Lesson Three

Interludium

Near the academy was a small Chinese restaurant, which was small but  familiar, homely and easily furnished. Lots of students and teachers used to visit the restaurant in their lunch break. The owner of the restaurant was also the chef and the waiter. It was an one-man-business. At the back of the restaurant in a small corner were some stairs, which were leading to the second floor, where the restaurant's owner was living with his family. His family was small, it was just him and his son.
The son stormed down the stairs, so that only a loud rumbling was hearable until the boy appeared in the restaurant, where his father was in the kitchen, preparing some dishes for the guests. "Dad, why didn't you wake me up?!", the boy said. He was in a rush, because he thought that he had overslept and was late for school. "You know, if I fail this 1 o'clock class that I'll have to repeat it."
"Yoongi!", the father interrupted his son with an strict, angrily voice and kept cooking without looking at his son, "You! Doing this every day at your age!" Then he turned to his Yoongi and smiled lovely at him. "Look at the clock carefully. It's still lunch time! You, hasty boy." Yoongi smiled and rubbed his nape embarrassed. "School is only five minutes away, right?", his father kept talking while cooking, "I just wanted to let you sleep until 10 minutes before class."
"Ah, thanks, dad", Yoongi spoke happily and was about to go upstairs again. But he heard a guest, who was praising his father's boiled vegetables loudly. "Right?!", the boy almost shouted and walked over to the guest, who looked a bit strange, "Finally, a customer who has taste!" Yoongi sat down on the opposite seat of the table the stranger was sitting and eating his lunch. "Mister, order whatever you like! Ramyun, curry, oden. Everything my dad makes is awesome! Especially the soaked seaweed."
The man observed Yoongi carefully. His eyes glanced out of the shadow, which the hat was throwing on his face. He looked strange and bit scary. He wore a thick fur coat and a glittering vest under it. For Yoongi the stranger looked really weird. "You are a music academy student?", the man asked curiously and Yoongi nodded confused. The boy didn't know what he was expecting, he just knew that he didn't expect the man to show him around at his school. But Yoongi was well raised by his father, so that he agreed to  accompany the stranger to his school.
When they arrived there, they were walking over the areaway, where like always lots of students were sitting for practice and hanging around with friends. Yoongi didn't understand why the stranger was so interested in his school. "Mister, you sure are weird", Yoongi talked, while walking next to the man, "This place is pretty boring. A-Group, 'Choi mubuchae', it's so stupid. Everyone is so wrapped up in only boring music." Yoongi kept walking, while he was totally lost in his speech. "The whole world is overflowing with music. Jazz, pop, rock and hip hop!" The boy turned around to face the man, but he suddenly disappeared.

In a practicing room were a group of five people training their dance. They had a test soon and therefore they needed to by in synch, but one of them had problems with staying in tune. "Look, who's behing again", one boy said and Hoseok looked down, because he knew it was only him, who had troubles following the steps correctly. He apologized with a bow and the other members started to practice from the same spot again. Hoseok felt bad, because he was sure that the background dancer group was said to be bad because of him.
Also Yoongi was practicing, this time he practiced alone. He was interested lots in modern music and modern dancing styles, but at his school they prepared classical music and dances, which annoyed him a lot. He wished the people would be more open minded like him. "Yeah.. its all about hip hop", he talked to himself and noticed a shadow at the door's window, "Who is it?" Yoongi rushed outside the practicing room, but there was nobody around. "Huh? Maybe one of my fans?"
In a small room a tall boy with blonde hair was practicing some dance steps. He was often spinning around and tried to increase the tempo. He became faster and faster until he felt dizzy and for him it looked like the walls were coming closer. "Argh, I can't stand it anymore", he babbled to himself and made another spin, "Such a tiny practicing room!" Suddenly he started screaming and his head felt like a bobblehead. He ran outside the room and at the hallway he looked around first, before he ran down the hallway in his flashy outfit. He ran through the whole room until he reached the courtyard, where lots of trees were around, and stopped at a tree, leaning against it.
"Namjoon oppa?", one girl asked confused, who was with some other students.
"Could it be that someone was spying on Namjoon oppa, too?", the other girl mentioned.
"Eh?", Namjoon listened up and turned around to the small group of students, "No... I'm just... I've got a bit claustrophobic in my practicing room after spinning around too much."
"Really? But please be careful", one of the girls said, "It seems that there's a strange man walking around. He seems to stalk some students."
"What?", the tall, blonde man exclaimed and quickly walked over to the other students, "Could he be stalking Taehyungie?"
One of the students laughed about Namjoon's question. "No, no. Isn't that you, who's stalking him?"
