Lesson Two

Interludium

Taehyung was standing in a field of flowers, the wind was dancing around him, caressing his face. The sky was blue and sunny, no clouds were covering it. It was a pleasant feeling to him when the wind was surrounding him calmly. The sun was warming his face, giving his skin a bright color. Wherever he looked there was meadow with white flowers. Then he heard the sound of a piano, it was calm and quietly, then it became louder before it quickly returned to its calmness again. He remembered the piece, it was the one he heard at the academy, which was played by the dark haired boy.
When he opened his eyes, he noticed that the blue sky, the flower meadow, sun and wind were just a dream but the sound of the piano was still there. His sleepy eyes wandered around, his view was blurred from his tiredness, so all he saw were piles of clothes, boxes and leftovers from takeout food. In the middle of everything were colorful manhwas, but Taehyung couldn't exactly see them, in between stood small figures of anime and movie characters. Slowly his glance became clearer and he recognized the piano at the end of the room, where a dark haired boy sat, playing it. "The piano sonata, echoing so beautifully through the garbage... willfully, wistfully as if you were singing...", he thought and he noticed what he thought.
"Where is this place?" he said quietly and sat up. With two fingers he wiped the sleepy dust out of his eyes before he leaned his hand on the table next to him to stand up. His fingers bumped against an empty can, it toppled down and suddenly many little flees came out of it. "Eww!", Taehyung let out a disgusted scream, trying to stand up in the garbage, while his hands were waving around in front of his face to get rid of the flees. When he finally was able to stand up, he saw in what he slept. He stood in the middle of boxes, clothes, there a plate of molding food and here a plastic box with the rest of ramyun inside. He was standing on a blue rubbish bag and a pink blanket was covering him half, which he took away and threw through the room.
"Ah, now I remember...", a voice said and Taehyung turned around. It was the boy, who played the piano. "Taehyung seonbae!", the boy mentioned and grinned all over his face to Taehyung, whose eyes grew big in surprise, "Do you remember what happened last night?" Taehyung's eyes got more round, is mouth slightly open, showing his shocked face and the boy just smiled brightly to him.
Taehyung shivered and his hands ran over his torso. He still wore his shirt and pants so nothing could have happened with that guy. But his clothes were a mess, which was unlike him. He gave that boy another glance, uncertain if really nothing happened. He looked around and saw his leather case, which he quickly picked up and stamped through the garbage out of the apartment. "Taehyung seonbae", the boy whined and wanted to follow him but Taehyung already rushed out of the flat.
At the hallway he noticed that he was in his apartment complex already. Confused he looked around. "How can this be? This is my apartment complex", he talked to himself, then he turned to the next door and saw the sign, which showed his name, "My..." His look wandered from his door to the door he just came out. "My neighbor's room?!"
He noticed a must and slowly his head moved to his shower, where dust and cobweb had collected already. A shower rushed over his back and he wiped and thumped his shoulder to get rid of the dirt. This was hell to him. Then he rushed into his apartment. He threw his shoes on the floor and his case on the sofa before he entered his bathroom. Quickly he took off his shirt. "What... what's with that BOY?", he talked to himself and he wanted to open his belt to take off his pants and remembered that the boy called him seonbae, "He's a student from my school?" He quickly wanted to take a shower but he noticed that his belt was gone and the boy's words popped up to his mind again 'do you remember what happened last night'? Did he really do it with him? They did it? Taehyung couldn't imagine that he would do it with a boy, especially not with some stranger, but his belt was gone, which could be a sign that they really did it.
He quickly rushed under the shower, letting the hot water running over his body. He needed to get rid of the feeling of dirt and shame, but no matter how much he washed himself, nothing helped. "ARGH, I DON'T REMEMBER!!!"

Taehyung entered the academy, walking down the path of the areaway. He knocked his head slightly, he got a headache, maybe he drank too much last night. Unfortunately he still didn't remember what exactly happened last night, neither how he ended up at his neighbor's room nor if anything happened between them. "Ah, my head hurts", he talked to himself, but at least he felt refreshed from his shower and he changed into new, clean clothes.
"Seonbae!", Taehyung heard and looked up. There he was. The boy. He was holding up Taehyung's belt and waved to him. "Your belt! You forgot it when you left my place this morning, didn't you?", he talked and ran to Taehyung, who looked shocked at the dark haired boy.
