“Doctor, how is my daughter? Did she hurt somewhere?” Mrs. Kang asking worriedly while her eyes looking at her unconscious daughter

“She doesn’t hurt anywhere. Ms. Kang just very exhausted that make her body weak and collapsed. I found out that she is also emotionally unstable. For now don’t burden her mind with something that can stress her out. I advice that she need to take rest for few days until she fully recover”

“Okay doctor”

“When she can discharge?” asked Mr. Kang

“If her condition is good, she can discharge tomorrow”

“Alright, thanks doctor”

“You’re welcome” the male doctor left the room after that

Mrs. Kang, her husband and Sooyoung sit on the couch after doctor leaving them. Seulgi parents just arrive from office and house few minutes ago. They are very worry when received call from Sooyoung telling them Seulgi was rushed to hospital. Suddenly, door burst open and Yeri show up

“Yerim”

The younger girl approach her aunt and give her a hug “Aunty, how is unnie?”

“She is okay. Just exhausted and emotionally unstable. Don’t worry sweetie”

“Ohh, I thought she hurt or something. Luckily I’m not busy when Sooyoung unnie called me earlier” said Yeri

“She is fine. She need good sleep. She will wake up in few more hours” said Sooyoung

“Ms. Park, how did you found her on rooftop? What is she doing there?” asked Mr. Kang

“She told me she want to meet with Ms. Bae. After an hour, she still not return so I’m worry then I go upstairs to check on them. I thought Ms. Bae still there but I don’t hear any sound. Then I saw Ms. Kang unconscious. Her face also wet. Either it tears or her sweat, I can’t make sure that” Sooyoung explain everything that she know

Mr. Kang and his wife looking at each other “I guess the talk make her like this. Maybe they fight earlier” he said

“Uncle, aunty, unnie told me about things that Irene unnie said to her. It worrying me” Yeri said “It is something like she want to give up of KNG. She also asked if I can offer job to her”

“Ms. Kang also used to tell something like that to me few days ago. What we should do sir? Boss look like very serious with her decision” Sooyoung worry

“I also don’t know Ms. Park. The situation is very complicated now. I hope you can take over Seulgi work when she is away. Anything that need her sign, you can pass to me”

“Okay sir”

Irene arrival shocking everyone in the room. She is the last person that they expect to see visiting Seulgi. No one ever think that Irene Bae will visiting Kang Seulgi. Behind her is her loyal bodyguard, Jackson Wang who stare at the others blankly

“Irene unnie, what are you doing here?” Yeri voice a bit cold

“I come to visit Kang Seulgi” Irene answer calmly

“So you wanna check if she still breathing?” Yeri smirk “You fail unnie, she is still alive. Try again next time”

Mrs. Kang holding Yeri hand to stop her from saying something that can lead to argument “Yeri sweetie, calm down. Don’t stress out your unnie with this kind of situation”

“Okay aunty” Yeri sending glare to Irene

Seulgi mother looking at Irene “Joohyun I want to talk to you”

“Okay”

“I want everyone out of here”

“Alright”

The others walk out of the room except Jackson then Mr. Kang stop beside him “She said everyone just now so that’s mean it including you just in case you don’t understand. Don’t worry, my wife don’t have murder record. Irene will be safe here” Jackson looking at Irene then his boss signal him to leave.

Irene sit on the chair while Mrs. Kang on the couch where is sit earlier. The older woman doesn’t show any emotion and her face keep straight

“What happened between you and Seulgi that make her faint at the rooftop?”

“I don’t have answer for that because when I still there, she is fine” said Irene

“There must be something happen. I saw scratch on her knees. The scar is still fresh. As far as I remember, Seulgi never trip anywhere”

“She...she kneeled…” Irene nervously answering

Mrs. Kang turn puzzled “What? You mean she’s kneeling in front of you?”

“Yes umma, we talked at rooftop. She beg me to forgive her and give her chance but I say no. I told her that I will never give her chance”

“My hunch is right” Mrs. Kang close her eyes and let out heavy sigh “Do you really don’t love her anymore? It just a year since both of you divorce. I can’t believe that you move on so fast. I remembered that when you told us about the divorce, you said you will never stop loving her for the rest of your life. Where do you put that words now? You make me believe that there is still a slight chance for Seulgi that’s why I keep encourage her to win you back. I guess I’m wrong, Joohyun”

Irene just silent without any respond. She just stare blankly at the floor while Mrs. Kang eyes keep on her

