag that I got today and pulled out the cat.

He laughed.

"It reminded me of you, so I bought it for you," I eye-smiled at him.

He hugged me as I shifted over to sit on the rim of the fountain next to him. He placed the cat back in the bag and placed it beside him. Out of nowhere, he splashed me with water playfully, quickly getting up, knowing that I'd kill him for what he just did.

"Taec!!" I got up as well and jumped on him, tackling him to the floor. I was lying on top of him on the cement pavement

He rolled over so that now I was under him. He laughed maniacally and leaned down making beastly noises, pretending to eat me. I covered my face.

"Tiffany, who is this?" I heard my mom's voice.

Taecyeon quickly jumped back, off of me.

"Uh... This is Taecyeon... a friend from school," I said as Taecyeon helped me up and brushed the dirt off of my clothes. "Taec, this is my mom," I introduced him.

He walked towards her to shake her hand, but she ignored him. I swallowed nervously.

"It's nice to meet you Mrs. Wang," He shook off the awkwardness.

"Don't come home too late, Tiffany," She said somewhat coldly.

I nodded as she turned around to walk away.

"Sorry about that," I whispered to him when she was far away, "She's not usually like that. I guess.... she just has this thing against males."

"What does that even mean?"

"Well.... She and my dad aren't on good terms. It's a long story, but..."

"Tell me."

I blinked.

"If it'll make you feel better."

"Well... my dad married her for some personal gain... and... he's cheated on her countless times.. so I mean.. you can't blame her for not liking men."

"You're dad isn't very smart is he?" Taecyeon took my hands.

I shook my head.

"So..."

"So she doesn't like it when I get really close to a guy because she's scared that the same thing will happen to me," I sighed.

"I would never--"

"I know, Taec. But she doesn't," I kissed him on the cheek.

We stood there silently in each others' arms. 

"So where are you staying slash how long are you staying?" I asked.

"I'm staying for two weeks with my parents at that hotel... agh. I don't know the name... It's literally down that hill," He pointed at the gate that led down to the city.

"Only two?"

"Yeah, sorry, Tiff. I'm going to be a Senior next year and I really need to visit colleges and start my apps."

I made a face.

He my hair, "Let's make the most out of these two weeks, then. Oh... and my mom told me to invite you and your family out to dinner for the night after tomorrow night."

"What?"

"Yeah, it'll be fun, just say yes."

"Taec..."

"Hmm?" He looked into my eyes

"My mom's going to think that this is something super serious."

"Isn't it?" He ran his fingers through my hair.

"Yeah, it is, but--"

"Are we not?"

"Taec, that's not what I meant."

He let go of my hands.

"Wait. Taec. That's really not what I meant. I meant that my mom's not going to take it well."

"We'll fix that."

"What?"

"I'll prove to her that I'm never going to treat you badly." He took my hands again and kissed them.

"You really mean it, don't you..."

"Hmm?"

"I mean... you're always saying that you'll take care of me and that--"

"You didn't believe me?"

"I don't believe in love."

"But... you've already told me that you loved me back."

My heart dropped.

"Did that not mean anything?"

"No, Taec. It did. I just... never believed that someone could have feelings for someone for the rest of their lives. I mean... I always thought that "forever" was just a conditional thing. I have no problem with keeping to my word when I say that I'll always love someone... but, I just never thought it possible for someone else to have that same--"

He chuckled, "Now you're just blabbering..."

"Taec, wait. I really do love you. As a matter of fact, I'm crazy about you."

He pulled me down onto his lap as he sat down on the rim of the fountain again, smiling. "I know. I love you too." He kissed me with one hand placed on my face.

"Dinner's going to be awful, though. I really want your parents to meet my family, but I just..."

"Hey. You trust us, right? My mom's great with awfully awkward situations. Stop worrying."

I looked down at my watch and was shocked to see that it was already 6:30PM.

"Holy crap, Taec. I have to go before my mom kills me for staying out for so long." I quickly stood up.

"So you'll ask your mom?"

I nodded. 

He took my arm and linked his with it, guiding me towards the lobby again.

When we got to the elevators, I kissed him once more. We exchanged numbers before I got into the elevator. I was nervous. I didn't know how I'd ask my mom without making her ask me how serious I was about Taecyeon.

I entered my mom's study with the purpose of asking her about having dinner with the Oks, but before I could even bring up the idea, she immediately asked me, "How serious are you about that boy?"

"Taecyeon?" I couldn't help but smile at his name.

"Yes, him."

"Uhh... Well.." I swallowed.

"You know what could happen. What actually has a really high likelihood of happening.."

"I know. But I really feel like he really means it when he tells me that I'm special."

She looked at me with skepticism.

"And I know that that sounds completely terribly... cliche.... but, he's really genuine. I want you to see that too... His family invited us to dinner for the night after tomorrow night."

"What?"

"Yeah. His mom and dad are here too and they want to meet you guys."

"Tiffany, I need to remind you that you're only in High School. It's not like you're planning on marrying this guy."

"I know, mom. But you never know what the future has in store for us."

She sighed. "I don't want you to end up in my position."

I nodded "I know. I know all the risks, but I'm willing to take them if it's him."

"You just sound so sure about all this, and it seems like you're diving head first blindfolded."

"The blindfold is off. Head-first, yes... but blindfold.. no."

"I guess we could have dinner with them. I'll get a better sense of him and his family."

I nodded.

"Go get dinner. It's waiting for you in the dining room."

I guess I'll be having dinner by myself again. Whatever, it's nothing new. I'm just glad that she's willing to give Taec a chance.