"Just as I thought...", Taehyung talked to himself, "He is a student from my school... It’s a wonder that I survived in that garbage-filled room." The boy stopped in front of him, still holding up the belt and Taehyung noticed the bulk of people, who were surrounding them and looked curiously. It was the first time they saw Taehyung talking to an unpopular student, so they couldn't really believe what was going on. The boy laid the belt around his face like it was a frame. Taehyung frowned and shook his head. "That belt's not mine", he said and walked off again.
"It's yours!", the boy shouted after him and ambled after Taehyung, "I remember you seemed really uncomfortable so I took it off." Taehyung rolled his eyes and kept walking straight over the fore place, trying to get rid of the boy, who was following him like a dog.
"You've got the wrong person, that’s not me", Taehyung said and the boy pouted, playing with the belt and kept saying that it was Taehyung’s'. "If I say it's not me, then it's not", Taehyung added while walking.
"But it smells like you", the boy spoke and leaned forward, smelling on Taehyung's shoulder. Taehyung looked over his shoulder, without turning his head around. He couldn't believe that this kid seriously smelled on him. Taehyung slowly got mad and pissed. He finally wanted to get rid of that boy.
"Don't follow me!", Taehyung shouted and turned around. He grabbed the belt and threw it away, so that it ended up hanging in a tree. The boy ran after the belt, trying to get it out of the tree. He was jumping up and down like a child and Taehyung just rolled his eyes annoyed and walked off.

In the classroom the girls were surrounding the dark hair boy, who kept playing with the belt, which he finally got out of the tree. They were questioning him immediately about the incident with Taehyung, after they heard about it. "Jungkook! What was that earlier? Why were you so friendly with Taehyung oppa?", Jihye asked confused, unable to believe what she saw and heard from others.
"I picked Taehyung seonbae up last night", Jungkook said and smiled at his friends, who couldn't believe what he was saying. They asked him more and more question, but the boy was just smiling happily. "In front of my house", he explained, "But why...? I don't really know..."
"Impossible, you are making up stories, as usual", Kyeongah talked, shaking her head quickly.
"But seonbae said to me 'please help me'.", Jungkook mentioned and smiled. The two girls exchanged looks and shook their head, they couldn't believe what they were hearing. It was impossible that their dorky classmate Jungkook was friends with their great Taehyung oppa.

At the same time Taehyung stopped at the blackboard. He saw a paper were information were written on, which involved him. "Lesson instructor change... piano division: 4th-year Kim Taehyung; from Choi Seunghyun seonsaeng to Dong Yongbae seonsaeng...", he read out loud to himself, "Dong Yongbae?" He looked at the end of the paper, where the room was written down. So Taehyung entered the building, looking for the room which was mentioned at the paper.
He found the room and saw a teacher with a student inside the room. He knocked and stepped inside, where the dark haired boy was dancing sappily around. When he had finished his dance, the teacher was clapping and laughing over what he saw. "It’s good for child's play, isn't it?", the boy asked his teacher, who agreed immediately.
"Yes, the last part was good", the teacher said smiling and laughing. Taehyung closed the door with a noise to catch the teacher's attention, but at first the boy saw and greeted Taehyung. "Oh, hi", the teacher spoke and stood up, shaking his new student's hand, "Please come in!"
"Looks like I've entered the wrong room", Taehyung apologized and was about to leave again but the teacher stopped him. He laid his hand on the door, showing Taehyung that nothing was wrong at all.
"I've been waiting for you, Taehyung-ssi", the teacher admitted and took a look on his new student, who was well dressed and with his perfectly styled hair like always, "Wow, you have such a different aura in person. They can't call me 'drop-out' anymore."
"Drop-out?", Taehyung repeated confused.
"Teacher for drop-outs. It's terrible, isn't it?", Yongbae seonsaeng said, looking a bit sad but then smiled again. He walked over to the pianos, giving Taehyung a sign to take a seat. "Let's sit and talk first."
"Me... a drop-out?", Taehyung mumbled and looked down. Then he noticed that boy, who stepped closer to him, holding something towards him.
"By the way, what about this belt? Don't you want it back, seonbae?", he asked and smiled friendly to Taehyung. But the older one just shook his head and walked over to the teacher, ignoring the boy, who pouted and sat down on a chair, putting the belt into his bag.