Namjoon hit the boy's chest angrily. "I'm not a stalker!" But when he started thinking about Taehyung, he smiled again. "Its just...", the tall boy turned shyly away, causing the others to give Namjoon an irritated look, because from his looks Namjoon, looks tough and they didn't expect to see him like a lovey-dovey school girl, "For the last four years, I've just been staring at Taehyungie every day.

As usual Taehyung wore his black, skinny pants, which he combined with a white button-up shirt, but this time he had added a grey, elegant and classical vest. He entered the practicing room, which was reserved for Dong Yongbae's double lesson. The room was still unused, so that the pianos were still covered up. Taehyung prepared everything for the lesson to start, as he noticed a book, which laid on top of the piano, which Jungkook was playing.
He took the book and opened it at the spot where a bookmark was. There was a big drawing on one page and on the other side was a new topic starting. "Sonata for two pianos...", he read out loud and looked over the text, "A cheerful piece meant to be played in a salon, it was composed in the early half of the 18th century, so that the composer could play it with a friend's talented daughter. That's the only two piano piece he composed in his lifetime." Taehyung sighed and put the book aside. "Dong seonsaengnim sure is mean. There are other standard pieces that are easier to play...", he thought, "I said it would only take three days but this will be hard." He laid the book back on the piano, making sure that the bookmark was on the exact site like before.
Taehyung sat down in front of the piano, which he was playing. He looked on his arm watch. The lesson started five minutes ago already. The kid was late and Taehyung didn't like that. Suddenly he heard the door, which was opening, so that he turned around. "You're late!", he shouted but he fell silent quickly, when he saw that it wasn't Jungkook but his teacher who entered the room.
Yongbae laughed and Taehyung gave his teacher an embarrassed nod. "As expected, Jungkook-ssi isn't here yet?", Yongbae said and closed the door behind him, "He's hardly ever on time."
"That's terrible", Taehyung sighed, "This is class, isn't it?"
"Well, I'm late sometimes too. It's sort of a give and take. Why don't you get some tea or something?", Yongbae talked and sat down on the chair behind Taehyung, who turned around to him, giving his teacher a confused glance. But Yongbae just smiled like he always did. Taehyung turned back and for a second he thought about if he should wait or not, but he wasn't the type of guy who waited for anything or anyone, especially not for the garbage boy. He stood up, took his case and left the room, leaving his teacher behind, who was just looking after him.

When Jungkook came, Taehyung was gone and Yongbae was alone in their practice room. They waited a bit more for the older student, but he didn't came. "Taehyung seonbae is very late", Jungkook pouted sadly.
"That's true", Yongbae admitted and patted his student's shoulder, who looked sad, "Let's start without him." Jungkook sighed loudly and nodded. They practiced without Taehyung, who didn't return for the whole lesson.
When the lesson ended Jungkook practiced a bit more by himself, but soon his stomach was growling. He was hungry. He decided to go home and on his way, he wanted to buy something for dinner. He was prancing down the stairs and over the areaway, while singing around. "What shall I have for dinner... dum di dum~"
Suddenly Jungkook got stopped by a man, who stood near the blackboard. The boy stopped and looked confused at the man, who was wearing a unique fur coat, a glittering vest and a hat. "Oh you are the fantastic boy I saw earlier", the man talked and Jungkook titled his head confused, then the man bowed to him, "Good evening!" Jungkook greeted him back and bowed. "Do tell me where taxis run", the man asked him.
"Where taxis run?", Jungkook repeated and the man nodded, the boy started pointed around wildly, "Ah go there, go to the left and then turn right."
"Oh, what a nice boy", the man talked, surrounding Jungkook curiously, "I understand and can talk Korean, but its been a while for me already. Prière... bitte... prego, could you give me the way?"
"Bitte?", Jungkook repeated confused and didn't understand a word.
"While we're at it, shall we have dinner too?", the man talked and Jungkook's eyes started sparkling. It was the thought of a great meal, which caused the boy to dream off. He loved to eat way too much.
"Dinner?", he mumbled and the man agreed immediately but Jungkook turned away, "But that'd be too much... I'm not supposed to follow strangers." He was in trouble. He wanted to get an unique dinner, but he didn't know this man, who looked so strange.
"Nein? No? Non, mais?", the man talked in incomprehensible words, languages Jungkook didn't know, "I'm just an innocent tourist from Europe! My name is Milch Lorraine. Korea sure has changed. I don't even recognize it. I'm an old man and alone, I feel really lonely."