“You don’t have the answer, don’t you?” Mrs. Kang continue “I don’t talk to you about this just because she is my daughter but in human perspective. Every people deserve second chance and Seulgi does too. She hurt you a lot back then but now she change. She is not an ego and prideful woman that we used to see. Seulgi really love you. As her mother, I know she mean every words that she said. Something that make me happy and something that worrying me. I witness everything happened to her since you left and since she realize that what she did is wrong. She wait for you to come back every day. She never left the old house. She keep everything that you bought in that house. Seulgi never stop hoping that you will forgive her and start new life together. However when you returned, things getting worse”

Mrs. Kang continue after silent for few minutes “I’m disappointed Hyun. I thought you can think rationally. You can tell her nicely if you don’t want to get back to her and can’t forgive her. She will understand but you choose to do it harshly. Maybe your intention is to hurt her like she done to you before. Degrade her, humiliate and scream on her face. You not even stop your bodyguard when he pushed Seulgi in front of your staffs. I know everything Hyun. His father witness it. I hope you satisfied with what had happened. Maybe Seulgi decision is not wrong after all, she should step down from KNG and RV so you will stop seeing her. She will stop bugging you. After she recover she will prepare her resignation and give back what’s yours. As her mother, I can’t stand seeing my daughter treated like a trash especially in front of her own employee. Seulgi is not a perfect girl but she don’t deserve that kind of treatment. We owe you a lot but that doesn’t mean you can treat us like you pleased. You can say that I am ungrateful but no one can treat my daughter the way I never do. She is my only daughter and I will stand for her as long as I can. One day if you become a mother, you will understand what I feel when your child got treated that way. Don’t worry Joohyun, soon we will leave your life and you can be happy more than now” Mrs. Kang leaving Irene alone with sleeping Seulgi after that. She know Mrs. Kang is crying but she can’t find a word to comfort her. She feel guilty for making Mrs. Kang crying. All this while, Mrs. Kang treat her like her own daughter but today is different. They are like a strangers to each other

Irene stay at hospital waiting for Seulgi to wake up. Mrs. Kang returned home to get some stuff since she will stay overnight with Seulgi. Sooyoung and Yeri also returned to their office. Irene told Jackson to left her at hospital and just pick her up when she want to go home later

“Kang Seulgi, do you really deserve second chance? What if you repeat the same mistake? I can’t Seulgi. I don’t want to hurt anymore. If you know how bad you broke me, will you beg for a chance too?” Irene said while staring at sleeping Seulgi

Seulgi opening her eyes and she found herself in hospital room. Last thing she remember is she feel dizzy after crying before everything blackout. She rubbing her eyes and yawn hard. Her body feel heavy but not as weak as before. She look around to search for someone but the room is empty except for her

“Hmmm” she scratching her head then slowly sit up “Aigooo”

A nurse come in just after Seulgi sit on her bed. The woman quickly approach her “Ms. Kang, are you all right now? No dizzy anymore?”

“I feel better now ma’am”

“Okay, I will give you medicine later after meal time”

“Alright” Seulgi nods “How long I am sleeping?”

“Almost five hours”

“Really?”

“Yes, your body is very weak when you brought here and you need enough rest. There is no serious sickness so nothing to worry about. Just don’t get yourself thinking about lot of things. Relax your mind so that you can recover quickly”

“Okay ma’am, when I will discharge?”

“If your condition is good, you can go home tomorrow”

“Okay” Seulgi sighs “Ma’am, am I alone here? I mean no one coming here for me”

“Your mother and father go home to get stuff since they will sleep here tonight. A younger girl also leaving with them. However, there is someone waiting outside”

Seulgi curious “Who is that?”

“She asked me to call her if you awake. I will get her now” the nurse close the file and put it on the table

Seulgi wondering who is waiting for her. That younger girl that nurse mention earlier could be Sooyoung but she don’t know this one. Could that be Yeri? She thought

Door open slowly then Seulgi eyes widened when she saw Irene come in. The older girl walk to her and her face look calm

“Irene, what are you doing here?” Seulgi asking

“Visiting you of course, what else?”

Seulgi rolled her eyes “I thought you don’t want to see me again, not even my shadow”

“You want me to mean my words?”

“What else I could do to stop you? I’m begging like a freak but it not changing your mind so I don’t know what I must do to show you how sincere I am”

“You’re giving up now?”

