We're sitting together on the couch, a sappy film engulfs our T.V screen.

Tiffany knows I'm not watching.

I'm too busy analyzing her face to notice Jack sink to the bottom of the ocean.

Tiffany shifts farther away from me before asking, "Uh... Why are you staring me?"

I smile, wearily maybe.

"Tiffany..." She flinches slightly, she's never liked when I was serious.

"Tiffany, I know."

Her eye widen a considerable amount.

"Wha-what do you mean, Jessica? Know what?"  

My smile shifts from weary to wry.

"I know."

She shifts closer to me, taking my hands into hers.

I see her eyes begin to water... The sight breaks my heart.

"Jessi, I tried to tell you, I really tried!"

Now the tears start to drop.

My heart shatters, the pieces fall, leaving my heart strewn across the floor.

I pull my hands back, or at least I try to.

Tiffany tightens her grip.

"Please, Jessica, please, you have to understand!"

My hands go numb, I'm not sure if it's from the pressure my hands are receiving or from the way her eyes beg, plead, me to understand.

I do.

I understood from the start, before she knew, I saw the way they looked at eachother.

 Then and now, I've always understood.

I continue to smile with tears running down my face.

"I do, Stephanie, I always have."

She winces at my tone.

Depressed, drained of life;empty.

"I understand and because I do, Miyoung, I'll do anything to help you smile again, even if that smile isn't for me. To me, there is nothing more beautiful than your true smile, where your eyes curve up to a point where you can barely see them, it's the most breath-taking thing, even if you've only given me a handful of them, I will cherish the memory of every single one. Do me a favor and never stop smiling."

I grin, this time it's genuine.

It seems to have the usual effect, she cries more than before.

"Heheh, why does everyone react like that when I smile?"

I try to lighten the mood.

She chuckles, and grins, her eyes disappearing.

"We can still be friends, right, Jessi?"

I can't seem to answer.

She frowns.

"Jessi?"

Change the subject.

"Oh, look, the movie's over! Wow, James Cameron did a fantastic job!"

She, of course, is persistant.

Why do I even try?

"Jung Sooyeon, answer the question."

I forget sometimes, she's so bi-polar.

What happened to the tears?

What happened to the fragile Fany?

"Oh no! Terminator's next, I should change the channel!"

She scoots closer and grips my shoulders, I turn my head away, avoiding eye-contact.

I feel one of her hands moving up to my face, cupping my cheek, she forces me to look at her.

"Jessica, ANSWER ME."

Her eyes are piercing through me.

"N-n-"

Her eyes start to water for the second time today.

"No?"

Her voice rises 2 octaves higher.

"N-YES! YES! I'll be your friend! No, not JUST your friend, I'll be your BEST FRIEND, JUST LIKE BEFORE! DON'T CRY!"

She smiles.

"Good."

I should've known.

I facepalm myself before getting up from the couch to cry myself to sleep.
