Epilogue
Getting to Know YouRoffy opened one eye to hear a distinct giggle to her left. She turned around quickly, almost afraid that this was the culmination of all the horror movies she had watched and saw Yongguk smiling and giggling into their blanket.
“Are you okay?” she reached out a hand to touch his forehead.
He pulled away the fabric, all pretenses dropped and continued to smile and laugh. “I’m just really excited.” And Roffy couldn’t help but smile with him too because yes, Yongguk is adorable.
“Well, I am too. But I’m also scared.”
He shifted so that he held her by the waist and was staring into her eyes. “But we’re in this together, so there’s nothing to be scared about.”
Roffy wrinkled her nose. “You’re not the one whose stomach will be expanding and you don’t have to suffer nine months of physical pain.”
“I know.” Yongguk rested his head on her neck and breathed quietly. “But if you’re suffering, so am I.”
Roffy rubbed her stomach, wondering how their lives were changing. Just a few days ago, the biggest worry on her mind was whether or not she could find consistent parking going to work, and now she had to take all sorts of precautions to make sure the baby would grow healthily inside her, and also once it comes out.
Most couples usually waited an entire year before having their first baby, but Roffy was okay with being pregnant a few months in. Marriage was a learning process, and so was parenthood and it was fine with her that she could do both at the same time.
Yongguk moved away a little so that he could smile at her and Roffy bit back a large smile that was threatening to overtake her face. “”Well our moms will be happy.”
“Yeah, we have to tell them soon.”
“I just want to get through the first trimester first.”
“Do you have any names in mind?”
Roffy glanced at him. “Isn’t this a little early? We don’t even know whether the baby is a girl or a boy!”
“I mean we can throw around some names now. I was thinking Yongwon, maybe. For his Korean name, if it’s a guy.”
“There’s this guy you work with, Jiho. That’s a good name. It means ‘to live’ in Punjabi. I think that would be nice.”
“Okay, we can put that on the list too.”
Roffy held Yongguk’s hand as they continued throwing around ideas and she looked at him. “Are you sure we’re really ready?”
“We’re as ready as we will ever be, to be honest. If we don’t take the plunge now, we still won’t feel ready even when we do think we are.”
She pinched his cheek. “How deep.”
Yongguk grinned and had a faraway look in his eyes as he imagined holding the baby. “Wow, we’re finally having our own family now,” he whispered and looked at her in awe.
Roffy felt embarrassed. “Stop looking at me like that.”
“You’re the reason why we can have this family, okay. You need to start taking care of yourself. You can’t overwork, and you definitely cannot do strenuous activities.”
“I’m a nurse,” she said flatly. “I know how to take care of myself.”
“If you have any cravings, even if it means flying to Korea, I will go get them for you. But we still need to watch your diet,” he rambled on as if she hadn’t said anything. Roffy smiled in amusement and allowed him to continue in his own musings.
“We definitely need to start choosing a theme for the nursery, and get that ready too. We can’t’ do anything last minute.”
Roffy propped herself on her elbow and grinned mischievously at Yongguk. “Are you done?”
He smiled sheepishly at her and nodded. “Sorry, I got carried away.”
Winking at him as he pulled her into him for a kiss, Roffy said, “You forgot one important thing though.”
“Hmm?” he asked, his lips against hers.
“How are we telling Sniffles that he has a new sibling on the way?”
I-
I don't really know what to say Roffy :(
