Day 23
Getting to Know YouThe second day in New York was a whirlwind of colors and lights and happiness. It was being a tourist, being silly, and enjoying herself. When they got back to the lobby of their hotel., Yongguk collapsed on the couches provided and heaved a sigh.
“Wow. So that is New York.”
Roffy was still exhilarated as she plopped down next to him. “Yeah. I feel like I’ve seen so much and I still have so much I want to see. There’s more to the city than just these few blocks and I want to do things the locals do and not just be a tourist.”
Yongguk looked over at her. “We can come back for our second honeymoon and hire Jill as our tour guide. She’d do it for free.”
“She would also bring Daehyun and that would not be necessary.”
“True.” They were quiet for a few moments as they took in the experiences, the simplicity and the extraordinary happenings of their day. He glanced over at her and something in his expression changed. “Are you tired?”
Roffy grinned. “Of course. We’ve literally been out the whole day.”
“Then let’s go up so you can shower.” He held out his hand which she took and they headed for the elevators.
Yongguk inserted their room key into the slot and she went to look for a change of clothes. Waving a see you later to him, she walked into the showers. When Roffy walked out, the entire room had been transformed.
There were dimly lit lights and the sweet fragrance of a flower that she liked, a surprise considering her dislike for flowers in general. She walked out cautiously and Yongguk was waiting for her, looking almost too shy to look her in the face.
“There’s something for you on the bed,” he said. She saw that there were two bright red spots on his cheeks and knew that something had changed.
Roffy went to look at it and wrapped in delicate tissue paper was a lacy, sunset pink nightgown. “D-do you want me to try it on?” she asked. There was something that caught in her voice and in her heart, she knew that things were going to be different and she was okay with it.
“If you want,” he cleared his throat and she stepped into the bathroom again.
Roffy hyperventilated and forced herself to calm down. It was Yongguk and she was okay with it, something that surprised her. She slid on the nightgown and felt the satin material hug her body and stepped out shyly.
The admiration in Yongguk’s eyes when he saw her was worth everything. He stood and held her to him, one hand holding hers and the other around her waist. They stared at one another and he tugged his mouth into a grin.
“I love you,” he said simply.
She blinked and smiled back. He bent his head to kiss her and only when they pulled away did she repeat his confession to her. She felt at peace and the windows were overlooking the twinkling lights of the city.
He was still holding onto her and they swayed gently before Yongguk broke the silence. “I think it’s time to work on your mother’s request.” He raised his eyebrows and she grinned boldly back.
“You mean to tell me Sniffles wants a sibling already?”
Yongguk laughed out loud and swung her in his arms, stepping towards the bed as they smiled at one another. “I think he was asking for a sister.”
She felt herself lowered and sank into the cushiony down mattress and felt his weight on hers and even though Roffy was nervous, she also felt ready. And it was Yongguk. So she was okay.