"Oh, you are alone?", Jungkook asked the man sadly, who had crouched down next to the boy, looking at him with puppy eyes. Jungkook heard how the man's stomach was growling and suddenly his own stomach was growling too. "Okay!", the boy helped the stranger to get up again, "Let's go eat together." The man agreed with him, but from one second to another Jungkook didn't look so happy anymore. "Ah, but I'm worried about Taehyung seonbae too...", he mumbled to himself, then he smiled again, "Let's go eat with seonbae!"

Taehyung couldn't believe what was going on. He planned to eat his dinner quietly and rest then. He didn't want to see anyone anymore, he just wanted to be with himself, so how could he have ended up cooking for Jungkook and an old geezer, he bought along?
"Wow, it's ready already", Jungkook lilted happily, drooling over the several plates with different dishes on. The young boy turned to the man, he bought to their house and even dragged him inside Taehyung's aparment and was now sitting on Taehyung's sofa. "Great timing, don't you think?"
"It smells like bouquet garni", the man said fascinated and Jungkook was smelling on every plate. His nose almost completely sunk into the dishes. "This is French home cooking, isn't it?", the stranger talked and smiled brightly.
"Let's eat before it gets cold", Jungkook mentioned and took the chopsticks.
"Wow, there's wine here too!", the man was surprised and got a bottle out of Taehyung's shelf. Taehyung himself stood in his kitchen, observing the two guys, who tried to take over his apartment. He still couldn't fully understand what was going on, but it was enough.
"You too, seonbae! Sit here! Let's eat together", Jungkook babbled and Taehyung walked over to the table. He leaned forward and slapped the chopsticks out of Jungkook's hand, so that they were flying through the whole living room. "Oh no", Jungkook whined and caressed his slapped hand.
"What do you mean 'sit here'? Whose place do you think this is?", Taehyung shouted and then looked at the man, who poured a glass of wine to himself, trying it, "And who is that old geezer? Are you a a thief? You've gotta be. Don't drink that wine!"
The man stopped and slowly put the glass of wine down, before he turned to Jungkook, who sulked and kept rubbing his hand. "Kookie, this isn't your apartment?", the stranger asked.
"Kookie's apartment is...", Jungkook started but Taehyung interrupted him harshly.
"It's next door!", he yelled but quickly calmed down again, kept talking loud but without shouting, "Who's this suspicious-looking old man?"
"He's not suspicious!", Jungkook talked back and stood up to face the older one, "He's my friend. I met him on the street earlier. His name is..."
Taehyung moved his face closer to Jungkook's, looking intensively at the younger one. "You... just met him on the street?", Taehyung talked quietly to the boy, who kept pouting, "That makes him your friend already? How the hell are you making friends?"
"Ah, I remember! His name is Milch! Milch Lorraine-sshi."
"Milch Lorraine?", Taehyung repeated it confused and frowned, "What? Wait! Milch is the German word for cow milk and Lorraine is a region in France! It's obviously a fake name!"
"Oh!", the man stood up, catching their attention, "Do you even know German or French?!"
"Yes", Jungkook said proudly, hugging Taehyung's arm slightly, "This is Taehyung seonbae. He is very bright and very good at piano." The young boy wanted to dote upon Taehyung some more but the stranger interrupted him by asking if he could hear the older one play a bit. When the man walked over to Taehyung's grand piano, Jungkook wanted to follow him, but Taehyung hold him on the back of his collar. It caused Jungkook to choke for a second, before he realized that he just needed to turn around back to Taehyung again.
"Hey, are you sure he's not really a thief?"
"Huh?", Jungkook scratched his head confused. He hadn't even thought about that the man could be a thief or dangerous. He just naivly had followed him around, but honestly he thought that nothing could to him since Taehyung was with him.
"Kim Taehyung-ssi... an acquaintance of yours?", the man asked and turned around to the two students. The man found a picture, which showed Taehyung as child with a famous choreographer from England.
Taehyung pushed Jungkook aside, who fall down on the armchair next to him, while the older one rushed over to the man. He quickly ripped the photo out of the stranger's hands. "He's my teacher for choreograph. Don't touch!"
"Choreographing? You want to be a choreographer?"
"Got a problem?", Taehyung asked with an insulting voice.
The man turned around to Jungkook, who looked confused to the two men from aside. "Kookie, let's get out of here", he said and slapped Taehyung's chest, pushing him aside to get the a free way, "We seem to be bothering Taehyung-ssi." The man crouched down next to Jungkook, who secretly ate some vegetables from the plates and was still sitting on the armchair. "At the hotel I'm staying at there's a wonderful Korean barbeque restaurant", the man talked in a seductively voice.
"A Korean barbeque restaurant?", Jungkook asked and immediately let fall down the chopsticks. His mouth quickly started munching when he was just thinking about having Korean barbeque. The man offered him to go and Jungkook immediately followed the stranger.