Taehyung asked his new teacher, why there were two pianos and his teacher just nodded. "Yes, won't you try it? It will be a piano duet lesson for 3rd-year Jeon Jungkook-ssi and you." Jungkook smiled and stood up, he pressed some keys of each piano. "I didn't know that you two each other, but it’s even better like this", Yongbae added smiling.
"Wait a second. Why do I have to take lessons with", Taehyung started but got interrupted by the boy.
"Kookie chooses this one", the boy said happily and sat down in front of one of the pianos. A bright smile was decorating his face and their teacher gave his younger student a smile and nodded.
"Normally, it's done with the teacher, who plays which piano, isn't it?", Taehyung scoffed.
"I think it'd be pretty interesting for you two to play a two-piano piece", Yongbae mentioned and handed both students the score, "He actually plays good.."
But Taehyung didn't want to play with him and interrupted his teacher. "Even so, it's impossible to adjust to such a person who plays so sloppy", he talked back.
"No, no...", Yongbae stopped Taehyung quickly and made sure that Taehyung took the score, "YOU can do it for sure, as the best pianist of our academy." His teacher laughed slightly and smiled. Taehyung didn't understand what that man was always so friendly and happy. For him it was unbelievable to imagine playing with that messy kid. "If you don't want to, I can't force you, but think of it as helping your hubae?", the man titled his head and kept smiling at Taehyung.
Taehyung looked at the score, it was a classical piece, which he knew for years already. He used to play it with his mother as teenager. "That's going to be easy", he thought and gave himself a confident nod before he sat down at the other piano. But Taehyung didn't think of the younger one, who immediately threw a monkey wrench in Taehyung's plans, because the third-year student never heard about this piece.
"Eeek, I don't know this piece", the younger one mumbled to himself and made a grimace, looking a bit desperately.
Their teacher had taken place on one of the seats behind the pianos, so he was able to look at both of them. "It's a pretty fast piece and it may be difficult to keep it together", Yongbae admitted but he smiled again, looking at Taehyung, "But work at it patiently." The fourth year student nodded, then placed the score on the piano and took place correctly. The way he was sitting in front of the instrument already showed, that he was different than Jungkook. Taehyung's back was straight like a board, while Jungkook was sitting like a potato sack, while looking over the score.
"Yah, let's sight-read once and get started, garbage boy", Taehyung ordered the younger one.
"Call me Jungkook or Kookie, please", the younger one pouted, but Taehyung didn't pay attention to him. They looked through the score together, while Yongbae seonsaeng watched them from the back. After they had checked the score like Taehyung wanted them to do, they returned to the first page.
"Let's start with a slow tempo, like this...", Taehyung said and tapped his finger on the piano, giving Jungkook the tempo, which the older one intended to start with. Jungkook nodded with every tap he was hearing to internalize the beat. "Here we go!", Taehyung spoke, giving the younger one a strict glance. They both laid their hands on the keyboard, Taehyung looking at Jungkook and the younger one looking at Taehyung's fingers. He wanted to see when the other one started playing. One more nod and the two of them started playing. But Jungkook quickly pressed a wrong key, causing Taehyung's face muscles to twitch and he stopped. Promptly Taehyung threw his score on Jungkook's head. "Don't mess up in just two measures!", he shouted.
Jungkook rubbed his head, where he got hit from the score folder and a huge pout were covering his face. "Let's do it again", Taehyung ordered and they started again. But just after few measures they were out of synch already. "Why...", Taehyung thought and stopped playing, glaring into space, "Why does he play so sloppy?" Then he looked at Jungkook, who played with closed eyes, not paying any attention to the score or to Taehyung. Taehyung stood up, armed with his score and hit the back of Jungkook's head with it. "You are not looking at the music!"
"But I memorized the music correctly...", the younger one whined.
Taehyung pulled Jungkook back on his collar and gave him an intensive glance, which caused the younger one to freeze. "Correct?", Taehyung asked and his voice was full of sarcasm, "It's supposed to be tat-tat-tat and you played it as pa-pa-pa? What was that?"
"Just sort of...", Jungkook mumbled and pouted. Taehyung slowly got angry. His facial expression became darker, so Yongbae quickly bought himself in the situation again.
"Since he has good ears, he often learns by listening", the teacher explained and Jungkook looked down, he felt Taehyung's glance in his neck, "He's not used to look at the music while playing.
"So, that's why he plays so sloppy."
"Moreover, he hates practicing", Yongbae told Taehyung, who sighed loudly, "Well, take it easy and do your best."
