It has been two weeks and I have now saved up 2,996,000 won. That’s somewhere around $2,700. I have since purchased a nice computer and I have Skyped with my Mom a few times. Luckily I managed to teach her how to work a computer before I moved to the city.

I apologized to her not keeping in contact. Of course she yelled at me for taking a job overseas, taking a job on such short notice, and taking a job so close to North Korea without discussing it with her first. I told her I needed to pay my Internet bill-she told me I was an idiot. I love her though. After about a week she started talking to me nicely.

I felt like introducing her to Big Bang, so last night I told her to meet me on Skype at the same time tomorrow. It’s 9 a.m for her, 10 p.m for me. I my computer and let Skype log on while I went out to the living room to talk to the boys.

“Okay guys. My mom should be on Skype any minute now. I want you all to line up outside my door so I can introduce you one by one. I think it’ll have a theatric flair to it,” I say. They all stare at me blankly so I walk into the hallway and coach them. “Jiyong here,” I guide him to his spot on the wall. “Seungri, Youngbae, Daesung, Seunghyun,” I line them all up.

“You putting Seunghyun last so to make him special for your mother!” Seungri says loudly.

“Seungri, I can hear you. And so what if I am?” I say. He has no comeback. I have become very comfortable with the group in the past few weeks. “Okay guys. I am going to go get my Mom on and I will call you in one by one. Kay?” They all flash me the okay symbol.

I walk into the room and my Mother has signed on. I click call and the computer starts ringing. She answers and she looks lost.

“_______, I can’t see you. Where are you?”

“Mom…click the TV icon…Mah-Mom! I can’t see you. C…click the TV button,” we go through this every time. Eventually she gets me on screen and reacts as if someone just shone a light in her eyes. Every…time. The computer is pure magic to her.

“So…where are they?” she asks.

“I set it up for a good show. I’m going to introduce them to you one by one,” I say.

“Well let’s get this show on the road then,” she says.

“Okay. Mom, may I introduce to you-GD, G-Dragon, Jiyong!” I shout. He rounds the corner of the door with his super swagger walk. He really thinks he is cool doesn’t he. I shake my head in embarrassment on his part. I tap the chair next to me and he sits down. He is wearing sunglasses. I take them off of his face. “Are you kidding me?” I say. He shrugs with a smile. “Mom, this is Jiyong, but his stage name is G-dragon,”

“What kind of name is that?” she asks. “Is this what the kids are doing now-a-days?” Now I am just embarrassed of everyone.

“He told me it has something to do with his name. Like…G for Ji, and yong means dragon in Korean. So…Ji-yong…G-dragon. It’s pretty clever actually. I mean…I can’t even come up with things like that and English is my first language,” I say towards Jiyong. He smiles at me cooly and puts his sunglasses back on. Whatever. “He writes all the music for Big Bang and practically produces it himself. We are all going on tour in a few days. I’m really excited actually,” I say.

“Tour? Where?”

“WORLD!” Jiyong says proudly.

“What!?!” she shouts, almost blowing out my brand new speakers on my brand new computer that cost me my brand new pay check.

“Mom, it’s okay. I’m twenty-four-“

“And I wasn’t there for your birthday thanks to these guys…”

“Mom, don’t start this again,”

“Fine. Bring in the next one,” she says as if they are coming in for a line up at the police station. She is trying to decide which one she hates the least I guess. Jiyong slides off the chair and hops onto my bed. Since my computer camera is facing that way she sees him lounging about. “Get him off your bed ______!” she says as if his boy presence is going to get me pregnant.

“Mom.”

            She shakes her head as if I don’t know how to take care of myself but in a way that she is trying to show me that she has given up and knows I am just going to do what I want. We have a healthy relationship-she just forgets I am in my mid twenties. I see Jiyong sprawled out on my bed, his bottom leg stretched out and his other bent up practically offering his crotch to my Mom. He takes a lollipop out of his jacket pocket and starts on it. Seriously? He is not helping me at all.