"So, he's just a dirty old man, eh?", Taehyung talked to himself and looked after them. They had already reached his front door. "Hey, wait a second!", he shouted and they stopped, looking back to Taehyung, who was standing in the doorframe, which seperated his living room from his entrance corridor. "For today, in my room..."
Jungkook's eyes grew big and he slowly ambled to Taehyung, who gave him a confident smile. "Your room?"
"I will help you practice."
"Practice?"
The man grinned and stepped closer to Jungkook again. "Kookie, I will teach you something much more fun", he said and wiggled with his eyebrows, "In a room with a beautiful night view over Hangang river, a fluffy-fluffy bed..." The man looked at Taehyung while talking and he could see, how the student slowly got angry, with his face turning red from anger. "... and fluffy-fluffy pillows..."
"A beautiful room?", Jungkook dreamed off and talked to himself, "Fluffy pillows?"
The man clapped his hands loudly and faced Taehyung, who looked angrily at them. "Taehyung-ssi thanks for the food!", he sang and turned to Jungkook, "Let's goo~"
"HEY!", Taehyung shouted to hold them back again, "I have that here too!" He pointed on his bedroom door and looked at Jungkook, who's eyes got round again. "I also have a fluffy bed."
"Is it your bed, seonbae?", the younger one asked and walked slowly back into Taehyung's direction, who hesitated for a second but then nodded to Jungkook. "And the pillow?"
"Eh...", Taehyung hesitated again, but he had to hold Jungkook back from going with the man, "Ah, my arm is the pillow!"
"Alright!", the younger one squealed and ran to Taehyung, hugging him tightly. Then the older one used his chance to kick the old man out of his apartment. Now the first mischief-maker was gone, so Taehyung just needed to get rid of the garbage boy also. Taehyung hoped that the kid didn't take him serious about the bed, but when he returned to his living room, Jungkook wasn't around. He walked over this bedroom, where Jungkook really had laid down into Taehyung's bed. He was under the blankets, which he opened as soon as Taehyung entered the room. "Come on in, Taehyung hyung", Jungkook said and blushed. He turned away, hugging the pillow. "Iyaan~"
"What do you mean 'Iyaan'? You fool", Taehyung shouted and kicked Jungkook out of his bed, "I can't believe you brought that wicked old man here! Go home, you parasite!" He grabbed Jungkook's wrist and pulled the younger one out of his bad. Jungkook let himself fall down on his but Taehyung didn't stop and pulled him over the ground out of his bedroom.
"You liar! Liar", Jungkook whined, while Taehyung was pulling him closer to the front door, "Okay, okay, I will practice! Let's practice!" Taehyung stopped and let go of Jungkook's wrists. The younger one was sitting on his knees on the ground like he was begging for forgiveness. "Kookie will be good and practice. Really, I promise."
"I don't care about that anymore", Taehyung talked and looked away.
Jungkook sighed and looked up to the older one, while he was still sitting on the ground. "What's wrong? You didn't come today." But Taehyung didn't answer and Jungkook noticed a folder which was laying under the sofa. He stretched his arm under it and pulled the folder out of it. "What's this?", Jungkook asked and took a curious look on the folder, "A choreographer's... what is it score? Plan? Wow, it's all marked up! So, what you said earlier was true about becoming a choreographer. Kookie wishes to see you choreograph soon." Jungkook took the folder and pressed it tightly on his torso, dreaming off and imagined to watch Taehyung choreographing a group.
Taehyung grabbed the folder and ripped it out of Jungkook's hands. "Go home", he said calmly and turned to Jungkook, but then walked over to his grand piano. There he laid down the folder and looked away. "Even if I study like this... What's going to come of it?" Taehyung leaned on his piano and Jungkook watched him quietly. The younger one was playing nervously with his shirt, because he didn't know what he should do to cheer his seonbae up again, who suddenly looked depressed. "No matter how hard I study, no matter how good I am at piano, in the end I'm even losting to that ham guy. Ten years ago and now I am just watching performances from afar. I don't want to do it and you don't want to practice, so let's leave it at that. It was a useless assignment for the start. There's no need to force ourselves."
"But..."
Taehyung took a deep breath and stayed up normally again. "I will talk to Yongbae seonsaengnim. I'll tell him that I'm not good enough to tutor." Jungkook looked dejected to Taehyung, who was showing him the cold shoulder. Slowly the younger one's head moved down, he looked like a puppy who lost it's owner. Then Jungkook turned around and shuffled quietly out of the apartment. Taehyung simply just looked over his shoulder and turned slowly back when he heard the front door was closing again and finally Taehyung showed his discouraged expression to himself.