"Are you kidding me?!", Taehyung talked angrily, "Three days is more than enough for this lesson!"

At the evening Taehyung returned home, he felt stressed, tired and annoyed. Extremely annoyed. Bad enough that he now was taught and treated like those other stupid drop-out students, but why the hell did he have to work with that garbage boy also? He didn't know how to let out his anger. As soon as he entered his apartment, he took some books and cds out of the shelves, throwing them angrily through the room. "Damn it!", he shouted. He didn't know if he should be angry with the teacher, with that kid or with himself.  He stepped over the mess he caused and walked outside on his balcony. Taehyung just wanted to take some fresh air, but all he noticed was a disgusting, moldy smell, which caused him to retch. "What's this...", he said and covered his nose with his hand.
He stepped near the dividing wall, which separated his balcony from the neighbor's one and leaned slightly over the balustrade to look at the other balcony. Taehyung's eyes grew big in shock when he saw what was behind the wall. The whole balcony was covered with dirty plastic and rubbish bags, which were piled up to the ceiling of the other floor. "What the hell?", Taehyung was shocked and suddenly he noticed some viscous, smelly liquid coming over to his side of the balcony. He shivered disgusted and stepped back, observing how little bugs and ants were following the liquid. "Gosh..."
Taehyung rushed outside his apartment and stopped in front of his neighbor's apartment. He was standing close to the door and pressed the doorbell over and over and over again. "Coming!", the voice inside the apartment was shouting, but Taehyung ignored it, so that he didn't notice when the door was opening promptly. The door banged against his head, causing him to wobble backwards and falls on his . "Taehyung seonbae?", Jungkook said and looked confused down to the older one, who was lying on the ground.
"Aish...", Taehyung hissed, rubbing his forehead and gave the younger one a pissed glance, "No one answers the door so abruptly!"
"What's wrong?", Jungkook asked and titled his head, "Ah, the belt, right?"
"Move!", Taehyung said and pulled Jungkook out of his door, so that he could enter the apartment. And he stopped when he reached the living room, which looked like waste dump.
"Seonbae, if you came for the belt, here it is...", Jungkook babbled shyly, holding the belt proudly in his hands, ready to give it back to Taehyung. But the other one didn't pay attention to him.
"Clean up!", Taehyung shouted, trying to fight a way through the garbage, "Take out all of your cleaning supplies!" Here and there the older one was throwing empty plastic bag or paper boxes after him, while Jungkook tried to avoid getting hit by them.
"Cleaning supplies?", the younger one asked and thought about it for a second, while he was still standing at the living room's entrance, "If you mean the vacuum cleaner, I always leave it lying around."
"Where is it?", Taehyung yelled and almost fall into the waste, while he tried to handle a huge box, which he had picked up to put it aside.
"It's on top of the bed."
"Where the hell is the bed?!", he exclaimed and threw the box angrily on the ground. He tried to follow the direction, Jungkook was pointing at. "Huh? Damn it! It stinks!" A blanket had surrounded Taehyung's leg, causing him almost to fall down. Angrily he tried to get rid of it and threw it away. "What's with this mountain of garbage? I'm going to throw it all out!" He picked up a box and was about to throw it away.
"Nooo! Don't!", Jungkook shouted desperately and rushed over to Taehyung, trying to get the box out of the older one's hands, "This box had a lot of important things, things for school and stuff." Jungkook took the box and placed it on the ground in a corner, while Taehyung already picked up another box, ready to throw this one finally away, but once again the younger boy stopped him. "No!! This box has food that my family sent me. I can't survive without this..." Taehyung looked confused after him, while Jungkook was looking through the stuff in the box. But Taehyung already found another box and like expected Jungkook stopped him another time. "Nooo! Not that! Not that!", he whined and ripped the box out of Taehyung's arms, falling down on the ground with it, "This is my treasure..." Jungkook looked through the stuff again and suddenly hold up a little glove puppet to Taehyung. "See?"
Slowly the glove puppet was moving closer to Taehyung's face, which became darker. He grabbed the puppet and threw it back onto Jungkook. "Cut it out!", Taehyung shouted at the younger one. Then he finally could start cleaning up the pile of mess. He had covered his face with a face mask, because he didn't want to smell the musty smell and besides that he didn't want to get sick. Quickly he found something, which he couldn't believe. It was a pot and inside was completely molded, black and dried stuff inside, unable to define what kind of food it once was. "Look here!", Taehyung caught Jungkook's attention, who slowly picked single stuff from the ground to tidy up, "What's this?"
