Fly
MonochromeHoya pulls the blanket over Myungsoo’s body. He sighs while staring at Myungsoo skinny figure. Puffy and closed eyes. Sleeping soundly like an innocence baby. Nobody knows, that innocence face hiding a lot of sorrow. Hoya sits on the chair beside the bed. He holds Myungsoo hands carefully, because there’s a drip attached in that pale skin.
“It’s just anemia. Seems like he’s exhausted and doesn’t eat properly. He just needs to rest well.” Hoya remembers what doctor said. Right, maybe Myungsoo indeed need plenty of rest, but it won’t be enough. It won’t heal the wound inside him. To be honest, Hoya doesn't know what can he do to help the younger man.
“Hey, are you okay?” A lovely voice whispered in Hoya's ear. Bora sits beside him. He looks at her and smiles.
“At least I’m better than him.” Hoya said while looks back to the fragile Myungsoo. Bora sighs and holds Hoya’s hand. Trying to reassure him that everything will be fine. Even though she doesn't know how.
“Bora-ya…he will be fine, right?”
“He will.” She said, even though deep inside she’s not sure with that.
“He lost everything in his life. I can’t imagine what it feels like to be like him.” Hoya keeps staring at the fragile figure that lying on the bed, while Bora now staring at the older man face. I can’t imagine what it feels like to be you too, Hoya.
“That’s why I promise that I will protect him. I will always stand beside him. Not just because I’m his family but also because…I think he don’t deserves to be alone.” Hoya said. Hoya is a rough and sassy person who likes to speak straightforwardly, but when it comes to Myungsoo he's so careful. Because Myungsoo is vulnerable.
“I know.” She said while caressing tears in Hoya’s face.
“I’m sorry I’m crying like this. I’m such a cry baby lately. You must be embarrassed to have a boyfriend like me.” He chuckles.
“Yeah, a little bit. But it’s alright, it proves that invincible Lee Howon is still a human being after all.” She smiles and grips on his hand tighter.
Both laugh. Bora places his head on Hoya’s shoulder while still holding his hand.
“I’ll support you. While you stand beside him, I’ll stand beside you. I promise.” She whispered.
“Thank you. I love you.” He said while places a kiss in her forehead.
“I love you too.”
[flashback]
“Soo-ya…you like the story?”
“Yes. Omma will you buy me story book again next time?”
“Of course. If Myungsoo be a good boy, omma will buy you more story book.”
“But, if omma can have super power like people in this book. What kind of super power that you want?”
“Umm…what power….Ah…Omma wants to be able to fly…”
“Fly?”
[flashback end]
Myungsoo opens his heavy eyes and stares at the white ceiling above. Blurry. He’s wondering why everything around him is white. Who am I kidding? Since when my life is colorful? He tries to recognize what kind of place it is. Myungsoo rubbed his heavy eyes before suddenly realize there’s something attached to his right hand. Needle. Ah…so it’s hospital again. Myungsoo groan as he tries to sit.
“Soo, you’re awake?” Hoya voice ringing on his ear. Myungsoo ignore the older man as he struggle to sit.
“Hey, lay down…you’re still too weak…” Hoya holds his shoulder.
“Hyung, let go of me…” Myungsoo shoved Hoya’s hands but at that moment dizziness hit him hard. Hoya notices it at help him to sit with his back against the bed board.
“Are you feeling hurt? You want me to call doctor?”
“I’m fine.”
Hoya smiles as he pulls the blanket to cover Myungsoo’s half body. The latter just stare at him with emotionless face.
“Doctor said you got anemia. Your blood sugar is also low. It’s not too dangerous but still you need a proper rest and nutrition. That’s why you need to stay here for a while in case you got worse. Don’t worry you’ll be fine.” Hoya explaining things while fixing Myungsoo’s blanket. Myungsoo notices there are slight dark circle below Hoya’s eyes. The older must been up all night watching after him.
“Why?” A single word that come from Myungsoo just broke the silent.
“Uhh?”
“Why do you do this?”
“What are you talking about?” Hoya scoffed.
“Why do you care for me that much?”
“I’m your family.”
“Not your direct family. I’m just your cousin actually. Why are you so nice to me?”
“I don’t need to answer that, Soo. That’s what family does.”
“Are you pity me?” Myungsoo asked while staring at him sharply.
“What?”
“Be honest with me, hyung…are you doing all this because I’m so pitiful? Because there’s no one stand by me that’s why you’re willing to stand beside me?”
“Myungsoo, stop…” Hoya looks down.
“Why? Tell me why!” Myungsoo raises his voice while his eyes sends glare to Hoya.
“I don’t need any reason, Soo! That’s what I promise. I’ll stand by you. I’ll do anything for you. I don’t care how many times you push me away, I’ll ing stay. I’ll be there for you. So stop asking why!” The older man exploded. Hoya surprised with his own voice. He looks at Myungsoo who also surprised with Hoya’s reaction.
“I’m tired…leave me alone.”
“Soo…I’m…” Hoya feels regret. He must been scare the younger.
“Please…hyung…” There’s a pleading tone in Myungsoo’s voce. Hoya has no choice but to walk out of the room.
