Stars
100 Prompts (The Showdown sequel...kinda)Post 2/4 tonight.
This one is short. Sorry, it’s more of a drabble than a one-shot, and it’s the second drabble-like one in a row, but I hope you enjoy it none the less.
#70 – Stars
“This is perfect…” Kibum whispered, his eye enraptured by the sight of thousands of stars in the skies overhead.
Both of them being from big cities, they never really saw stars growing up. The lights of the city would flood the skies at night, making it impossible to see any stars in the inky black sky.
But Taemin, being the romantic that he was, had arranged a trip for them to Geoje Island off the Southern coast of Korea. It wasn’t as big as Juju, which also meant that it wasn’t as crowded with tourists. It was far easier for the couple to just slip into the stream of people and actually be able to relax for a while.
Taemin however, was entirely focused on Kibum. Watching the stars dance in his lovers eyes, and seeing the light reflect off of pale skin and making it practically glow.
“Completely perfect.” He agreed.
Taemin saw Kibum’s hand twitch and stifled his laughter.
He was the artist. Of course he would want to sketch or paint or somehow manage to translate the beautiful expanses of the heavens onto his canvas.
He silently passed over his interview pad from his back pocket, complete with a little half-pencil with a worn down eraser on one end.
Without a word, Kibum s his hands out to grab the offered supplies and he was off and sketching, letting the inspiration of this beautiful moment flow through him and waiting to see just what the outcome would be.
He had sat up and was now gazing out over the horizon, occasionally glancing down to make sure that his lines were turning out right, but mostly keeping his eyes trained on the magnificent sky above.
Taemin curled around Kibum’s back and wrapped his arms around the man’s waist, a huge smile tugging at the corners of his face as he watched Kibum’s face alternate between awe and concentration. He thought it was so cute that the tip of Kibum’s tongue stuck out between the man’s pink lips as he focused so intently on the task before him.
Some people would be offended if their lover would rather do something else while they were supposed to be spending quality time together. Some people would be pissed that something as romantic as this moment was being spent with one hunched over a small pad of paper, paying no attention to the person at their side who had gone through a lot of effort to bring all of this to pass in the first place.
But honestly, Taemin thought that as long as he could watch Kibum as the man watched and drew his stars, he was okay with that.
With a smile, he propped his chin on Kibum’s thigh, glancing as seemingly random lines were starting to coalesce into something far more substantial.
Kibum leaned down quickly and laid a gentle kiss to Taemin’s head.
“I’ll be done in a minute.” He promised.
“Take your time,” Taemin mumbled, twisting around so that he was laying down next to the artist, able to see him face to face, “The stars aren’t going anywhere, and neither am I.”
Kibum smiled a gentle smile, the kind only Taemin ever saw, and suddenly the stars that he was seeing had absolutely nothing to do with the orbs floating in the sky.
