REWINDING
24 HoursAnd so, back to the past we go. To over 10 years ago, when Lee Joon and G.O were just small ten year olds known as Lee Changsun and Jung Byunghee. A time of innocence, stained. Never again will we return to those innocent childhood days.
Drop the flower and walk forwards. We cannot change the past.
Only the future.
Okay guys. I'm afraid I have some bad news...
Right. Truth is I'll be on a research assistant program in South Africa for the next month. Unfortunately, that means no updates for a month or so >.< Yes. It's exactly what it sounds like. No updates. And i just had to cut it off right here, didn't I...
I'm truly sorry, but I'll be in the middle of a national park with basically no internet connection. And i'm not bringing my laptop, so no chances at all of updates... T.T
I can't apologize any further, but I can just hope that you'll all be waiting for me and this fic when I get back. I'll leave you with this snippet of what is to come after the one month hiatus: the full story on G.O and Joon's backstory. Now I know you all probably think i've delved enough into Joon's backstory, but this one focuses on G.O's story. And it will reveal a lot more about who his father was, what he did that caused so much pain and sorrow for the whole mid-lands, why Joon's sister ended up joining the enforcers, what happened to their parents and siblings and finally culminating in G.O's recruitment into the Bloody Games.
I hope to see you guys at the other end of the tunnel. Until then, have a great summer.
Lots of love,
Fia.
Chapter 25: REWINDING[--:--am]
“Hey,” a black haired kid called out to another one. Both were scruffy, small and undersized from lack of food. They were just another two kids in a harsh world of survival. “Don’t touch that!”
The brown haired kid flinched and backed off. “I’m sorry, I-“ He stopped when he realized the voice came from another scrawny boy and not an enforcer.
“Huh?” the first one was confused. “I only said not to touch that because it’s electrified. Can you hear the buzz?”
The brown haired one stopped and listened. There it was: a soft, barely perceptible twang, but it was there.
“Phew,” the first one sighed. “Good thing I caught you or else you would’ve been the fourth one dead this week.”
“Huh?!” the brown haired kid looked so shocked he might as well have been electrocuted himself. “That many!” He hadn’t realized how close to death he had come.
The black haired boy nodded. “Uh-huh. The factory implemented the electric wall just over two weeks ago. Something about stopping us from being able to steal from them. They didn’t tell anyone though, so a lot of kids have died.” His eyes glistened with sorrow unbecoming of a ten-year old. At least not a ten-year old of this world.
“Thanks,” the brown-haired kid smiled. “You saved my life.”
“Nah, it’s nothing.” Shrugged the first one. “Just spread the word, okay?”
“My name is Jung Byunghee,” the first one held out his hand. “You?”
The black haired kid stared at the hand for a second, so unusual was it that it took him a moment to process what to do. Then he grinned, a scruffy little thing it was, but so genuine that Byunghee automatically grinned back. “It’s Changsun. Lee Changsun. Nice to meet you.”
