Despite what I said, Haneul didn’t get better. One day before Super Junior’s goodbye stage, Kyuhyun and I went to visit Haneul in the hospital. Her condition made it quite impossible for her to leave. When we reached her ward, we saw why. She looked so pale. Comparing the present Haneul with the healthier Haneul I saw at the café, my knees started to buckle. Kyuhyun looked like me when my father was on his deathbed.
“Haneul-ah, how are you today?” Kyuhyun said, trying to control his cracking voice.
“What do you think?” she retorted in a weak voice. “Oraemanida, two of you.”
“Annyeonghaseyo, Haneul-ssi,” I said with a bow. “Have a seat, both of you.”
“Has everything settled between you two?” “Neh,” I replied politely. “Good.” I felt like they should talk and that they wanted to talk, so I went out and bought some fruits. I took my own sweet time downstairs. I even contemplated buying ddokbokki and eating it in the food court. Who knows how long they would take to finish talking? Oh! Kyuhyun texted me.
“From Kyuhyun:
Where are you? Haneul is not as dumb as you think. Hurry up and come back. You’re embarrassing yourself if you take too long.”
Hok! I’ve been found out. Park HyeoEun you pabo. I ordered my ddokbokki for take away, and rushed back up. But when I reached the ward, I stopped in my steps, basically because I could hear them crying.
“Don’t say these thing, Haneul-ah. You’ll get better,” Kyuhyun said through his sniffs.
