Stranger's Love

15th December 2019

“Jagiya.” Solbi snuggled into Kai’s embrace for warmth on this freezing night. The two lovebirds sat in front of their fireplace enjoying each other’s company. She can’t help but to smile as she traced his jawlines with her hands. His jawlines were so defined that it chiseled out his other features perfectly. It was her favourite part of him and sometimes she secretly hope that their kids would resemble him as much as possible in the future. She was sure that their son would be a hearbreaker if he looks like his daddy.

“Hmm?” The man was reading a book on his left while hugging his beloved on his right. Coincidentally the book he was reading mentioned about flowers and their meanings. His thoughts went to the delicate lady immediately as he spaced out from his book.

“Just like how you memorize your dance routines.”

That sentence came back to haunt him once again. He remembered how this sentence had been stuck in his head for a few weeks after the lady first said it. Was it those words or the tone she used to say it that made him feel warm? Yes, his heart felt warm. It has definitely been a long time since he last felt so. The man himself can’t even remember when was the last time he had such feeling.

“Jagiya…” Solbi circled his neck causing him to look up from his book. His eyes arched upwards as he pecked on her cherry red lips. “Yes dear?”

“Can you help me get some flowers tomorrow? The girls are coming over for dinner.” The brown hair lady looked at him with her puppy eyes, causing him to chuckle. “What’s up with your eyes? You know I will get it for you even if you don’t use your aegyo.” The man pinched her nose lightly. His eyes were filled with gentleness, adoration and love for the woman in front of him. It was a rare emotion potrayed by this man. Probably only seen by Solbi.

“You are the best.” This time the girl reached up to steal a kiss from his thick, luscious lips.

“Anything for my baby.” He responded to her kiss before returning to his book. His mind wondered off to somewhere else when he saw the word flower once again.

The third time Kai went back to Pollen in that one month was to order a congratulatory flowers for SHINee’s concert. The lady managed to pick out a colourful arrangement of sunflowers, lilies, delphinium, dianthus and calcynia. The combination left Kai stunned once again.

“What’s the meaning of them this time?” He was curious of the meanings behind these flowers. Other than dance, flowers are probably the next thing that ever pricked Kai’s interest.

“No special meaning. I picked them base on SHINee member’s characters.” The lady continued her flower arrangement without looking up. “Sunflower is a mean for bolstering security and confidence. As the leader, Onew- ssi needs to support and strengthen the group. Lily's showy flowers earn the nickname Queen or Grand Dame of the garden. Queen supports the King. Jonghyun- ssi is the second oldest in line, his support is needed by the king. Delpinium represents the July birth flower, Taemin-ssi is a July baby. He conveys a feeling of lightness and levity like the delphinium. Carnations are the official flower of Mother’s Day. Key-ssi cooks and look after the members like a mother. Lastly, Calcynia. It doesn’t have any special meanings and it’s often neglected because other flowers tend to outshine it. However, it complements the other flowers and makes them look better. Like Minho-ssi.” She took the Calcynia and put it together before smiling sweetly at the flowers as though they were her prized possessions.

The man stared at her with amazement and admiration in his eyes. How did she manage to link SHINee to flowers and their characteristics?  “Do you happen to be a SHINee fan?” Other than that he couldn’t think of any other reason to explain her knowledge on SHINee.

“Nope.” I’m a EXO fan. The lady answered in her heart. “Naver gave me the above info within 5 minutes.” She showed him SHINee characteristics website that was loaded on her phone.

“It’s amazing you know…” Aleyah was taken aback. Did Kai just praised her indirectly? The man who was cold and barely talks to strangers had just said that she was amazing. She bit her lower lips to stop the smile from spreading on her face as she admired the soft features of the man. Those long eyelashes, slightly stubbed nose and thick lips that weren’t perfect but it made up the man before her. He was so lost in his own thoughts to notice the lady’s smile and soft gaze directed at him.

Wrapping up the flowers and attaching it to a glass bottle, she finished it up by tying a ribbon across. “It’s called passion.” The lady’s choice of words attracted Kai’s attention, pulling him out from his daydream.

“Passion gives you the determination to learn the most difficult thing you adore. Overtime, this determination becomes an ability. An ability to do the most difficult thing you like. Even if it takes up hours, days and months you will still do it because you love it too much to give it up.”

“I’m sure you can relate to it.” Flashing Kai a smile, Aleyah bypassed him and walked towards the counter with the flowers in her hands. Her scent left a trail for the man to follow after.

Dance. The first word that appeared in Kai’s mind instinctively when she finished the sentence. A boyish grin appeared on his face as he reminisced those trainee days where he spent days and nights in the practice room. Even though his back hurts, his muscle screamed in pain, he never thought of giving up. Passion indeed. He thought.

“I knew you could relate.” The lady saw his smile and knew he understood what she said earlier. “It’s fortunate to meet someone who understands what I’m talking about without finding me ridiculous.”

“Nice to meet you my new friend, I’m Aleyah Lee.” The lady put out her right hand as she waited for the man’s response.

So I decided to re-read this story today and was looking at the comments before doing so. I had noticed that many of you guys are siding on sehun. Am I the only one who's still rooting for the bad guy? I mean sehun is okay, sure. Cheating is never okay, I understand. But Idk man, Im still rooting for aleeyah and kai. She has love him for a long time and when Kai realized it, he was also falling in love with her at the very wrong time. Im sorry im just being emo pls ignore me.
