Chapter 34: It hurts

The next few days, she woke up much earlier than the other members of the household so that she could avoid meeting her parents. She would drive to work in her father’s old car and would reach by 7.30 am but there was no one in the office. She still received stares from her colleagues but she tried to ignore most of them. Some days she would arrive at work in Ji Eun’s designer clothings, arousing suspicions among them. But she didn’t have a choice, all her clothes have miraculously disappeared one by one and she suspected her sister was behind it as she was always complaining about how old her clothes were. Of course, she didn’t dare step foot in her room again, afraid that her mother would be upset about it. After she got off from work, she made it a point to visit her grandfather and after a few days, their relationship had improved. At least, she didn’t feel awkward with him anymore.
Today was no different, she got into her father’s car and drove off. Halfway through the journey, the car started to slow down. She kept her foot on the accelerator but it was still not moving. “Damn it!” she said, the car finally broke down. With much effort, she moved the car to the side of the road. She looked around helplessly, trying to ask for help but no one bothered to slow down. She scrolled through her phone, looking for someone to call when she heard the sound of the car horn. She turned around and found a Rolls-Royce approaching her.
The window on the backseat winded down and she saw who it was. “Do you need any help?” the man asked.
“ne…neh” she said nervously.
He opened the door and said “Why don’t you get in first, I’ll get someone to fix it for you”
“Th…thank you” she bowed to him and got in.
He played around with his phone for a minute before he said to the chauffeur “Go”