"It's probably cream stew..."
"Since when is cream stew black and wraps around like a snake?"
Jungkook hold his nose because of its smell. "Yes, after a year or so..."
When Taehyung had finished the kitchen, he chose to clean the living area. He took a new rubbish bag, where he put everything he found, just to get rid of all the waste. Once again he found something unbelievable. "Hey! What with this fish roe?", he asked Jungkook, who tried to clean the area around his bed. The fish roe was covered completely with white mold and it looked like something else was already growing inside of it.
"It was my meal...", Jungkook smiled embarrassed.
Taehyung didn't know how long it took to clean all the boxes, bags and food leftovers, but he was glad when they had finished almost everything. There were only the clothes, which were covering the floor and laundry to do for him, while Jungkook was ordered to organize his childish books and toys. Taehyung had picked up a something, where a mushroom was sticking on. "What's that... a mushroom?", Taehyung asked shocked.
"That's my laundry", Jungkook admitted smiling and Taehyung put it into the waste bin, before he turned to the other clothes, which were still lying around. He picked up something, which he noticed to late what it was. He held it with two fingers only, his face showed a disgusted grimace and Jungkook's eyes grew big when he saw what the older one was holding up there. "Ahh! My boxers", the younger one shouted and jumped over to Taehyung, getting the underpants out of the other one's hands.
But Taehyung was annoyed of what he found every time and especially because Jungkook always disturbed him. So the older one had wrapped Jungkook tightly in a blanket, so the younger one was unable to move anymore. "Be quiet!", Taehyung said and looked down on Jungkook, who looked like a sushi roll and tried to get out of it.
Taehyung bought the whole waste to the dump, after he even had vacuumed Jungkook's apartment. Tiredly he crouched down next to the overcrowded dump, unable to believe that it was finally done. "What am I doing?", he asked himself, but then returned upstairs to Jungkook's apartment, who was playing playfully around on piano.
"The piano sounds completely different with no garbage around", the younger one mentioned happily when Taehyung entered his room again. Then he danced around the clean room and threw himself on his bed.
Taehyung looked around. There was no waste, garbage or unnecessary thing around, but still something was disturbing him. "Yah, what's this smell?"
"Ah seonbae, in exchange, I cooked something for you! Please sit down", Jungkook said and grabbed Taehyung's wrist, pulling him to the table and pushed him down on the floor, "Don't worry!" Jungkook walked over to the kitchen, when Taehyung finally had sat down. It didn't take long until Jungkook came back and he put a plate in front of Taehyung. On the plate was an all burnt and black fish and with some mayonnaise Jungkook had drawn a heart on the fish. "Jjang~"
"What's this?", Taehyung asked coldly.
"Dried mackerel with mayo", Jungkook explained proudly.
"I was asking you what's this black thing..."
"Horse mackerel."
"It's charcoal!", Taehyung said and hit against the table, "Are you trying to kill me?" Then Taehyung jumped up and walked into the kitchen. He picked some stuff, which he found for cooking and started working. He was cutting onions like a pro and steamed them together with other vegetables in a pan. "Don't say you can cook, until you can't make something like this", Taehyung spoke when he was done and served Jungkook a plate with perfectly made pasta.
"WOW!!!! Wonderful! Wonderful! What's this called?", Jungkook asked and couldn't believe what kind of food was in front of him.
"Meringue a la panna con i broccoli", Taehyung talked proudly and just when he saw the younger one's stunned facial expression, he knew he overdid it.
"Delicious! Wonderful! It's better than my mom's cooking", Jungkook admitted as soon as he had tried a bite of it. He looked up to Taehyung with sparkling eyes and patted the older one's thigh. "You are a genius!"
"That's a bit too much...", he said quietly and smiled lightly. As soon as he noticed that he was blushing, Taehyung quickly just sat down to eat. "Next time I'll cook something better for you."
"Next time?", Jungkook asked and Taehyung nodded slightly, before he started eating, "Woahh! You are my savior!"
This was enough for one day. Taehyung was glad when he was in bed and it didn't take long until he fall asleep, but once more he thought about the new teacher, the kid from next door and his duty to teach him a piece, which they had to play together. But Taehyung was sure, there was nothing impossible for him.