“Not really but I want to make sure people that I love are safe. Well, I don’t know what you could do to destroy us. It’s better if I get ready for any danger ahead”

“Oh, you think that I am dangerous?” Irene said annoyingly

“Yeah, of course. Do you want me to remind you what you’d said to me before?” Seulgi smirk

Irene groan as she getting annoyed “Why are you so annoying? I try to be nice here visiting you and stay while your parents are away”

“No one told you to do so. You can go home, I can stay here alone. If I need help, I can call nurse. I can speak on my own, unlike you” Seulgi retort

“Ungrateful brat. I thought you change” Irene glare murderously to Seulgi

Seulgi lean on headboard “Hmm, I think you love old Seulgi more than current version. I regret changing myself because it only make you hate me. If I still jerk, evil, ego and ungrateful, I think you will still love me. I remembered in your last letter, you said you love me but I don’t appreciate you. Now I love you but you don’t see me as human. Table turned too fast” she chuckle “Aigooo, why I change my behavior? I make a mistake again. I am too late to know that you like bad girl instead of nice one”

“Shut up Kang Seulgi!” Iren balled her fist “You’re talking too much. I come here not to hear your lecture”

“Now you talk. I willing to hear you voice until forever. But speak softly, I miss your nice voice when you talk to me. Lately you keep on shouting. It not suit you” Seulgi smile

“Stupid” Irene rolled her eyes

“Joohyun” Seulgi waiting for Irene reaction when he address her with that name. As expected, Irene stare at her sharply “I want to call you Joohyun. I don’t care. I don’t want Irene because Joohyun nice to me. Irene always scold me”

“You’re lucky that you sick and I can’t hit you”

Seulgi laughing “Joohyun, please…” she suddenly showing puppy eyes

“What?” Irene sighs heavily

“One more chance. Just one, I promise”

Irene folded her arms over her chest “What if you hurt me again? What if you repeat same mistake?”

“Yes, I will shower you with unconditional love every day without you asking” Seulgi said confidently

“Okay, I give you chance” Irene stated

“Yesssss!” Seulgi bump her fist happily

“But that doesn’t mean you’re accepted” Seulgi stop her childish action then pouting “If I am not happy with effort that you show, you will automatically out. I give you five months to prove that you deserve me”

“Not a big deal, really. I will work hard to show you how much I love you. Trust me, baby” Seulgi smiling brightly

“Don’t baby me!” Irene yell

“Okay honey” Seulgi cackle

“Stupid” said Irene

“Are we dating now?” Seulgi asking

“Not yet” Irene deny “Court me”

“Okay” Seulgi nods her head

“I got to go now” Irene said after reading text in her phone

“I just having good time with you but you’re leaving already” Seulgi whine

“Ayy, I have urgent meeting after this. You can see me again next time”

“Can you visit me tomorrow?”

“Aren’t you out tomorrow?”

“You can visit me at our house. I still stay there”

“You not stay at your parent’s until you recover?”

“I can’t sneak out to see you if I’m there. Umma will surely confine me until I am really healthy”

“Stay with umma. This is my order” Irene said seriously

“Okay” Seulgi pouting “Who will pick you up?”

“Eunji, she already waiting down there”

“That’s good”

“Why?” Irene frown

Seulgi shake her head “Just not comfortable when you alone with your bodyguard. He look like a ert”

“Yah, he respect me!” said Irene

“He still make me uncomfortable”

“Whatever, I go now” Irene said

“Bye honey” Seulgi waving her hand but Irene rolled her eyes in return.

Bright smile not leaving Seulgi lips soon as Irene leave her room. She can’t wait to tell her mom that Irene gave her chance to prove her love. She promise to herself that she will shower Irene with love and affection. She will make Irene fall for her again less than five months

“Sweetie, are you sure you want to court her?” Mrs. Kang feel worry when Seulgi told her about her relationship with Irene

“I’m sure umma” Seulgi smiling happily

“What if you hurt yourself again? Don’t make me worry Seulgi”

“Umma, this is my chance to show her. I will use this opportunity to prove myself to her. I promise I will stop if I fail, okay?”

In her apartment, Irene also informed her sisters and her friends about her current status with Seulgi. The girls look shocked because they thought Irene completely move on from Seulgi

“I thought about it already while waiting for her to wake up. I hope I will not regret my decision. If she really serious, she will not disappoint me. She will hurt herself too if she repeat the same mistake”

“Rene, is she still prohibited to see you?” Chorong asked

“No, she is free from the rule” Irene answered

“Chairman told me and Jackson to stay away from both of them if they are together” said Eunji “From his tone, I found it a bit sarcastic. Not to me but Jackson”

Irene clear “Hmm, maybe he upset because of incident last time”

“What happened?” Chorong and the twin look curious

“Jackson pushing Seulgi when we bump into each other at the lobby. She almost fall from the stairs if Sooyoung not react fast and caught her. At the same time, chairman also witness the scene and he is pissed off” said Eunji

“No wonder chairman is angry. Jackson is too harsh to Seulgi. He not supposed to do that. Seulgi is CEO for god sake. Rene, did he received warning? You know you have to be fair even he is not RV staff” Chorong looking at Irene

“I warned him already. If he repeat the same mistake again, disciplinary action will be taken”

