“DO YOU LOVE ME?”

She was stunned at her feet.
She never expected Donghae asking that.


Do I love you?

She asked herself.

Should I love you?
Have I fallen for you already?
How should I answer you Donghaeya.

She was standing still not facing Donghae.
She explored her feelings.
She doesn’t know what to feel hearing him ask that.

She tried to open to speak but she can’t find the words to say.

She then decided not to answer again.

With this she’s safe.

She took another step away from Donghae still not throwing him any look.

But even before she could step forward Donghae spoke again.

“I’ll wait Hyun Ae. Even if it means I’ll steal you from him.”

She was surprise again by his words. He’s maybe serious she thought.





She breathed deeply and answered him.

“You don’t know what you’re saying Donghae.”



“I know Hyun Ae……


And I mean it.”
She heard him say before she steps herself out of the chapel.

She walked so fast to prevent herself from listening to his words.
She’s scared that she might believe him which she felt that she almost did.

When she has reached the door of the chapel she then went outside and leaned on the wall. She closed her eyes as she softy rested her head on the wall.

“No you don’t Donghaeya. You must not know.” She said softly to herself as she closed her eyes to relieve herself of the pressure.




“Jaejoong hyung is looking for you Hyun Ae.”

She heard a man say.

She quickly stood properly and opened her eyes to see who just spoke.


“Junsu ssi….”.

“Hyung is looking for you already.” Junsu said in a serious tone.


Have he heard our conversation?

“Uh, alright. I’ll go back now.” She said as she walked quickly passing him by and pretending everything is fine.



“I never saw hyung that happy Hyun Ae.” She heard him suddenly say.
“Uhm.. what… what do you mean?” She almost stutters.

“I never saw him that happy until he introduces you to us as his girlfriend.” He followed up.

“Ah, I see.” She said and smiled.

Jaejoong could really act even in front of his friends. And even if he is sick.

But she still notices Junsu’s serious expression.
She continued walking in a slow pace. It must not show that she’s trying to avoid something.

“I just hope that you won’t hurt him.” she heard him speaks again.

What? He might have…

He looked at him. He still looks so serious.

“Of… of course.”
“Good. I just don’t want him to get hurt.”
“You’re such a nice friend.”
He didn’t answer her. Now they are walking along side with each other.
“Are you close to Donghae?”
She almost choked hearing him say that.
“Uh, I’ve known him for quite awhile now.”
“Is he courting you?”
My goodness! This pretending to be girlfriend thing puts me into so much trouble.


“Why are you asking?” She said in a serious tone also.

“I just don’t want Jaejoong hyung to be hurt. I told you that already.”

Junsu said and left her suddenly.

She was surprised by his action.

Is he mad at me? He might really have heard us.

She’s not scared it would reach Jaejoong’s ears. They’re just acting, she reminded herself.

I don’t care if he heard us and even tell Jaejoong that.

She tried to reason out to herself still.
Yet still she felt worried with that idea but trying to ignore that feeling.


She reached Jaejoong’s room and seen only Jaejoong alone.

“Where are the others?” She asked him.

“They left already.”

“I see. That’s good.”
She breathed and sits on the chair near the bed.
She must clear things before it gets worse she said to herself.
“There’s a lot to clear Jaejoong ssi.” She said.
“Jaejoong ssi? You used to call me ‘Sir’ before.” He smiled.
“It’s not the right time to joke around.” She said seriously.
“I’m fine with the acting idea just to save you from your mom. But I never thought you would include fooling your friends.”

He was silent.

“I’d let that pass. I don’t really care about that. I wanted to know how you knew me. You said you knew me even before.”

“Ok I’ll tell you the truth so listen carefully.”

Now she could feel hear heart beat faster.

I hope I could bear this truth.

“Your father and I were part of the organization my father built. This must be hard for you to take this but your father… sells drugs too.”

She was like pierced in her heart.

“You’re lying! My dad can’t do that!”

“He did, but that was just brief. He invested money on our organization to profit. He said he’ll use the money to finance the almost bankrupt winery of yours.”

She couldn’t believe it. Her dad in a drug syndicate?

“He tried to get out from the organization and we let him out.”

“But you killed him after!”

“No I didn’t! I couldn’t do such thing!”

“Then who killed him?!”

“I don’t know.”

“Ho Dong said it was you!”

“I came there, yes, and Ho Dong saw me. But I just went there because your Dad called. He said you’re coming home and he wants us to meet. But when I reach there, I saw your Dad shot already. I tried to save him and bring him to the hospital but he refused, he said it’s useless. I insisted but he was firm. And couldn’t stay there for too long. The police are coming. And a high profile person like me must not be seen there. It hurts to see him die. I also heard a shot again and I think that was for Ho Dong ssi. I didn’t see the gun man. I swear I did my best to run after whoever did this. But I didn’t even saw him.

And your dad, he was such a good man.


He before he passed away, he just said that…”

“That what??”

“That I must take care of you.”

They were silent for few minutes.

She couldn’t speak.

How could this be? I’ve been wasting all these years for revenge but I’m after a wrong man? And all these years he knew me and protected me?

She was crying terribly.

Jaejoong tried to get up but his weak body is preventing him. He still tried to get up with all his might and Hyun Ae saw it.

“What are you doing?!” She said as she rushed to him and put him back on the lying position.

“I want to hush you. I couldn’t bear to see you cry.”

She paused for awhile hearing him that.

“Your job is through. You don’t have to protect me or what so ever. I can do that on my own. I’m not even sure if I would believe you with all you said.”

Jaejoong just looked at her and didn’t say a word.
He looked hurt.

“This is the last time you’ll do that. Please let’s not see each other again.”

She said bravely. That was fast she thought. But this is better.
There’s no point of getting near Jaejoong.

She then turned back to leave but Jaejoong grabbed her hand quickly.

“Hyun Aeya, I’m not letting you go even if you asked me to.”

“Why? For what reason? Just to get killed?”

“Yes! Because… because I promised already that to your father.”

Though it hurts me too, I can’t bear to see you suffer more because of me.

“The bullet was for me, not for you. If you’d keep on protecting me, you might end up dead. I can’t … I can’t afford that to happen.”

She took her hand back.

“You don’t have to worry about the hospital bills. I have paid them already. Thank you for saving me. Tell your friends that we broke up already so you don’t have to worry. And find a right girl for you and introduce her to your mom. I… won’t be seeing you again.”

She almost ran to the door to the get out, but then she saw someone standing there.

It was Jaejoong’s mom who looked so surprised.