“That’s good”

Seungwan tapping her fingers on the table while thinking of something “If I’m not mistaken, I heard some staff gossiping about your bodyguard when I buy drinks at the cafeteria. So that is what they talked about. I thought they are fangirling over Jackson”

“Maybe they are staff of KNG. Their boss was treated harshly that’s why they pissed off. We also do that if someone treat unnie like that” said Naeun

“I also not siding Jackson in this case” Chorong added

Eunji chuckle “Jackson is overreacting sometimes even to our chairman. He often give me heart attack because he treat chairman equally with other staff”

Seulgi skipped into RV building soon as she arrive. She quickly run to elevator like she is catching something. When she arrived at desired location, she strode to secretary table

Eunji look up to the voice owner then she jump in surprise “Ms. Kang, what are you doing here? Aren’t you suppose to rest at home?”

“Shhh…Ms. Jung, not too loud. I am healthy. Doctors just exaggerate things. Is chairman in this area?”

“No, maybe he is in his office upstairs or go out for meeting”

“Good” Seulgi grin “I want to meet with Irene. Is she busy?”

“She is checking some files for now”

“Okay, I will go inside” Seulgi beaming happily then she looking at Jackson table before speak loudly “Good day sir!” she cackle after successfully mocking of the bodyguard. Eunji can’t help but laugh along

After got permission to enter, Seulgi quickly open the door then close it again

“Kang Seulgi, what are you doing here?!” Irene shock

“I come to visit you” Seulgi smile and sit on the chair

“You should rest at home now. You just discharge yesterday. Did umma know you come here?”

“I sneak out after umma leave for grocery shopping”

“Oh my god” Irene hit Seulgi hand with ruler “You will make umma worry. You shouldn’t leaving the house without telling her”

“Aishhh this brat” Irene turn off her computer and close the files on her desk. She grab her bag, ready to go out but Seulgi stop her “What else?”

“Don’t bring your bodyguard. I’m allergic to him. I don’t want him near me” Seulgi stated

“Tell him yourself!” Irene said and head out of her office follow by Seulgi

“Boss, where are you going?” Eunji asking quickly

“I drive this brat home” Irene glare at Seulgi who stand in front of Jackson desk, grinning at the bodyguard

“Okay boss…good luck…you know we root for you two” Eunji whisper the last sentence then she wink

Irene want to say something to her secretary but distract by Seulgi voice “Sir, Ms. Irene said you shouldn’t come near me because I am allergic to you. When you see me around, make sure to distance yourself at least 50 meters away. Remember that sir”

“Yahhh” Irene yell seeing Seulgi stuck her tongue out to mock Jackson

“Let’s go now Hyun” said Seulgi “Bye Ms. Jung!” she waving at Eunji

“Bye ma’am, have fun” Eunji waving her hands

“You too!” Seulgi saw car key on Jackson table and he grab it “You go home with taxi” she said “Come on babe”

When they waiting for elevator, Irene asking Seulgi a question “What make you treat Jackson like you holding grudge?”

“I really hold grudge because he pushed me. I don’t like him so close to you”

“Jealous much?” Irene snort

“Of course, no one can do such things to you except me”

“Don’t overreacting, he just my bodyguard and he only carry his duty. He not that close to me”

“Still I don’t like certain scenes” Seulgi said annoyingly

“Childish” Irene remarks then they step inside the elevator

At Kang’s residence

“Ouchhh umma, let me go!” Seulgi yelp when her mother greet her by pulling her ear and twist it

“I told you not to go anywhere. Just rest at home. Why do you sneak out when I am away?” Mrs. Kang release Seulgi reddened ear from her grip

“Umma, I go to meet Joohyun” Seulgi whimper

“You can ask her to come here if you want to see her. You don’t need to go out though”

“Go upstairs and change your clothes”

“Okay” Seulgi walk lazily to her bedroom

“We don’t know what will happen in future but I hope all the best for both of you. If you’re not mean-to-be then what we can do”

“Let’s get something to eat. I cooked a lot today. Seulgi request lot of foods but she not eat yet” Mrs. Kang drag Irene to dining table

“I missed your cook umma” Irene eyes glistened when she saw various types of foods on the table

Seulgi and Sooyoung on their way back from somewhere. The CEO sit at front passenger sit while Sooyoung drive for them. Sooyoung noticed that her boss is zoning out for a while now

“I work over my limit already. I learn a lot to make her smile and comfortable when she is with me. For a first timer, I think I in a good track but Joohyun look unconvinced. When we go out for dinner, she want to go home quickly. If I take her out on weekend, she don’t want to hangouts too long. Just walk around like an hour or two then she decide to go home”
